Angelfrost: Effective to what extent exactly??! It's an airborne virus! Sanitize your hands all you like, once it is in the air within a vicinity, every living and breathing individual is contracting it.
Look at everyone running mad looking everywhere for sanitizers that won't secure their air passages or buccal cavities...
That said, it still makes sense to encourage high hygiene including keeping the hands and other parts of the body clean at all times. Madam, WHO recommends alcohol based and other types of hand sanitizer. It’s true that alcohol gels don’t kill some viruses – such as norovirus and rhinovirus – but the coronavirus has an envelope structure which alcohol can attack. Haven't u seen videos of health workers spraying busses and streets with disinfectants in china? Why not google my claim? |

Riele: Hand sanitizer doesn't cure Coronavirus .
Of what use is it anyway ? . Alcohol based hand sanitizer (and several others) are effective....against spread. This is not about cure. Stop spreading misinformation. |

I don’t expect Buhari to come and talk about corona virus when he has minister of health and director of center for diseases control.
I can say that they have managed the outbreak well since we recorded the first case on Friday.
How many presidents have had a press conference because of this outbreak?
I am not saying it is wrong but is not a must for now, we have not gotten to that stage of panicking. What ur saying is that a president cannot talk about something that is killing people around the world? Do u know that virtually all presidents and prime ministers have spoken about it? safarigirl: do you know how many people that is? How will they quarantine hundreds of people?
All the developed countries that have recorded multiple cases, did they quarantine everyone coming from the most affected nations?
Some of you will just come online and be spewing gibberish. Anyone that tells lies about such a thing is doing himself a great disservice, if you lie, you will eventually die if you don't seek help, have you not killed yourself inadvertently? Some Nigerians have sense, and will not allow fear to determine their truth.
Anyway, thanks for telling us that you are a dishonest person, at least we know you tell lies in survey, and you think everyone is as dishonest as you. Oga. They have banned all planes from infected countries. Look at North Korea. America has banned ola as from iran, South Korea, china and italy so what r u saying. When u issue travel bans u have less people in the quarantine. By the way, most quarantine facilities have spaces for hundreds of people its only ur greedy leaders that are putting up with a meagre space. |

NaijaMutant: Lagos has actually done nothing special
The much touted Infectious Disease Centre is even still under renovation.
In fact, the index patient was isolated in ward C of Mainland hospital after the patient in that ward vacated the room. (This is what they actually referred to as quarantine )
We saw pictures of the poor facility where the index patient was kept, the poor condition with mosquitoes and heat made him to even threaten to run away
What's here to celebrate Dont mind some people commenting here. The form they're talking about.....when u return from, let's say dubai, they ask u if u visited a hospital while there or fell I'll in the last couple of weeks etc. No nigerian will supply the truth out of fear or distrust. When they're supposed to quarantine all people co.ing from the infected countries, they are busy setting up Bush meat trap in form of questionnaires in the hope of catching a victim. To all the people crying foul, be sincere , if ur given a form to fill on arrival and on the form, they ask u if u visited a hospital while away in Dubai will u say yes? Especially if the question leads to another more suspicious question? Nigeria on it's own is a quarantine facility, u want come chop extra Corona quarantine. Who will want that? |

yeyeosoronga: You're no disease control specialist. All the advice given have been laid out by specialists in the fields. Keep your uncommon sense to yourself and stop spewing gibberish. Because America did something, despite going against advice by the W.H.O doesn't mean you have to take them to be the standard. Nigeria is one of the few countries who have recently, SUCCESSFULLY battled with something that could have been an epidemic. The world should probably learn from us. If you follow the advice given, as simple as it sounds it will be controlled and would eventually burn itself out . Handwashing/use of sanitizers over and over again is one of the simple advice, avoid crowded functions is another one, sneeze/cough into a tissue paper and avoid spitting about indiscriminately on the road, quarantine yourself if you have a cold, and contact with someone from that area. Simple but effective measures. Unless they've been working on drugs/vaccine to treat a virus similar to the corona virus eg sars virus, the pharmaceutical companies cannot do jack because they simply do not have the luxury of time. By the time their vaccines come out, the virus would have probably run its course and caused the damage it wants to cause. It's not everything you throw money at, that provides solution. Simple, effective, tried and tested common sense disease control measures like those mentioned above helps a great deal. Ur talking big trash and dont deserve any response from me. What did nigeria battle? Oh ebola? That was a battle? If u know how the health care system is u wont be yarning nonsense. Have a nice day |
