court of law A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ejigbo after he allegedly stole a micro finance bank’s security uniform at night, wore it and pretended to be one of the guards. The crime was allegedly committed in Igando, Lagos State, western Nigeria. The suspect, Lucky Mathew, allegedly scaled the fence of Stallion Micro Finance Bank located in Igando in the night around 8.00 pm and stole the bank’s security uniform and wore it. However, after a while, two guards on duty, Adams Ibe and Friday Udoh, noticed the presence of Mathew who was not among the security men attached to the bank. Udoh confronted Mathew to know how and where he got their uniform he wore and who employed him. Mathew, noticing that his motive for entering the bank’s premises had failed, he allegedly attacked Udoh and Ibeh and took to his heels. The security guards raised the alarm and Mathew was apprehended on the street and handed over to the police at Igando Division. During interrogation, Mathew allegedly confessed that he jumped into the bank’s premises through its fence and stole the uniform. The prosecutor, Seargent Babaji Ishaku, charged him with felony and assault under the Criminal Code. He pleaded guilty and told the court he committed the offence but only did that in order to sleep inside the bank on that day. During the fact and sentence, the prosecutor asked the court to sentence him accordingly despite the fact that he did not waste the time of the court. Barrister Mariam Njoku from Legal Aids Council of Nigeria, urged the court to change his plea to ‘not guilty’ since he said he had no intention to commit any crime in the bank. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J. O. E. Adeyemi entered not guilty plea and adjourned the matter till 31 Agugust, 2015 for hearing. He was taklen back to Kikikiri prison pending the outcome of the hearing. sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.org/2015/08/man-charged-with-sneaking-into-bank-at.html |

A Nigerian teen has become the youngest black female to ever fly from one end of America to the other known in aviation parlance as cross country flight. Kimberly Anyadike whose parents are Nigerians broke the U.S. record and entered into the record books when she flew a single-engine Cessna cross-country from her hometown in California to Newport Virginia. Anyadike also became the youngest African American female pilot to complete the journey, which took 13 days. Anyadike Anyadike Anyadike learned to fly at age 12 through the Compton-based Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum, which offers aviation lessons in an after-school program for disadvantaged youths. It was their plane that she flew on her cross-country trip. The brave teenager came up with the idea for the trip on her own. The museum’s founder Robert Petgrave said: “I told her it was going to be a daunting task, but she just said, ‘Put it on. I got big shoulders.’” Anyadike Anyadike In her company for the historic ride were an adult safety pilot and 87-year-old Levi Thornhill, one of the Tuskeegee Airmen during World War II. “They left such a great legacy,” Anyadike said of the American all-black combat unit. “I had big shoes to fill. All they wanted to do was to be patriots for this country. They were told no, that they were silly, that they didn’t have cognitive development to fly planes. They didn’t listen. They just did what they wanted to do.” At least 50 Tuskeegee Airmen autographed the young pilot’s plane during her journey. “I wanted to inspire other kids to really believe in themselves,” Anyadike said. sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.org/2015/08/nigerias-youngest-female-to-pilot-plane.html

8 year old Kaleem suffers from a rare medical condition called macrodactyly, that means he has giant-sized hands. He's been excluded from school and cast out in his local village in India because he is believed to be "the child of the devil". Kaleem's own uncle believes that because his mother visited latrines when she was pregnant with Kaleem that it could have infected him with "demons". A Channel 5 documentary titled 'The Boy with the Giant Hands', follows Kaleem and his family as they prep for life-changing surgery. Kaleem is more than apprehensive but faced with a future of illiteracy and constant bullying it appears it is the only chance for him. As he spends his days playing with a rubber tyre by himself Kaleem says: "I don't go to school because the teacher says the other kids get scared when they look at me." The family travel thousands of miles to visit a leading reconstructive surgeon in southern India, who is convinced he can improve the function in Kaleem's hands. The doctors have to work against the clock during the complicated surgery to manoeuvre between fatty tissues and swollen nerves in Kaleem's hands. The invasive surgery is risky for the malnourished