Pbatmedia: President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit on January 27-28, 2025.
The Summit, hosted by the government of Tanzania in collaboration with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank, aims to advance ‘‘Mission 300,’’ an initiative to provide electricity access to 300 million people in Africa by 2030.
In Dar es Salaam, African leaders, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society groups will strategise to accelerate energy access across the continent.
The Summit will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, expertise, and resources to address Africa’s energy challenges.
Discussions will focus on accelerating energy access in underserved regions, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and mobilising private sector investment.
On the first day, at the ministerial level, participating countries, including Nigeria, will present their national energy strategies, termed compacts, detailing their approaches to achieving universal energy access within five years.
On the second day, Heads of State will endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, outlining a unified roadmap for Africa’s progress towards the Mission 300 objectives.
President Tinubu will deliver a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal access to energy and its leadership role in Africa’s energy sector.

Politics › What CBN Must Do To Win Fight Against Rising Inflation – World Bank, IMF by Bobloco(op): 8:07am On Jan 26, 2025 |
The World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund have told the Central Bank of Nigeria how to win a fight aimed at tackling the country’s inflation. This comes as the World Bank and IMF said the apex bank must stick to orthodox methods of tackling inflation, which stood at 34.80 percent in December 2024. The Senior Economist for Nigeria, World Bank Group, Dr. Sameer Matta, and Nigeria Country Representative, International Monetary Fund, Dr. Christian Ebeke, made this known at the launch of the 2025 Macroeconomic Outlook of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group themed: ‘Stabilisation in Transition: Rethinking Reform Strategies For 2025 and Beyond.’ Speaking during a panel session at the event, Matta said, “I think what is critical in terms of inflation is to stay the course. “I think that the central bank needs to continue to be focused on making sure that inflation is under control. Obviously, part of it is related to the supply side. “What can be done to improve the yield on the agriculture side? What can be done to improve the link between the rural areas and the urban areas? “There is the question of what can be done on the trade policy side. One would be to increase production locally, but that would take time. “One of the things that can be done on the trade policy side is to think through which sectors could be targeted to allow some tariffs to be adjusted.” On her part, Ebeke reinstated calls for coordination between the fiscal and monetary authorities. He said, “It’s important that efforts to bring inflation down by the fiscal authorities are being done in the context of better coordination. “For example, one of the key decisions that took place last year was the commitment by both the central bank and the fiscal authorities to strengthen coordination. “We didn’t see Ways and Means accrue again as we have seen in the past year in Nigeria, and it was welcome. “This is something that should bring inflation down by tightening financial conditions but also by reducing money in circulation.” “The other important thing for the fiscal authorities to do is to tackle any distribution consequences of the reforms that have been implemented,” Ebeke said. DAILY POST reports that since the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Olayemi Cardoso assumed office, the Monetary Policy Committee has continued to raise interest rate aimed at tackling inflation. Nigeria’s interest rate was raised from 18.75 percent at the end of 2023 to 27.50 percent in November, 2024. While CBN believed its efforts were yielding results, financial experts such as the Centre for Promotion of Private Enterprise have called for a pause. https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/26/what-cbn-must-do-to-win-fight-against-rising-inflation-world-bank-imf/ |

9jatriot: Let no one deceive you, lamba king had to go and study Philosophy because he could not get admission into the real courses he wanted to study.
I mean, how can your parents send you to a reputable secondary school like Christ the King College, and you came out with pass in both English and Maths where other local public schools around you were able to pass their subjects with flying colors?
Look at his selection of subjects that he sat for, one can easily tell that he wanted to study a social science course like Economics, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Management etc, but his poor result must have forced him to study a course where the requirement was low and he could easily secure admission. It is people like him that makes it difficult to force kids to take their education serious because I am sure the intelligent ones in his class would perhaps be doctors, engineers, lawyers, Architects and somehow he will start mocking them that for their level of intelligence, he turned out better than them.
The fact that he attempted Economics, Chemistry and government clearly shows what he really wanted to further with in the university. If he wanted to study Philosophy from the beginning, the art subjects would have contained more of subjects like literature, History, etc
Even Buhari passed his English Language in WAEC, yet this his obidient supporters called Buhari dullard for more than 8 years. Normally, I am not one to mock people based on their level of academic intelligence as I have seen people with poor academic records go on to make it in life, some of the back benchers those days ironically also do well but this lamba king always wants to claim what he is not, forming saint hence the need to call him out.
Also for 8 years, his followers called Buhari a pedophile because he married Aisha Buhari at 19 years old, well it turns out that Gregory or Peter Obi depending on which of his certificate you are looking at, married Margaret when she was just 17 years old, so using the same criteria used on Buhari, who is now the pedophile?
See Buhari's WAEC Result and See Obi's Result and tell me if there is any significant difference. Compare the result with the transcript of Tiubu and you will see a world of difference Can we see Tinubu's WAEC results? Infact, which Tinubu's transcripts are you referring to |

The two major gladiators in the festering Rivers state political crisis, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara allegedly refused to exchange pleasantries when they met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Villa on Tuesday.
Both Wike and Governor Fubara were part of the delegation from Ogoni that visited the President for a discussion on the possibility of resumption of oil production in Ogoniland.
A source in the meeting said “though both of them posed for a photograph with the President, they did not exchange pleasantries. No hug. No greetings. Everybody went straight for the meeting with the President and after that we all left”.
He said Wike arrived at the Villa from where he went to inspect and commission projects and “immediately after the group photograph with the President, he went back to his duty post.
“As a minister from Rivers, Wike must, as a necessity, be present whenever the President is meeting with a delegation from the state. The meeting was not a platform for the discussion of Rivers political crisis. It was strictly a business parley”.
On whether the President discussed possible reconciliation between the two men, the source said there was no such opportunity. “The President only engaged Magnus (Abe). He told Magnus that he had not been seeing him for some time and Magnus replied that he had been around with the FCT Minister. At that point, Wike confirmed that Magnus had been working with him”, he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/01/meeting-with-tinubu-wike-fubara-refuse-to-greet-each-other/
