Maybe if Tinubu spent less time ruining the economy and more time chasing clout, the hunger, insecurity, and sheer hardship his catastrophic policies unleashed might start to ease, just maybe.

This is precisely why I said on the other thread that Governor Umo Eno’s endorsement of President Tinubu for 2027 is nothing more than a strategic move to curry favour with the Tinubu APC-led administration. It’s about self-preservation ensuring that Senate President Akpabio who is the leader of APC in Akwa ibom doesn’t mount a strong opposition to his re-election bid in 2027.

...... lament widespread killings

Nigerians on social media have lamented the spate of widespread violent killings across Nigeria as President Bola Tinubu assures his compatriots that he is doing well running the country remotely from Europe.

Some mocked Mr Tinubu, calling him a “remote worker”, “remote president,” and “diaspora president”, practising “virtual governance.”

While in France, Mr Tinubu met U.S. State Department Senior Advisor Massad Boulos, remotely inaugurating a census committee and condemning gunmen attacks in Plateau that claimed almost 100 lives, ordering security agencies to swing into action.

On Thursday, Mr Tinubu, through a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said he had been “overseeing critical national issues” from Europe while assuring citizens “that governance proceeds without interruption” despite his absence from the country.

This has sparked reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many berating Mr Tinubu’s remote presidency amid a resurgence of wanton killings across the country.

An X user, @Joshuaezs, said, “This is proper mad, innit? Tinubu’s out here chilling in London, saying he’s running Nigeria like it’s a Zoom call, while Boko Haram’s causing chaos back home—150 people dead.

“Peter Obi’s got a point, yeah, slating him for being AWOL. Reckon it’s a right two and eight, leaving the country in a mess like that.”

@Masonndubisi3 said, “Thank you Mr presido, from Paris to London while numbers of humans are dying every day; also remember to visit Afghanistan.”

Another X user, @RealUcheOkoro, said, “It is utterly perplexing that President Bola Tinubu continues to direct the affairs of state from Europe for nearly two weeks. This raises serious questions about his fitness for office; he is unqualified even for a local government chairmanship.”

He added, “Historically, no credible leader from the West would abandon their nation for such an extended period. This detachment from reality undermines the very essence of presidential responsibility and accountability.”

Another X user, @anuforo, said, “Nigeria has gone since the APC took power in 2015. What we are seeing today is the shadow, remnants and rancours of the former Giant of Africa.

“Tinubu running Nigeria from Paris/London means we are becoming weaker than before.”

@Ogechukwuchime said, “Buhari started this virtual government style, Tinubu came, added fintech style. Nigerians are now sheep without shepherd.”

PoliticsNigeria’s Economic Outlook Marked By Significant Uncertainty – IMF by Bobloco(op): 6:01pm On Apr 18, 2025
· Says reforms yet to benefit all Nigerians

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, has said that Nigeria is still facing significant uncertainty in its economic outlook despite wide ranging reforms.

Concluding its 2025 Article IV Consultations with Nigeria’s public policy executives during the week, IMF’s team, led by Axel Schimmelpfennig, its mission chief for Nigeria, acknowledged that Nigeria has taken important steps to stabilize the economy, enhance resilience, and support growth.

They added that these reforms have put Nigeria in a better position to navigate the external environment.

However, they have concluded that the macroeconomic outlook is marked by significant uncertainty, adding that the elevated global risk sentiment and lower oil prices would impact the Nigerian economy.

They also concluded that gains have yet to benefit all Nigerians saying that poverty and food insecurity remain high.

They, therefore, recommended that macroeconomic policies need to further strengthen buffers and resilience, reduce inflation, and support private sector-led growth.

The final report of the consultations stated: “The Nigerian authorities have taken important steps to stabilize the economy, enhance resilience, and support growth.

‘The financing of the fiscal deficit by the central bank has ceased, costly fuel subsidies were removed, and the functioning of the foreign exchange market has improved.

‘Gains have yet to benefit all Nigerians as poverty and food insecurity remain high.

‘The outlook is marked by significant uncertainty. Elevated global risk sentiment and lower oil prices impact the Nigerian economy.

