Why are people bothered with dayokanu, what is obvious, is obvious. We have better issues to discuss than this one. I wonder what is wrong with some people on this nairaland. What is wrong with what the OP has written. Some people opened several monikers on this forum just to fester tribalism and make foul comments, triggering avalanche of tribal derogatory words. Lets becareful lest we are consumed by hatred. It would be a horrible way to exist in this life.

Please, nobody in his right mind should insult Soyinka. When issues of other people are discussed on this forum, lets try as much as possible to exclude Soyinka from the discussion. The man is a Hero in Nigeria. He is a gift to Africa. Please.

I have always known that Northerners are very intelligent. Eventhough it took me many years to dispell some of the stories i heard about them as a kid. For example, i said to my self, if these guys have the brain of a cow, how come they have been ruling u ever since, that means I have a lesser brain than the cow. I also reasoned that if these guys were dumb, how come they are able to exert such control on the Yorubas with all their profs.
In my class in the University, i had one northerner that i loved so much because the guy was practicaly a genius. He knew the answers to mathematical questions without writing anything down. I therefore concluded that, though most northerners dont go to school because of Islam, those that go to school are highly intelligent like geniuses.

I suggest we name Yoruba Cultural house after him in the South West if there is anything like that because he shed more light on the events of the war for the young impressionable yoruba minds who would have been brainwashed with the fake stories. deliveryboy: I totally agree with Soyinka on this, you are only trying to associate Islam with violence when you know that that there are more cases of violent killings in the christian dominated southern Nigeria, I did my national youth service in the east and one always woke up to see dead bodies in the streets of Aba, so is Onisha, people still kill and use clay to bake human flesh in most parts of the eastern Nig. Anambra and Akwa Ibom states had the highest murder cases(both 70% of national murder cases), Ezu river bodies were not likely to have been dumped by muslims, neither was Alu community a muslim community, life has little or no value in these areas, just that you pple are masters of conceal, rather u focus on other ppl to hide your flaws. Besides the bible is still d book with most violent stories of ravages I've read so far.

My brother the difference is that they are not killing in the name of Allah. And they are not targeting muslims and mosques. Btw hw is it that u witnessed all these killings in the east but was not killed urself. Is it that u were always on a delivery duty to the north therby missing the carnage only to return after the killings and hear the stories. U see the great difference between Islam and Christianity? Islam preaches to kill the assailant before he kills u, Christianity preaches to turn the other cheek when slapped i.e allow urself to be killed and leave the judgement for God. Now my question is, who ascertains for the muslims that somebody is coming to kill them, the person could just be coming to threaten u and naturally u believe its to kill u. So, according to ur religion u will kill that person to protect urself.

U can now see where their terrorists get their justification for killing from. They are convinced that their lives are threatened by a particular people (government, race, religion,etc) and they immediately act on instruction from their Koran, kill before they kill u.

That's y i say that a muslim is a potential killer because at the right condition/conviction (chemical and physical condition) he goes on a killing spree and justifies it with the Koran. What baffles me is y a great number of them develope that mindset at thesame time making them a terrorist organisation. But, i may be wrong on this one, i believe that they follow without questioning a member of their society (probably an Imam, Sheikh, Sultan or a rich man) such that when this person tells them u are about to be killed, they believe and start killing and maiming.

Invariably, every muslim can be switched off and on by a particular influential member of their society to kill and maim. In other words, every muslim is a killer either by conviction or by influence. A volcano just waiting to erupt.
