Correct.

Over here, the craze is electronic dance music (EDM) which is real white people music but i find it boring.

I hate that the real people who made a profit of rap were the ficken Jews with the record labels whilst the artistes were left with a slave deal—just enough money for a whip and a chain grin

The jews have always known that the man with the money will always lord over the man with numerous talents and ideas. They always position themselves for opportunities where they can use their funds to rule any industry they decide to play

Since Wikipedia is the issue, well here is another link that's not wikipedia quoting the same news about Albert Einstein's regret

https://www.jta.org/archive/einstein-sorry-he-cant-speak-yiddish-with-greater-fluency

The man is a Jew through and through.

Using his works which were published in German to knock Nigerians who are publishing their works in English language is a very fooolish thing to do.

That is the way business is sourcing talents and promoting them is done

For every Asake and Victor Boniface wey blow the amount of work and promotion that went into them is a whole lot.
These guys are bringing just their talent to the table but talent without exposure will mean they die in their hood as nobodies. When they tell their stories many of them usually point to someone they know who was better than them who never got lucky

For a footballer na someone go take you from your hood, carry you go for multiple trials in Europe. Israel today, Malta tomorrow, Norway yesterday all these the footballer will contribute nothing beyond his talent, its possible he fails all trials and the agent shoulders the debt

For a musician, one person will take interest in you and start taking your sample song all over the labels available. All these labels get thousands of applications everyday from talents who just want to showcase their work which they turn down. Label sign you, give you studio, give your packaging in form of blings,, better clothes, buy you car, even change your studio name, start taking you on their tours and letting the new artiste join them on stage, now start taking your music to media houses and paying for you to get airtime. All these time what does the artiste contribute? Nothing just his talent

So how will the recoup their money invested back? It's a game of numbers. The football or music label hopes by the time they push 10, 2 go hit and cover the losses on the others. Go and ask Don jazzy, Olamide, PSquare Churchill Oliseh the number of artistes or footballers they took in spent money on and they didn't get shishi back in return

I have a friend, who retired from oil and Gas and started football agency, he spent almost all his oil company severance on the business and it wrecked him financially. He is now dead. He will tell me when they will go to one rubbish European country where no one speaks English with 5 of his boys 5 people lodge in one room and still no get contract. Well he has a picture with Davor Suker in one of those trips

One guy posted on Twitter that the way we are going everyone with talent will have to start selling their family land to pay football agents/label upfront so that problem no go dey with supposed exploitative contracts and when the money you deposit finish and you never blow you either bring more or begin go home

As per the bolded, for african footballers(Let me say Nigerians whom I know about) their trials to eastern europe, Israel, Scandinavian countries etc are usually funded by the footballers themselves. All they did then was hustle menial jobs, factory works and clerical jobs just to raise funds for travelling for trials

I know quite a number of senior bros dem while growing that were very good footballers who have travelled several times for trials but usually come back rejected and broke. The whole obsession with playing professional football wrecked their lives. Some are in their mid forties now with no skill learnt, no education beyond OND while staying in their parent's house with their own families they can't even feed.

When the few lucky ones who get successful and get signed by those foreign clubs come home during December, the kind billing dem dey knack them ehn....those ones quickly relocated their relatives from hood so they won't be having reason to run into them.

You cited an example of Oro worship, and I told you Isese means the totality of Yoruba culture and traditions.

Religion, under which Oro worship belongs, is just an element of Isese. I've not seen any tangible point you've made so far.

Several times on this platform, I've condemned and criticized bad aspects of Yoruba culture and other local cultures such as worshipping a deity, human ritual sacrifice some adherents do, and others.

And yes, I'd cut the Isese people some slack because left to the Christians and Muslims, Yoruba culture can die and be replaced with the cultures of the whites and Arab respectively.

If you don't understand this simple fact, then I'm not here for unnecessary back-and-forth.

I've more important things to do. It's only an African I've seen you'd type 1000-word posts just to explain the importance of promoting the native cultures.

SMH.

Before you waste your time to quote me further, any time you see my posts here, keep in mind these areas are my bias: Philosophy, Science, African Cultures and Traditions, and History.

