I'll do this if I don't have to drop my children in school or if my place of work isn't over 20km from my house or if our roads were safer! Labour should negotiate for an increase in salaries because those in the informal sector will adjust their prices to match what they buy... someone needs to take care of the unemployed, the public and private employees. Above all, we need working refineries.

BTW, Tinubu may have good intentions but a compassionate president will find a way to ameliorate the people's suffering ASAP

Drama in court as judges order Peter Obi’s legal team to go home

The order was due to the poor scheduling of documents being sought to be tendered by the petitioners.

While the legal team appeared not organized, the five-man panel of justices said that Obi’s lawyers underrated the magnitude of the task before them.

PoliticsAgain, Tribunal Steps Down Obi’s Petition Over Poor Schedule Of Documents by Bobloco(op): 12:57pm On Jun 01, 2023
For the third time, the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, was forced to step down hearing in the petition filed by Mr Peter Gregory Obi and the Labour Party, LP, against the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The petition was stepped down by the court following a poor schedule of documents being sought to be tendered to establish the allegations of malpractices during the February 25 presidential election.

At Thursday’s proceedings, the court discovered that the documents were not properly scheduled as ordered by the Court.

In the drama that ensued at the point of rendering the documents from the 23 local government areas of Benue, a lot of discrepancies were uncovered.

All efforts to reconcile the anomaly and reschedule the documents were unsuccessful as the errors were beyond immediate solution.

To save the situation, counsel to Obi and the Labour Party, Chief Emeka Okpoko SAN, sought to use documents not filed to conduct the proceedings, but the move was rejected on the ground of illegality.

In the end, the court stepped down hearing of the petition and ordered the legal team to go and re-file the schedule of documents in line with the provisions of the pre-hearing report.

The hearing of Obi’s petition had run into stormy waters three times, prompting the shift in the hearing of the petition.

At the time of this report, Peter Obi and the Vice Presidential candidate, Datti Baba Ahmed, were in the court as their lawyers were running helter and skelter to the Registry of the Court to file a new schedule of documents.

Meanwhile, the five Justices led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani hearing the petition have retired to their chambers to await when the legal team will put its house in order.

Simple economics of demand and supply doesn't apply to Nigeria

Nigeria has a unique economy that defies simple economic theory

Which of the Wike?

Is it the one that scattered Atiku's chances or the one that will soon take ministerial appointment?

Since Labour Party is a subsidiary of PDP, it is reasonably expected that PDP should still have some more working brain than LP.

But from the look of things, LP is a bit better due to the doggedness of its national chairman in person of Lamidi Apapa.

PoliticsRe: Subsidy Removal: Fuelling Your Car by Bobloco: 6:08pm On May 31, 2023
nairalanda1:
Damm, you don't even need to support Tinubu to relaize that subsidy is bad for the economy.

The problem is, the cost of production of fuel as well as the amount of fuel used in this country rises. Like we went from 40 m liters a day in 2013 to 80 million now.

The more the cost of producing fuel rises, the more the cost of subsidy rises. And that means we would be taking money from the budget for other things to fund subsidy.

In 2012, Jan....the landing cost of fuel was N99, and the pump price, as set by government was N65. In Sept 2022, the landing cost had gone up to N502.

Now, if we had kept pump price at N65 up till 2022, the amount of money we would have been spending on subsidy would have risen from N34 per liter to N 445 per liter.

Let's not forget that daily consumption has gone up from 40m in 2012 to 80 m in 2023.

At the end, the budget won't be able to cope, and the borrowing would be pro-max
Then why did Tinubu himself objected to its removal to the extent of sponsoring protest in 2012

During last election politicians uses the poor class to killed, divide, destroyed and tribalized the country. this morning driving down to work I was behind some tinted Prado's, Lexus's jeeps vehicles with other middle class cars I realized only the middle class cars stop by to assist some stranded Nigerian to work, the jeep's none stop.

At the bustop when a middle class vehicle pass the stranded Nigerian wave hands for assistance irrespective of his/her tribe or religion and ignore the tinted jeeps, unfortunate I did not stop to assist because the crowd was large fear against them destroying my handle.

My thinking was why do middle/lower class citizen fight themselves, do politician bidding even support their evil policies and justify it instead protesting against bad policies & celebrate their achievement.
A very good observation bro

Even here on nairaland, you will observe that the banters have reduced because, this thoughtless decision to jerk up the Price of fuel is bitting hard on everyone irrespective of party affiliation, ethnicity or religion.

What are the tips to survive this insensitivity?

Tell us your tank capacity and how you plan to survive this hike.

Can the government just leave this subsidy for the masses sake and go after those stealing our oil?

Can the government just do partial removal of subsidy instead of total?

Meaningful contributions please.
OP, they will come to tell you how subsidy is enriching the rich,

They will come to tell you how the poor is not benefiting anything from government subsidising petrol

They will come to tell you so many uncoordinated things to justify this thoughtless decision by Tinubu

It’s because SW is closer to the port.

They will factor in transportation cost and etc into the prices too.

Now that NNPC already released official statement on the price adjustment, the market conditions will now dictate the price of petrol by each station as it is obtained in USA for example.

President Tinubu should now urgently address the nation and let us know what modalities is in place to help the masses adjust by to this and what benefit they will derive from this Subsidy removal

People need to start feeling the impact of the help from FG ASAP.

I salute his courage tho. If he eventually succeed in this totally, he has done what other president can’t do since 1999.
at the bolded, this is what he should have done before making that "subsidy is gone" pronouncement at the inauguration podium
