I beg to dissagree @ candylips. Technical analysis, which is a sumation of someones hard work is in no way and should not be reffered to as crap. They have schooled and worked hard to bring you this information.

If you cannot understand it, just ask and someone might be kind enough to explain to you. I can understand that you may not be the only one with this view though, that is why I have set up my web site so as to help people like you.

Go to or www.poormantrading.com or simply CLICK HERE to see for yourself.

Technical analysis is not meant to predict the direction or flow of the market, rather your understanding of tec. analysis can help you do that. Whatever conclusions you come to are entirely yours and you cannot blame any analyst for any results. They are merely giving you a running comentary of the market situation for you to work with.

I do all the hard and boring work of sifting through mounds of TA & FA to save you all that work and bring you just the vital info you need to make that crucial decision of wether to buy of sell.

Just follow my tips and you will always be smilling to the bank.

Can we see some pics of these made in Nigeria MISSILES and JETTY and BOMBS(ogbunigwe offshoot?). We should encourage our people abroad and let them see whats being done back home.

I like the trend of this thread. Every body has something good to say.
May I add my humble bits too.
Firstly kuddos to Rasputinn for his detailed analysis reports. We are all reading them but how many understand? At the end of the day its how much we can make that is the determining factor.

Well said,  but one more thing, look before u leap and make sure u make adequate arrangement for the protection of your capital. Happy investing,
Wise words, but please know this that there is no protection of capital when you decide to play the Nigerian stock market. This internationally accliamed advice remains - "Do not invest with any money that you are not prepared to lose!" Im not trying to scare you, but you need to know before you jump,  but by all means jump never the less!

I have about 1200 units of conoil shares that belong to my dad. He doesnt knw much about shares and has not been receiving dividends since 1990.i intend 2get them sold(with his consent).how do i go about that as he's not registered with and brokeage firm and we're nt interested in investing d stock market 4nw? (we've both been 2 sterling registers who have confirmed dat his account still exists)
My reply might be a little late, but lets try. On the date of your post CONOIL was worth N104 x 1200 = N124800! Nice money. If you have not sold it yet pls dont, as it is only worth a fraction now. You can consult me privately so I give you an exact date to sell. wink

cvibe:

For too long, i have been trying to find out what drives the share prices of companies quoted on the stock market and can't seem to find it other than price fixing.
To you sir, I say, "Dont bother about whats under the bonnet as long as the vehicle moves, you ride with it." Thats what some of us do and we are happy.

rexdmx:

asking for a game plan with your broker is the same as asking your barber if you need a haircut.
a broker is a salesman. just focus on conducting your own analysis on companies if you cant afford an expensive security analyst.

simply spending time by learning how to analyze financial systems would be the first step
PERFECT! Redmix, I couldnt have said it better. But let me add that if you think your head is too prety or too thick to bother with those figures, ask someone who know,  like me, or him. preferably me. cool

monopolist:

Pls any investible info on Intercontinental and First Bank's 1 for 1?
I dont trust 1-1s. You want to buy FirstBank? Buy it now. As for me I wouldnt buy though, personal preferences ok. InterCont. is good, in fact Im going to buy it first thing on monday!

naijaking1:

I have 2 questions for the gurus still living in the house:
1. what's the impact of the bonds banks like FSB and Zenith are trying to lunch on other their stock value?
2. would you buy, sell, or stay put given then current financial picture created by Sanusi?
There is no such thing as stability with the stock market in any economy.

travellout:

It is right time to buy stocks now
There is no better time to do anything than NOW. It depends on what you are buying. You need to be will informed, but who asks, will never get lost. Go to http://s2.webstarts.com/poormantradingcom/index.html to find out all about stock market.

dotuneasy:

Is it really the right time. My dad bought shares some few months ago and is yet to recieve dividends, a couple million tied up in stock somewhere.
Buying shares is not all about dividends bro. A member of this forum's dad bought as well and now they are rich! Money in the stock market is like an investment and should never be seen as being "tied up". (It depends on what he bought though)

puskin:

Buying shares nw is just 4serìous long-term investors.
It would seem so, but that is not always the case. Dont exclude yourself. you cash will not germinate by itself.

Yoighaman:

The easiest route to the millionaires' strata is the purchase of 'thousands worth of stocks' today with a long term perspective.
Caution: NO LEVERAGE PLEASE!
Cheers
How ever may millions worth you have of share certificates, it is worth no more that a cup of gari! Only what you lock in and cash out can you claim as true wealth.

It takes but a simple thing to confound the "wise".

Since the begining of this post a lot of water has gone under the bridge, the Nigerian stock market has gone up and down and up and down. This is normal in any market, but you need to invest wisely so as not to be caught out pants down.

I would strongly recomend any one seriously interested in investion in nigeria to click here and check me out. For up to date current information. I do a lot of research so you dont have to.
Investment / Re: Understanding The Nigeria Stock Market by BobbyA(m): 1:21pm On Dec 28, 2009
Hi there,
Just a word of advice, there is no 'good' or 'bad' company to invest in. It just depends on when you get with them.
Also if you want investment advice, the last person you should ask is a stock broker,  Surprised?
You would think that they know the business so the can give the best advice? but you see the truth of the matter is a stock broker will sell you anything because he will always get his commision.

Indeed the bubble burst, but not every has to cry. The wise are laughing right now,

It is the norm in every ecomomy stock market that prices go up and down so that should not be any cause for alrarm.

With wise investing you can join when the bubble forms and grow with it, and then bail out just before the 'bubble burst'.

I can show you how to win every time even when things are going down. I live in the UK and I invest constantly in nigerian stocks. I do not need to send money home ever, 'cos it can be a proffession actually.