Those are my interests. Don't expect me to criticize Christianity and Islam the way I'd criticize Isese as a Yoruba because I'm here to promote the good aspects of Isese in the first place.

So, don't waste your time and mine. Africa is under the rule of Europe and Arabia, and you expect me to be condemning the local cultures that have endured years of slavery and colonialization.

You've not made many reasonable points. The default state of most Africans is to demonize and condemn the native cultures due to the influence of Christianity and Islam.

This is what millions of African do and have been doing for a very long time.

And you're saying I shouldn't cut the local cultures some slack?

I shouldn't cut the cultures, which you and others like you have already ignorantly condemned as evil and demonic, some slack.

Don't worry. I'd join other mumu people all around and be calling my ancestors demons now, so I can be fair to Christianity and Islam.

It's arguments like this that make me avoid this thread and Nairaland generally these days.

You don't need to use insulting words like "ignorantly" , "mumu people" to make ur points while we are having a civil discussion. Experience has shown that people often resort to that when they are losing their grip on the matter being discussed.

Talking about promoting our culture, Lagos state has declared work-free day in commemoration of Isese day, Oyo state government and Ogun state did likewise.

Remember it was on this very thread I informed u Lagos state house of assembly set aside a day in the week in which they conduct plenary session in Yoruba ;an information u confessed not to have been aware of prior to that moment and commended the house for. Lagos state also has a day reserved for civil servants to wear Yoruba traditional attires to their respective work place.

Like I said earlier, there are several academics, scholars and ATR practitioners who do a better job at promoting Yoruba culture but do not go about cussing at adherents of other religions.

As regards ur attempt at playing on semantics with Oro is just an aspect of Isese, well I believe we've been talking about African Traditional Religion(ATR) as a religion and Islam and Christianity.

A001:

Every religion has their issues. That's common knowledge.

Again, I don't see the relevance of these posts at this period.

I'm here to promote my culture and correct the false historical facts peddled by adherents of Islam and Christianity, who seek to destroy African cultures and traditions and replace them with the Arabic and European cultures

If you've issues with that, it's none of my business.

Arabs promote their cultures and traditions, which Islam is a key element of; the same thing applies to the whites, the Indians, the Chinese.

That's what every right-thinking human does.

And you're telling me to allow people practice Islam or Christianity as if I erected a barrier at the door of every shrine of Yahweh or Allah, your churches and mosques preventing people from worshiping their imported deities.

I've not seen any tangible points in your posts so far on this issue.

You don't expect right-thinking Africans not to scrutinize and criticize ridiculous religious beliefs in the imported religions and in the local ones.

If you don't want your religious beliefs to be scrutinized or criticized, then deep down in your heart, you must know they're a sham.

Every philosophy, religion, scientific notion/theory should be questioned and scrutinized. That's how we separate facts from fiction.

That's how societies move forward and develop.

My initial post on this topic was in response to ur post in which u claimed Isese practitioners don't wage war against Muslims. This has already been established to be false.

Later u move on to claim Isese is relatively peaceful but I'm still waiting for ur response to my question that : In what world is killing woman who innocently/ignorantly flout curfew hours termed as "relatively peaceful "?

If we want to scrutinize religions, let's scrutinize each and everyone of them, let's not because of bias condemn one totally and cut the other some slack.

There are several Yoruba academics, scholars and traditionalist who promote our culture without insulting adherents of other religions.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDicks: 9:11pm On Aug 19, 2023
A001:

The word "relatively" is the key. I said Isese is relatively peaceful and you singled out Oro worshippers?

Is Oro worship the totality of Isese? Can you cite verses of Odu Ifa where Ifa or Orunmila or any other local deities specifically commanded their worshipers to fight against or kill non-Isese people?

Yorubas are known for their accommodating nature, and a Yoruba person is arguing that Isese is relatively peaceful.

Where do you think Yorubas learnt their accommodating nature from if not from Isese?

Do you know what Isese means? Or you think it's just a religion or all about Oro worship?

