The death of Saudi Arabia’s monarch, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on Friday, January 23, has ushered in a new regime in the royal kingdom.

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was the Crown Prince until Abdullah’s death, has ascended the throne previously occupied by his late half-brother.

Here are 10 things you should know about the new King of Saudi Arabia:

He was born on 31 December 1935.

He is the child of late King Abdul Aziz bin al-Saud, who was the founder of modern day Saudi Arabia.

He is one of the "Sudairi Seven", an influential faction within the royal family consisting of the seven sons of King Abdulaziz by a favourite wife, Princess Hassa al-Sudairi.

He was the Governor of Riyadh from 1955-1960 and again from 1963 to 2011.

He was appointed Defence Minister in 2011 upon the death of his brother Crown Prince Sultan.

He was named Crown Prince and heir apparent to the throne in 2012.

He owns important stake in one of the Arab world's largest media groups.

He is believed to have suffered at least one stroke that has left him with limited movement in his left arm.

He ascended the throne on Friday, January 23, 2015.

He will be succeeded by half-brother, Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, the youngest surviving son of the late King Abdulaziz who has been named Crown Prince.

An accident that occurred early hours of this morning around 5.30am on Ikorodu road towards Ketu has killed many people rushing out to work. A said trailer carrying a container was said to have fallen on a commercial bus which killed many of its passengers. The long container also fell on another vehicle behind. Really really sad. I was Stuffing the net when a phone rang from a man who introduced himself as forty five year old middle aged man from Osun State. His mission was to invite me to listen to his pathetic story of how he was forced to go back to re-write his G.C.E at aged 38 having failed his W.A.E.C held some twenty years back.And want me to publish it in my blog.

He has chosen to allow the whole world hear his story so that others could learn from it. And I told him to email it at me.

According to him he had the privilege of having parents that realized the value of education and where prepared to give same to him even though they never were not lettered. They were stack illiterates.

His father was a battery charger operating at Ebute- Metta, Lagos while his mother sells whatever seasonal fruits whenever such is harvested. These could be oranges, walnut, maize .e.tc. His mother was one of those very hardworking and enterprising women that could buy and sell anything that could fetch her money.

She was quite supportive to her husband. His father who whilst he was in school was probably the only battery charger in their Ebute-Metta area of Lagos that sometimes stay over night in his small battery shop to meet the emergency demand of batteries by night crawling car owner should they have problem with their cars at the middle of the night.

Our man, who gave his full name which however will not be mentioned in this story, revealed that his father came from the middle sized town of Ikire, South West Nigeria. His mother is equally from the place. As a boy born and raised in the Kano street area of Ebute-Metta Lagos, he had the privilege of attending the age long St Jude Primary School, Ebute Metta and enrolled at the C.M.S Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos under the principalship of the Chief I.O Olowu of blessed memory.

He was one of the most popular guys of his days in school and was equally rascally. Even though his parents were not buoyant and struggled to pay his school fees from their meagre resources coupled with the problem of having to cope with finances of five of his siblings, his ways of life did not reflect that of the son of struggling parents.

He had been maintaining fleet of girl friends from his days in Form Three which is now J.S III and was quite popular at recreation areas of that part of Lagos which includes, Evans Square, Ebute- Metta, Rowe Park, Yaba and Railway Recreation Club. Even when some of these areas are sporting points he and some other rascally boys of his days were noted for trouble shooting occurrences in the area. The only thing they never did was stealing.

This went on till the completion of his secondary education at which he failed his final exams woefully. And that marked the beginning of his life problems. While some of his friends who also failed, went back to school or attended extra moral classes to prepare to rewrite their exams, he chose not to do so but instead traveled to Ibadan to live with an Uncle who was a commercial driver plying Ibadan to Ilorin.

He was following this Uncle as a Conductor and within a short period learnt driving. His Uncle was able to obtain a professional driving license for him but then, there was no permanent Bus he could drive but for occasional part time trips he often assists some of his colleagues.

This went on for some time until he was offered an appointment by a man as a private driver. Even when the man was a nice gentleman who was taking care of him like his blood brother, trouble came when he used his car for a commercial purpose during which the car was snatched from him by Armed Robbers. He was therefore dealt with as a member of the gang and dumped at the prison custody indefinitely for years.

After his release settling down became a problem and he was forced to go back to the motor garage where he was absorbed but this time as a tout, within some time he regained his stability but people were very carefully dealing with him with caution on their belief that he may well have being guilty of the offence charged against him but might just be lucky to be discharged and acquainted hence no one wants to trust him nor maintain deep acquaintance with him.

Meanwhile, before he was arrested he had put a girl in the family way and a baby was delivered while he was in detention. But the time he was left off the hook, the lady had married an Alhaji who has claimed to be the father of the boy. Even when he reported the matter to the Law enforcement Agencies, nothing came out. The Alhaji was popular and influential and when once he tried to be confrontational, he was assured of being sent back to detention by the Alhaji. His experience in the prison made him to keep his cool and made up his mind to forget everything about the child.

One thing he was sure of was that the woman knew the boy is his and more importantly resembles him. This period had been fifteen years after he left school and unfortunately his father passed on while he was in detention. His mother had relocated to their village while his siblings were scattered with relations and family friends out of sympathy for his mother.

In short, the family has lost its bearing. The only one that could be considered lucky was one of his sisters that got married to a fairly comfortable man. None of the other siblings went further than primary school. He therefore sat down one day and meditated on his journey in life and concluded that he has wasted the better part of his life by not being serious enough at school to pass his final exams which might probably be a step towards a better life. And that if that had happened, he might render some assistance to his junior siblings which might relief his parents’ burden.