eight-year-old, as he has to build up his strength so he can get his hands reduced to a regular size. The documentary sees Kaleem get his fingers shortened but the recovery could take months before the youngster notices a difference. It's down to the team to help Kaleem get through the intensive post-rehabilitation and convince the local villagers and the school the young boy is not the "devil child". Indian Hemp A suspected armed robbery gang have confessed to the police in Lagos that becoming Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa) smokers led them into violent crime. The gang, was arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of Zone 2 of the Nigeria Police Force based at Onikan, Lagos. One of them, simply identified as Chukwuemeka, says he was introduced into armed robbery after he joined Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa) smokers at a popular suburb of Lagos, Ajegunle. NAN reports that the suspect and three other members of his gang were arrested on July 23 at Ajegunle, while on their way for an operation. NAN learnt that they were actually going to snatch a Toyota car when luck ran out on them. Chukwuemeka, 32, who spoke to NAN at the Zone 2 headquarters, said that having been initiated into smoking Indian hemp he met different gangs involved in violent crimes. “I regret joining Indian hemp smokers. I am a commercial bus driver, but every evening after work, I go to Bola area of Ajegunle to smoke hemp. “I met our gang leader, simply identified as Ogaga at the smoking joint. We exchanged telephone numbers. “And one Sunday, he called me to meet him at Bola that there was a business,’’ he told NAN lamenting his involvement in crime. “I left church after Sunday service to meet Ogaga. While at the place, he told me that there is one Alhaji that we will work for and get paid. “When I heard the title Alhaji, I thought he was a politician. “Few minutes later, one man came and introduced himself as Alhaji. He told us that he needs clean stolen cars to buy and promised to go with us in the operation. “Our job is to snatch the car at gun point and escape; and I agreed. “I regretted coming from the church to where they were planning to go and rob, yet, I agreed to the operation. It is the devil that pushed me.” Speaking to NAN also, Ogaga, 29, who claimed to be a welder, said he was introduced to other members of the gang while in Ikoyi Prison for a similar offence. Ogaga claimed that after regaining his freedom from the prison, he got connected to one Alhaji Onile, who requested him to recruit men to steal cars for him to buy. “I live at No. 45, Ojo Road, Ajegunle. I was in Ikoyi prison between 2009 and 2010 for alleged robbery. I was awaiting trial before I was granted bail. “I was introduced to robbery by one inmate in the prison called Godswill, a.k.a. Commando to one Alhaji Onile. It was after my bail that we decided to rob cars for Alhaji. “We have two locally made pistols and cartridges brought by other members of the gang. I also introduced other members to Alhaji,” he confessed. Another of their members, called Daniel, 28, who claimed to be a sailor in Port Harcourt, said he met Ogaga at new Road Bridge, Bola, Ajegunle. Daniel said he went there to smoke Indian hemp, stressing that Ogaga requested for hemp from him claiming that he had no money to buy that day. “I bought for him and then we became friends. He told me that he has a contact from prisons that would fetch them money. “He said he knows one Alhaji who requested them to work for him. We called Aljhaji and he promised to see us the next day. “Alhaji came and met us in front of Tolu Medical Hospital, Ajegunle. It was at that place I met Chukwuemeka. “Alhaji said that he would take us to a place where he would show to us nice cars that he wants us to steal for him to buy. “He gave us N3,000 to take care of ourselves. The second day, he came with his driver and met us at Koriola Street, Ajegunle, close to where we usually smoke hemp. “We entered his car and were about driving to where we would carry out the operation when SARS men stopped us and arrested everybody. “I regretted being a member of this gang. We would have carried out the operation, but for the arrest,” Daniel said. The last of the four, Oluchukwu, 27, who claimed to be a musician in Anambra, said he came to Lagos to see his brother, one Emeka in Ikoyi Prisons. Oluchukwu said Emeka had been in prison since 2011 for an alleged murder case, adding that his brother gave him Ogaga’s phone number to meet him for assistance. He said he had not been to Lagos before the arrest, noting that Ogaga was to take to him to Ikoyi prisons to see his brother. Oluchukwu said he was arrested by the police at Cele bus stop, while hoping to see Ogaga who had asked him to wait at the bus stop. “Unfortunately for me, I was arrested and only to discover that the Ogaga I was to meet was already in the custody of the police. Reacting to their arrest, the Deputy spokesman of Zone 2 Police Command, ASP Adeyanju Shem, said they were arrested following a tip off. He said that the police had been on their trail but had only arrested these four and hoped to arrest the rest members of the gang that specialised in car snatching. sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.org/2015/08/indian-hemp-led-us-to-armed-robbery.html

