The SE delivered a block vote against his presidency, while other regions voted more randomly which eventually culminated in his victory.
He was simply restating the time tested fact that you reap where you sow. Whichever way you choose to take it is up to you, but all you can do is wail as reasonably expected. kutchs: [s]You can't hear a mature, responsible and sane president make such statement. That statement is the dumbest ever made and anyone who supports it is even dumber than the president. That dumb and careless statement shows he knows nothing about the basic elements of democracy. That he expects everyone to vote for him shows he belongs to the stone age.[/s] |

Abacha was a military dictator like Babangida, not a civilian President with the constitutional mandate to lead the country.
Obj and GEJ on the other hand were civilian presidents that presided over the oil price boom and yet Nigeria remains in darkness and largely undeveloped. When it comes to looting, which one beats the Arms scandal under GEJ, the missing $20b, the subsidy scam, the $16 billion electricity scam.....should I continue mentioning them? Were they not all presided over by southerners?
Just go and sleep you have no point. The fact remains that Nigeria was ruled by southerners for the past 16 years of our democracy and Nigeria is still in this horrible, dark and undeveloped state.
herzern: Abacha is from the South??..... Babangida is from the South??......

Of course, because the South that led Nigeria since 1999 (over 16 years) has turned it into Singapore right?
You are not even ashamed that despite the oil price boom and several southern presidents and ministers of power, Nigeria still doesn't have stable electricity. Was it not OBJ that looted the $16 billion meant to turn around power? Is lack of power not a major reason for our backwardness?
What has the South contributed besides fraud, crime, drug trafficking, militancy, prostitution, fake drugs, yahoo yahoo, rituals, baby factories etc?

histemple: Buhari should be encouraged and supported to work with whoever he feels comfortable with, provided the person is competent.
I have given up this idea of wanting my person to be there because it's not working. My person was president and my region is worst off. My people are lawmakers and ministers yet they don't care about our people.
It is better for Nigeria if we appreciate competence rather than promote ethnic bigotry.
If I become the president of this country, I will prefer to work with only the northerners if possible because they have proven to be more honest and committed.
The major troublemakers and incompetent people we have in government today are largely southerners. From the lying Lai Mohammed, Femi Adesina, Amechi to the incompetent Chris Ngige, Kemi Adeosun etc. You are making sense. Actually there are 3 regions in the North which is half of Nigeria tho we always lump them together, and their population is more so it is not surprising that they are everywhere in this government. As far as they work and deliver, I have no problem and support the government. Where I go vex is when projects are only concentrated in d north, but from what we have been seeing things are balanced (minus 5% ). |

TruthisGOD: That is a complete hogwash. You people should try do your calculations and don't swallow everything media tells u. Do a little maths for Petes sake! At budget benchmark of 38 or even 28 dollar per barrel oil still contributes far more than 820 billon to the budget revenue, even up 60% of our revenue. Now that oil price is hovering between 43 to 46 dollar per, it accounts to more than 60% of the budget revenue . The speculation that oil contributes 820 billion is pure fallacy to make it look like the least contributor in the budget revenue. All of these miracle centre products never fail to amaze. The statement was that oil revenue due to its fast declining value is billed to contribute just 820b Naira to the 2016 budget which hasn't yet been passed, not that oil has been accounting for just that figure all these years. Ensure you comprehend my posts before mentioning me further or you will be ignored. |

It is often said that a middlebelts can never rule Nigeria because they are neither accepted in the North except for stratetigic reasons. Once Middlebelters allign with the South you lots will calm down. You're grossly ignorant. 1. Which of those states is a southern state? 2. Politics › Re: Buhari Creating Biafra-Ezeife to Northern Elders by BMedia: 9:03am On Apr 24, 2016 |
Dollyak: Let's back it up with facts. I am happy to end up with egg on my face. The floor is yours. Dollyak: For the usual suspects complaining about "“The North takes by far, more than it contributes to the coffers of Nigeria". This statement was made in proportion to other regions and if you disagree let's trash it out. In economic balance the core Northern state has the most negative quotient. In other words they get wayy more than they contribute with respect to other regions. What SE get is a fraction of what the core northerners get.
(The middle belts are not core northerners.) This is the beginning of your blindness. You are comparing what 1 politically weak region gets to what 3 northern regions get, 3 regions that you fraudulently classify as one 'core north'. What is core North and where is it referenced in our constitution? This will be the basis of any argument. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Creating Biafra-Ezeife to Northern Elders by BMedia: 8:56am On Apr 24, 2016 |
Dollyak: Well I do agree with all the point. 1. I agree that proportionately, core northerners get the most and contribute the least. I.e It's criminal how kaduna gets more funds than Oyo state. 2. The deliberate marginalisation of SE being the root cause of biafra agitation is also absolute. Though, I blame the selfish elders in Igbo land who are not strategic but only cares about their wallet. While I agree with your second point that igbos marginalized themselves as a result of their greed and lack of political strategy, I strongly disagree with your first point that northerners contribute the least, especially as it was not backed by facts and figures and stinks of bigotry. Kaduna has one of the most robust economies in Nigeria for your info and I can back that up with facts and figures. |
