The other day the father was courting the German ambassador on some proposed development work.

When the rubber meets the road the people look more closely at worked examples of how the society on which they want to invest is run, how do we expect them to do it, when the principal's family is involved in shady practices, or do we think they will not know.... obviously they will and they will be watching such cases.

And that is why after years, even decades of running round the world courting development partners, Nigeria remains a relative investment wilderness, nothing much is happening.

And when we say create a conducive atmosphere to attract investment people immediately think it is all about roads, bridges and stable electricity, not knowing that those things can easily be overcome.

But the rule of law, a working criminal justice system and a people averse to corruption and all other criminal tendencies is inherent and critical. It simply cannot be constructed, bought, installed or imported. It has to be in place, in the hearts and minds of a citizenry for them to be attractive to outsiders.

A people have to prove that they can overcome themselves, their self serving tendencies and their sentiment for them to be truly open for business.

I am afraid the people of this country are just not ready for that from what one sees, hears and reads.

A whole Minister's son entangled in such a mess...what is a greater de-marketer of Nigeria or Abuja plc.

I should be shocked at most of the responses so far. But you know what, that is what an under developed country looks like. The very difference between it and a developed economy.