iks APC says Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu who is a member of PDP must be removed from office. Senator Ekweremadu who was also the deputy senate president in the last administration, was elected deputy senate president during the controversial senate leadership election on June 9th which produced Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President. A member of the ruling party who spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch, said Ekweremadu serving as deputy senate president will adversely affect President Buhari’s administration. He also added that President Buhari has refused to see Senator Saraki and Hon Dogara since their emergence as Senate President and Speaker. “As deputy senate leader, Ekweremadu is automatically the Chairman, Senate Committee on Constitution Amendment. This is a sensitive position that, statutorily, should not be held by the minority. Ekweremadu and his PDP co-travellers will hamper the policies of the Buhari government. By the virtue of Senate rules, a member of the minority is not supposed to be the deputy senate leader; so, he is occupying the post illegally. We know the body language of some of these elements to anti-corruption. Nigerians know the stance of Buhari on corruption and insecurity. These elements occupying positions in the National Assembly must be removed. Otherwise, this administration is dead on arrival. The President has refused to see Saraki and Dogara since they emerged as senate president and speaker respectively. Both Saraki and Dogara have done everything possible to see the President but he has shunned them because he is not happy about their conduct. You can see that the President has seen the Lawan group; this shows where his support lies” he said sourcehttp://www.pakorumo.com/2015/06/apc-insists-on-deputy-senate-president.html |
Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has challenged US President Barack Obama by asking his hand in marriage. His comment comes at the back of the legalization of gay marriage in the US by the Supreme Court. During Mugabe's weekly radio interview with Zimbabwe’s national radio last Saturday, he said: “I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary , I shall travel to Washington, D.C. , get down on my knee and ask Obama’s hand. I can’t understand how these people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy.'' Mugabe said the American Government is run by pervert, Satan-worshipers who insult the Great American nation. He reportedly added "That the American tradition and heritage was based on lofty Christian principles, but to the detriment of this great nation, America’s corrupt political elite is acting according to their diabolic whims. Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage, the first ever from a sitting president, came amid growing pressure for the president to clarify his previously muddled opinion. Tyga has finally settled with his furious landlord for not paying rents worth $124,000. Reports say a judge ordered the rapper to pay up a settlement of $80,000 by Monday, June 29 else his landlord could sue him to pay the full rent. According to TMZ, both parties -Tyga and his Calabasas Landlord - agreed on that amount to cover back rent payments. But because Kylie Jenner's beau isn't known to pay his debts on time, it's been hoped the matter doesn't drag into a trial where he will be forced to pay the full amount and may be more. Anne Lakey, a headteacher from from Stanley, County Durham, denies 13 counts of indecent assault said to have occurred in the late 1980s A headteacher accused of having sex with two under-age boys in the late 1980s took one teenager's virginity while he was wearing his school uniform, a jury has heard. Anne Lakey, 55, from Stanley, County Durham, denies 13 counts of indecent assault said to have occurred over a three-year period in the late 1980s. Teesside Crown Court heard that, during her affair with one student, she pretended to the boy's mother and rang his school, telling them he was off sick. Caroline Goodwin, prosecuting, said: 'You are going to hear about two young boys who are now adults who each were sexually abused by a woman older, more mature and in a position of trust and responsibility. 