nihelimitretep: Following the " testimonies" of the last recruitment, i can say that your "sweet assumption " does not follow.
Some applicants were said to be paid after a year or even more while some were never paid at all. Well they also didn't start getting paid till many months after their interview, unlike the current recruitment. So far, nothing in this recruitment has taken the pattern of the last one, so my assumption ought to still be valid. Que Sera Sera. |

Kevlala: For me, I think its neither here nor there. In as much it may seem offensive to ask what the job role is at the point of interview, Organizations that knows what HR is wont from the beginning act irresponsible. It is usually small org that act anyhow.
Organisations where I have been referred to, collects my CV and immediately send you an employee data form and the job description almost immediately.
When those are sent u are asked to acknowledge if the job role suits u and respond before an interview happens.
Even international job recruiters have gotten to me and this same pattern follows. they have looked at your profile on LinkedIn but they still send u the job description for u to peruse. Before the interview.
All job roles are usually not the same. There could be some aspect u may not be comfortable with. An accountant in a bank may not be familiar with the operations of an upstream org. As well as a risk manager role in a bank may not suit a risk manager role in an insurance coy.
In conclusion, the guy should have used Google to do a thorough research abt the role so as not to have asked the question. But again the organization doesn't have good Hr practice. If the Hr head personnel was in the panel he/she should have apologized for not sending the job description. I doubt there was an Hr person in the panel, cos when there is a vacancy in a dept, the dept usually send the JD to Hr to search for a good fit. It all boils down to being proactive. Regardless of the state of any organization's HR function, once you are referred/apply for a role, it borders on common sense to research the organization & job description whether provided or not, so as to tailor interview answers accordingly. For all we know, the omission could be deliberate to assess the problem solving skills of the applicant. There is hardly any interviewer that wouldn't be impressed if you deliberately structure your answers to demonstrate a solid grasp of the job requirements. Works every time. Asking that question was a total no-no. |

samalli592: Yeah, it is all fun and games until the APLs are released. In my opinion, contrary to the generic belief that a lot of people are having fun on here, i sense desperation almost bordering on obsession. From trivial postulates discussed, it is quite evident that some persons may have their lives hanging on this job. Some persons have even expended the 'supposed' upfront even before the actual receipt of APLs, heck, some persons are even considering resigning from their current jobs without the APL yet in sight. Don't get me wrong, i am not against anyone's ability to day-dream or hold on to stern faith but i could advise a bit of moderation in such actions. Nothing in life is of certitude save for death and taxes. With the spate of suicides in the country amongst our youths for minor challenges they face i must say, i pray no one here toes that line if this recruitment does not produce a favorable outcome as expected. Come on, isn't that rather extreme? I doubt anyone qualified to be in the running for this APL could doubt their capacity so much as to contemplate suicide for not being fortunate enough to clinch it. It's not that deep bro. Opportunities abound. |

Besides, it can serve as an inspiration to others and also change the orientation of many Nigerians who do not believe a common man can land a lucrative job like nnpc job without connection. I met one rather young chap on the lift on my way down after my interview who asked how my interview went. Dude's appearance was so simple & unassuming that I asked him back how how his own interview went, only to be met with a smile & corrected by the lift attendant that he was a senior employee. He spoke of how he was once in my shoes and got in by sheer grace & recommended prayers. His demeanor was so unassuming that I was humbled & had my hope for the common man doubled in an instant. I became very happy and i just remembered a guy (my friend ni o) had transferred one 20k to me on 1st of July, and the money was not for me to spend. i just dashed to using my bank USSD Code, started using the money hoping that NNPC would pay my 20k. i finished that 20k sharpsharp .....alas!

Jarus: Another thing you should expect: after the successful candidates are finally contacted, some of them will run away from this thread or enter ghost mode, refusing to comment again, people that used to be active here o. Mostly out of fear of NNPC withdrawing their offer or "hear no evil", or evil eyes.
Some of the candidates we (ie my personal firm, JarusHub) coached for DPR got the job, some got back to us to tell us they did, some did not for fear of us announcing their "success" to the world, or just keeping it secret. It was when they resumed that some of those that contacted us came to tell us that they saw so-so persons that were also part of our coaching in Lagos/Abuja/PH on resumption, but the people themselves did not tell us they got the job. We only knew of one during this NNPC, when she sent her husband to our coaching, on her advice.
I think it is a Nigerian thing. Many people will not announce their success here. You will just not see them again.
So, expect some folks here that are vocal here to enter quiet mode after success emails/sms/letters drop. Or perhaps they immediately start seeing themselves as part of NNPC and refusing to comment publicly here, even anonymously.
I will not be surprised to see that less than 10 people will announce their success on this thread. I solemnly pledge to announce my success, and won't wait till I send my wife to your coaching. |

geektrovert: Aside.
@Jarus and other economists in the house. Something that has been bothering my mind.
In the current market conditions of Nigeria nowadays, is it better to play in the premium segment or mass market?
I mean, some brands play premium (their earnings model is based on higher brand value and higher GM - gross margin e.g Cocacola, Pampers), while others play to the volume (lower GM, but higher volume e.g. indomie, molfix, Bigi Cola)
What's your take on this guys? (Sorry I'm putting it on this thread) It is important to first establish that you have the capacity to compete in the premium segment because that space is inhabited by more established brands with sizable R & D budgets, high brand visibility and more capacity to absorb shocks. Inability to do that would drown the visibility of your product in that segment. That said, considering the recent inflation which midwifed the birth and rise of several cheaper alternative products (especially FMCG's), I opine it would be a safer bet to start in the mass market if you're not already an established brand with significant market share, and then gradually introduce premium lines/variations of your product to secure those higher margins as you progressively establish brand presence. Indomie did the same by introducing their premium "Relish" line of noodles while maintaining the classic versions for the lower market spectrum. If you're already an established brand however, it could be quite rewarding to take the plunge into the premium segment provided strategic marketing is involved and all T's are crossed. My 2 cents. |

saxha: Let's even analyze the thing, about 9k were interviewed,
they've paid applicants within 3weeks now, about 2 days in a week each (1st week was Tues and Wed, 2nd week was Wed and Thurs, and last week was on Wed and Thurs as well)
Assuming they're paying about 1300 applicants in each day, that's 1300 X 6 = 7800
9000- 7800 = 1200...
Who knows, about 1300 might just be the remaining applicants that are yet to be paid. Powerful assumption.

From experience, the FCC phase of any FG recruitment is usually characterized by lots of information leaking from numerous sources, as commissioners jostle to insert their candidates and engage in horse-trading (except when such MDA's get a waiver). It happened recently with DPR.
This has not been so with NNPC this year which is strange if notifications are really going to be sent out next week. Let's hope the silence is a blessing. |

It seemed the theory of Farouk/King Ayam is true really. Dunno to what extend though.
My father-in-law works @ NNPC, said they have been systematically sorting out the final list/database of successful candidates thru the credit alerts actually. That may be why it's taking so long to process everything. He knows that one of these two guys is processed for successful candidates, while the other handles unsuccessful ones.
