obaseki is a sitting governor and was widely known to be in dispute with his godfather in oshiomole. He would be a huge addition to the opposition party if he were to decamp. Umahi is a state governor and not a sitting president as the case of obaseki is.

Which APC strongman will let a man who was defeated in opposition primaries to come in few months to APC primaries, contest presidential election and win?

Atiku did it in 2019. APC governors are swooping on Jonathan right now. If he defects few months to 2023 elections, he will win. Anything is possible in Nigerian politics.

how can you defect after losing primaries? Around that same period the opposition party will be doing primaries as well and if you were to defect after losing primaries you'd not receive a heroes welcome and may not be eligible to contest primaries in opposition party.

The worst anyone who loses primaries does, is to go and contest senate or gubernatorial, but to switch party at that critical stage? I never see

Obaseki defected after losing primaries. That is what pragmatism is all about. A party can shift its primaries just to know what the outcome of the other party's primaries will be in other to receive cheated aspirants into its fold. In Nigerian politics everything is possible.

They know he is a different type of politician. It's better they let him go now than to allow him lose and defect at a most critical period when his defection would have been a lot more costlier than now.