Isese means Yoruba culture and traditions, and the religious or worship aspect is just an aspect of these. Isese is very broad.

Nobody has said Yorubas are not accommodating and nobody has said there are no good aspects of Isese. Nobody has said Isese encourages those who practice traditional religion to kill people who practice other religions or don't agree with their beliefs.

But just like u see bible verses which sound as if commanding Christians to dominate other people or Quaran verses which sounded like encouraging muslims to deal with unbelievers; there are Yoruba proverbs which some extremist Isese practitioners rely on too when they carry out some actions. When u hear proverbs like " a kin ri ajeku oro", "bi obirin ba fi oju di oro, oro a gbe". Then u know there's just no perfect religion.

Allow those that want to practice Islam, Christianity and even Traditional religion practice their religions. U can always condemn the evil done by religious people, but stop denigrating one religion to praise another.

How is Isese relatively peaceful when I Just showed u evidence that their adherents kill ex-members for leaving and "revealing their secrets"?

Every Yoruba knows Oro worshippers will kill a woman who innocently/ignorantly flout their curfew hours. In what world is that a peaceful act?

I absolutely agree with this. Even those of us with elementary demand and supply economics we learnt in secondary school knew floating the Naira will be a disaster.

Were it not for this temporary measure they just took, we easily could have ended up buying fuel at 1500/litre and the economy will be at the brink of total collapse.

Like I said earlier, I'm glad the old man is finally coming back to his senses and reversing most of his idiotic policies.

When they are ready to make the country work, we will know and will be ready to support them by bearing whatever pain we have to bear.

You just disgraced your religion further. In many towns in the Southwest, so many shrines of the native gods and goddesses have been destroyed and burnt to the ground by the Muslims.

And the Isese people didnt wage a war against the Muslims. But let anyone touch Qur'an or any of Allah's shrines called mosques and watch the whole area burn with violent actions from the Muslims.

You regularly ridicule, condemn, and demonize other religions but when the same action is meted to you, you start a war.

Some Isese practitioners responded to the ridicule and demonization of their ancestors, leaders, and culture generally by you, the Muslims, and the violent extremists attacked them in the night with the police and remanded one of the currently.

Where's it done in the world that you abuse me and call my father unprintable names, and I'm not allowed to retaliate even in my own country? And you're typing garbage here.

As I said yesterday, no religion has the monopoly of violence, and what goes around comes around.

The Isese practitioners are not saints themselves, at least according to History. Oro worshippers who fall under Isese practitioners are known to be highly intolerant.

As a kid my dad told me about the story of Apalara the islamic cleric and how he was murdered by oro worshippers in Ebute Meta. Apalara was killed simply cos he converted to Islam, started preaching against the traditional religion and on the allegation that he was exposing their secret. How is that different from extremist Muslims who kill people for apostacy? His murderers were later hanged upon sentencing by the courts. U can catch up on the story in the link below.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/12/apalara-murder-mystery-alfa-bisiriyu-apalara-1918-1953/

While u may want to argue that that was a case that predated independence and not a regular occurrence in modern day, please check the link below for an incident as recent as April 2023 when Oro worshippers attacked Muslims while observing their prayers in a mosque in Ile Ife

https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2023/04/01/how-oro-worshippers-attacked-muslims-inside-mosque-in-ile-ife/

PS: My post is not to support Muslim, Christians or traditional religion worshippers, but just to let u know that almost all the religions are not perfect and they have their fair share of fanatics.

The money we spent on Havertz should've been spent on buying a proper striker who is imposing in the box . Smith-Rowe should'v been promoted to Xhaka role.

As for Tierney, he has no future in a team like Arsenal ; He is too one-dimensional . He just wants to get the ball, cross it or whip an unnecessary ball ahead even when he's not sure of connecting with a teammate

1. Partey is our best midfielder.

2. All of them are not serious.

3. Saliba is world class.

4. Timber should utilize more intelligence than pace and power.

5. The boys need to polish their inbuilt Agberoism, we will need it this season.

We can go tough in matches if we want to; we showed that in our match vs Newcastle at the end of last season.