‘‘The reforms since 2023 have put the Nigerian economy in a better position to navigate this external environment. ‘‘Looking ahead, macroeconomic policies need to further strengthen buffers and resilience, while creating enabling conditions for private sector-led growth.

“The authorities communicated to the mission that they will implement the 2025 budget in a manner that is responsive to the decline in international oil prices. A neutral fiscal stance would support monetary policy to bring down inflation.

‘To safeguard key spending priorities, it is imperative that fiscal savings from the fuel subsidy removal are channeled to the budget.

‘In particular, adjustments should protect critical, growth-enhancing investment, while accelerating and broadening the delivery of cash transfers under the World Bank-supported program to provide relief to those experiencing food insecurity.

“A tight monetary policy stance is required to firmly guide inflation down. The Monetary Policy Committee’s data-dependent approach has served Nigeria well and will help navigate elevated macroeconomic uncertainty.

‘‘Announcing a disinflation path to serve as an intermediate target can help anchor inflation expectations.”

The IMF team had met with Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Yemi Cardoso, senior government and central bank officials, the Ministry of the Environment, the private sector, academia, labor unions, and civil society.

What has he not done?
He has done more than any president in the history of Nigeria at this time in their presidency!
We should make a compilation of his achievements soon.
You're absolutely right. President Tinubu has inflicted more pain, anguish, and hardship on Nigerians than any other president in recent memory. His so-called economic reforms, draped in the guise of progress, have in reality been nothing more than draconian policies have successfully crushed the average Nigerian, deepened poverty, and widened the gap between the powerful and the powerless.

What he brands as reform, the people experience as suffering. The cost of living has skyrocketed. Jobs have disappeared. Basic necessities are now luxuries for many families. And through it all, his administration continues to sell a narrative of sacrifice and patience, while the political elite remain untouched, comfortably insulated from the consequences of the very policies they impose.

Omonigeriarere:
Fubara would have contested and won without the solid support received from 'emperor' in the first instance. Fubara who is not an emperor has the guts to remove legislators and rule without third arm of government for foreseable period and you are comfortable with that.

The demolition of the state house of assembly all in an attempt to prevent the state legislators from holding any valid meeting was in order in your right sense I know. But you start singing like a parrot, when the table turns around.

I have no pity for Fubara at all.
One of the most damaging things a person can do to their mental health is to tell barefaced lies and then attempt to convince themselves they are true. Such self-deception is a guaranteed path to psychological ruin.

Now, le's look at it, did the legislators in question create an enabling environment for Governor Fubara to work harmoniously with them? These are the very same legislators openly loyal to Wike a man who has publicly declared his intent to remove Fubara using this same legislators.

So I ask you, if you were in Fubara’s position, would you have allowed it? Would Wike, during his own tenure as governor, have tolerated such open sabotage from within the House? Let’s not pretend we don’t know the answer.

The truth is that Wike is the root cause of the political unrest in Rivers State. And he is emboldened by the protection and patronage of the Tinubu-led federal government a government that has handed him a seat at the Federal Executive Council. It is this backing that empowers him to meddle, disrupt, and destabilize governance in Rivers State with impunity.

Let me be clear: if President Tinubu were to dismiss Wike from his ministerial position today and issue a firm directive for him to cease all interference in Rivers State affairs, this crisis would swiftly come to an end. But that will not happen because their alliance is built on mutual self-interest, not the welfare of the people they claim to serve.

PoliticsTinubu's Easter Message to Nigerians by Bobloco(op): 3:26pm On Apr 18, 2025
PRESIDENT TINUBU'S EASTER MESSAGE TO THE NATION

I heartily felicitate Christians in Nigeria and worldwide as they commemorate Easter, the celebration of Jesus Christ's crucifixion and resurrection—the cornerstone of the Christian faith.

The Holy Week, which spans Palm Sunday through Holy Thursday and Good Friday and culminates in Easter Sunday, calls us to reflect deeply on the enduring values of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope.

As President of our blessed nation, I draw inspiration from this timeless message of hope and renewal. I remain steadfast in my commitment to delivering the promise of a Renewed Hope, a better, more just, and prosperous Nigeria for all.