'Her conduct towards them demonstrates, in the submission of the Crown, that here was a sexual predator who exploited the situation she was in.' Lakey is accused of repeatedly having sex with one boy when he was 13 or 14 and another when he was 15. Neither can be identified for legal reasons. The prosecution alleged the complainants have not been in contact with each other as adults, were of similar ages at the time and the 'indecent assaults' happened in similar circumstances. 'The single common denominator, say the Crown, is the defendant,' Miss Goodwin said. At the time Lakey was a teacher and the alleged offences represented a 'gross breach of trust,' the court heard. They happened when she was married to Eamon Toland and the younger complainant would go round to her house when her husband was out, the court heard. 'The defendant exploited the vulnerability and immaturity of the complainant, a young boy who was naturally curious about sex,' Miss Goodwin said. 'She flattered him and paid attention to him. It was their secret. (He) became in a way submissive to her sexual demands. She, say the Crown, used him for her own sexual gratification. 'He was a young impressionable teenager being groomed.' Miss Goodwin said, as a teacher, Lakey would be respected, while if he made an allegation against her 'who would believe his account if he came forward?' The prosecution added: 'She breached the trust, that respect and her position in such a way that she would have been fully aware that what she was engaging in was wrong and unlawful. 'She, say the Crown, is a manipulator, well skilled in what she was doing.' Miss Goodwin said: 'This was in neither case a loving relationship, it was the sexual abuse of young vulnerable boys whom she groomed for her own personal gratification.' The younger complainant said he would visit her when he played truant and they formed a friendship which the Crown said was 'plainly wrong'. Their first sexual encounter happened when they played a game of dare and he exposed her breasts and fondled them, the jury was told. On another occasion he was sitting talking to her when she was in the bath. She got out, wrapped herself in a towel, then lay naked on the bed and he followed her, the court was told. He was in his school uniform when he then lost his virginity to her, Miss Goodwin said. After that they had sex regularly, the prosecution said, once or twice a week. On one occasion her husband almost caught them and the teenager was terrified. That fear eventually led him to decide to break off the relationship, Miss Goodwin said. But before that, she rang his school and pretended to be his mother to explain he was off sick, the jury heard. In December 2012, when he was on the internet, he came across Lakey's picture and saw on a blog that she stated her 'raison d'etre was to give young people the best start in life', the court was told. He sent an email to her school, saying he could not believe she was still working with children, and that she should not be allowed 'anywhere near young people, especially boys'. He claimed she had sex with him when he was 13, and called her 'a disgusting sexual monster'. The trial continues. Teesside Crown Court heard Lakey abused her position of trust over the boys to sexually groom them sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.com/2015/06/55-years-oldfemale-headteacher-accused.html

First Lady Mrs Patience Jonathan has denied allegations of plotting to prevent wife of the President-elect, Aisha Buhari from replacing her as President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM). Mrs Jonathan had in April sent out a letter of invitation to other first Ladies calling for the 8th AFLPM summit to be held in Abuja on May 15th where they will discuss on how to facilitate a smooth and formal hand over to the new Executive Committee that will pilot the affairs of the Peace Mission for the next two years, a move some people found to be against Mrs Buhari assuming her position after May 29th when her husband will have been sworn in. In a statement released by her media aide, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, Mrs Jonathan said there was an understanding in the Mission that the summit will hold on the 15th of May, 2015 if Pres. Jonathan loses the 2015 Presidential election. The statement after the cut "Our attention has been drawn to various newspapers and social media reports alleging that Nigeria hosting of 8th Summit of the African First Ladies Peace Mission Summit on May 15, 2015 is a grand design by the First Lady, Dame (Dr) Patience Faka Jonathan to either “rig out” or “deny” the in-coming First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari the opportunity to assume the Presidency and host the said summit in the absence of the incumbent. We would have ignored this barrage of uncharitable fallacies, but for the fact that the mischief makers have not relented in their efforts to deceive the unsuspecting members of the public with lies and half truth, hence this clarification to set