The recent tragic incidents and the loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply saddened me. I understand the pain and fear these incidents have caused. Let me assure you that my administration's resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable. Forces of evil will never prevail over our country. I have given clear directives to the Armed Forces and all relevant security agencies to end insecurity decisively and without delay. With the unwavering courage and commitment of our gallant men and women in uniform, we are turning the tide and making steady progress in reclaiming peace and stability.

We are also grateful to all Nigerians for your patience and resilience as our economy begins to show encouraging signs of recovery. We understand the economic challenges many of you are facing, and we are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence, stabilise key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that serves the interests of all Nigerians.

During this Easter, we join the global Christian community in thanking God for Pope Francis's recovery. We pray that his renewed strength continues to inspire his leadership and service to humanity.

I earnestly pray that Easter's spirit fills every heart and home with renewed faith in the immense possibilities ahead of us as a nation. Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenge we face. The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day.

I urge all Nigerians to remain hopeful, united, and resolute in pursuing national progress. The task before us is enormous, but together, with faith and determination, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome. Our unity and resilience are our greatest strengths.

May the risen Christ bless our homes with peace and our nation with continued unity and prosperity.

Happy Easter to all my fellow Nigerians

Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria

PoliticsTinubu Will Remain Unpopular Until His Policies Start Producing Results –sani by Bobloco(op): 3:17pm On Apr 18, 2025
A former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to be unpopular until his policies start producing positive results.

Sani stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He said that the president was setting a standard in Nigeria by allowing even people from the South West to criticize him.

He said, “When I stood up in the parliament to speak about the insecurity in the north, I faced serious resistance from senators from northern part of Nigeria.

“You were expected to be quite and embrace whatever it is because the president came from your region.

“Any attempt by you to raise alarm on the killings in the north or poverty in the north or the out-of-school children issue when Buhari was there, you would be reminded that you should not damage the image of the president because you come from that part of the country.

“Tinubu is embarking on a project he knows very well he will be unpopular. You either do two things: please people by doing what the people want, or to look at the future of the country where we are heading to and lose some popularity or votes for you to achieve it. Tinubu will continue to be unpopular untill the results of the reform start coming out.”

ElevationD:
Look, Wike is deeply suffering from his loss in the PDP primaries to Atiku. Over the time, Wike systematically eliminated prospective Igbo candidates like Umahi and Peter Obi from PDP, thinking that he would get the PDP ticket. He pretended to be the Igbo man from the South South and his strategy failed him. He’s still crying over that loss.

Coming to the election proper, there was no way Wike could have scored nearly the total of Obi’s vote, if he won the PDP ticket.

First, he was already a known sadist, a violent person and a very cruel leader. Northern leaders would not have accepted him.

Rivers state consistently always produced over 1m votes for PDP. Right under his nose and even with his alliance with APC, he only a polled a total of 231,591 votes for Tinubu, while Obi polled 175,071 votes and PDP scored 88,000 votes. The same Obi brushed APC and PDP aside in Abuja. Where’s the social media.

The reality facing the likes of Wike is that Obi is now a huge mountain to climb. They have lost sleep over Obi.

Now Wike has another huge hurdle in Rivers state with Fubara. That’s why he quickly got his own zonal PDP exco, so that he can produce the next Governorship candidate. All Fubara has to do to return, is to secure the LP ticket and that’s it for Wike in Rivers state. He gradually is making himself a political leper and clings to Tinubu desperately to survive. Tinubu too has given him the condition to remain with him.
Well said

Atleast he said the matter is in court, which means he's using legal means to fight his battle. Same cannot be said of opposition sponsoring insecurity and terrorism against the ruiling Government.
What exactly is he fighting, if I may ask?

Is this fight truly for the interest of the people of Rivers State, or is it just for his own selfish gain?
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Is A Social Media Candidate, I Won't Support Him In 2027 - Wike by Bobloco:
Wike is describing Peter Obi as a "social media candidate" the same Peter Obi who defeated the so-called Lagos blueprint builder in his own backyard, beating him blue-black like a common criminal, securing over six million votes nationwide in the last general elections, and who is currently the biggest political figure in Nigeria with a massive, organic followers.

Wike must be intoxicated probably from gulping forty-year-old whiskey when he made that statement. In fact, if I may borrow the words of Chidi Odinkalu, Wike has consumed a lot of deadly alcohol again