the record straight. It would be recalled that Nigeria’s Hajia Turai Yar’Adua was elected President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission during the 6th Summit in February 2008 in Congo Brazzaville for a term of two years. Her tenure ought to have come to an end in 2010 when she should have organized a Summit to elect a successor and hand over accordingly. The unfortunate incident that led to her sudden exit from office is well known and need not be mentioned here. This inability of the former President to officially hand over created a leadership vacuum in the African First Ladies Peace Mission for some time until Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan was prevailed upon by her colleagues, the African First Ladies to convene the Summit in July 2012 at which she was subsequently elected President to serve for two years. For the avoidance of doubt, according to its internal regulation, the tenure of office of President of African First Ladies Peace Mission is for a period of two years only. This therefore implies that the tenure of office of the incumbent President ought to have ended in 2014, when a fresh election should have held for a new Executive"the statement read. sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.com/2015/05/african-first-ladies-summit-leadership.html |
The father of a 26-year-old pregnant woman, who was murdered in the Arepo area of Ogun State last week, has blamed President Goodluck Jonathan for the incident. Mr. Babafemi Ojo, whose daughter Damilola Fajana, was killed on April 28, said this in a statement. The father said, “My daughter was killed in a crossfire while driving back home after a hard day’s job. Damilola was a 26 year old pregnant lawyer. She was a graduate of the University of Ado Ekiti. “President Jonathan is linked to her death by the reason of his patronage of people who have no basic training in arms and weaponry — in the business of pipeline protection, a very dangerous security enterprise which is supposed to fall under the purview of trained Nigerian security agencies.” He added that, “The unconstitutional empowerment of ethnic militias has resulted in the deaths of many innocent Nigerians, particularly in Arepo area of Ogun State." Mr Ojo said it was unfortunate that Jonathan could hire the services of the OPC and award the group a huge contract just because he wanted to win an election. His daughter was killed by a stray bullet during a gun battle between the OPC and pipeline vandals. source:www.olokunbolablessing.com/2015/05/president-jonathan-blamed-for-death-of.html#more

Shabana Bibi, died in hospital on Saturday April 18 The heartbroken brother of Pakistan's latest 'honour killing' victim - burned alive because she left the house without permission - said he will set himself alight if he does not get justice. Shabana Bibi, 25, from the Muzaffargarh district of the country, died in hospital on Saturday after suffering burns to 80 per cent of her body. Police have arrested her husband Muhammad Siddique and father-in-law Pir Bakhsh. Bibi's brother, Muhammad Azam said Siddique became enraged on learning his wife had visited her sister without first asking him if she could go out. His father then beat Bibi before dousing her with petrol on April 17, Azam added. Bibi had been married to Siddique for three years, during which time she had suffered repeated domestic abuse because the couple couldn't have children, her brother explained. However, Azam says police believe Bibi committed suicide, despite the arrests. He also said police have not provided him with a copy of the crime report despite repeated requests. 'I would set myself on fire in front of the office of the district police chief if I did not get justice,' he said. District police chief Rai Zameer-ul-Haq said: 'We have arrested the husband and father-in-law of the deceased woman and charged them for murder and terrorism.' The charge of 'terrorism' is regularly applied in such cases to quicken the legal process. Bibi (not pictured) had been married to Siddique for three years, during which time she had suffered repeated domestic abuse But Naseem, the investigating officer, now says police have no doubt Bibi committed suicide. He said the police investigation will end if three people from the area take an oath on the Quran claiming Bakhsh is innocent. He said police have asked the men to visit the police station tomorrow so the oaths can be made. Hundreds of women are murdered by their relatives in Pakistan each year through domestic violence or on the grounds of defending family 'honour'. The Aurat Foundation, a campaign group that works to improve the lives of women in Pakistan's conservative and patriarchal society, says more than 3,000 women have been killed in such attacks since 2008. sourcehttp://www.olokunbolablessing.com/2015/04/woman-burned-alive-because-she-left.html