He however summoned courage and decided to get a job as a private driver, but the problem is that his Driving license has expired and to raise money became a problem. He therefore decided to join a car wash garage and was making daily contribution of N500.To be continued next week.

Junior student killed his senior prefect with a magic ring

The senior prefect of the Modebe Secondary School, Onitsha, Chukwuebuka Okanume, has been reported dead after he was struck by a Senior Secondary School 1 student after he was struck by a magic ring worn by the junior student.

The 17-year-old Senior Secondary School 3 student, according to the Anambra State Police Command, had queried the assailant for dressing shabbily and the argument later degenerated into fisticuffs which led to the angry junior punching his senior prefect with the mysterious ring.

According to eyewitnesses, the junior student reportedly told the prefect that he was no longer a student of the school and that he came for his transfer certificate to a school in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where he and his parents had relocated, but not convinced, the prefect wanted to punish the offender and a heated argument was said to have ensued between them, resulting in the late senior prefect slapping the junior student believed to be wearing a charmed ring, who was said to have retaliated.

The prefect reportedly slumped and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

It was gathered that the suspect, who was arrested by the police, is believed to be a member of an occult group that used rings as charms, called Etiada (hit and fall) to defend themselves when attacked.

It was learned that all pleas made by the mother of the deceased to the detained junior student to revive her son proved abortive.

The junior student is however being interrogated by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, to ascertain the source of the ring.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Ezeh, who also confirmed the incident, said investigation was ongoing.

According to TMZ, the reported sex tape was once denied by adult film companies because there was no way they would ever get a sign-off from Usher.

Now, the tape has resurfaced and someone is trying to hawk it and he is looking at top and famous bloggers as potential buyers.

However, the site claims, Mark Geragos – who is Usher's lawyer - is aggressively on the hunt to find the person who's trying to cash in.

Ace Nigerian comedian, AY Makun and his wife Mabel show off the newly refurbished interior of their home.
The entire interior decoration of the home was done by the wife of comedian/actor/club owner of Lekki Club MVP Mabel Makun. The mother of one owns an interior decoration company called Midas Interior Ltd.

According to reports, Nigerian politicians will not have the privilege of featuring their adverts on America’s Cable News Network, popularly known as CNN.
The Cable is reporting that CNN has been refusing advertisements with political messages meaning that anything that has to do with the 2015 elections will not be accepted.
CNN adverts are reported to be among the most expensive in the world, costing as much as N5 million for a 30-second run, but they are still very much favoured because of the channel’s reputation.
A consultant to a Nigerian presidential aspirant told The Cable:

“We approached CNN agents in Nigeria to place some adverts for our principal. We sent the creative to them as requested and they returned them saying they do not run commercials that are intended to campaign for votes. We could not believe it.”
The account manager of CNN International, Ashley Hogan-Gancarz however said that the network is not just refusing Nigerians as it is a general rule not to accept certain adverts.
“CNN International never accepted political or religious advertising. This is due to Of com regulations.”
“If you want to promote investment, opportunities etc. that would be fine but nothing to do with politics or the 2015 election,” she said.
CNN International oversees it African operations from the UK and Ofcom regulates the nation's communications sector.
Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan is set to officially declare his interest in a second term today, November 11 and event is expected to hold in 3 countries including the UK and the US.

A US woman has proven you're never too old for just about anything by skydiving to celebrate her 100th birthday.

ELEANOR Cunningham kissed her seven-month-old great great granddaughter before suiting up for her jump at Saratoga Skydiving in Gansevoort. It was her third jump, after taking up the sport at age 90.
Cunningham lives with her granddaughter in their home in central New York. Her doctor signed off on the skydiving expedition, saying her health makes her more than capable of doing what she loves.

Dean McDonald of Saratoga Skydiving says Cunningham is his oldest jump partner yet.

The missing Nigerian Air Force Alpha Fighter Jet (NAF 466) may have been found at the bank of River Benue.

The fighter jet, said to have been missing since September 12, was believed to have had two pilots on board before it disappeared.

The plane had reportedly left the Yola International Airport at about 10:45 am on a routine operational mission to some areas in the state under attacks by members of the Boko Haram sect.

The jet that was expected back by 12 noon same day had been missing since while efforts to trace it had failed.

There were unconfirmed reports however on Tuesday that the plane had been found in Kwaine in the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

It had not been confirmed by the NAF search team as of the time of this report if the remains of the aircraft found near the River Benue belonged to the same missing fighter jet the Air Force.

A resident of Kwaine, who preferred anonymity, told our correspondent on phone that the remains of the aircraft was discovered by some fishermen at the bank of River Benue and that the fishermen had alerted security agencies on the discovery.

The resident said the entire area had been cordoned by security operatives.

The NAF Alpha Jet (NAF 466) participated in the counter insurgency operation against the Boko Haram before it went off the radar on Friday, September 12.

Efforts to speak with the Director of Air Force Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, proved abortive. When our correspondent called on the phone, a male voice in his office simply said, “It is only Oga that can speak on the matter.”

Boko Haram insurgents have renamed Mubi Town in Adamawa which they captured after an October 29 invasion.

The new name of the town is ‘Madinatul Islam’, which means the “City of Islam.”

The insurgents are said to have taken total control of Mubi and even established a system of Sharia Law under which they have already amputated 10 “offenders.”

Residents of the area also reportedly said that the terrorists urged them not to flee as they would be safer in Boko Haram territory than elsewhere.

A member of the community who could not escape, one Aliyu Bala, told Vanguard:

“They (insurgents) mounted check-points in strategic locations, brandishing rifles but asking us not to panic or run away. But despite assurances of safety and security, thousands of the trapped residents have been sneaking out as they said they would not risk staying in the town for fear of the unknown.”

The terrorists also reportedly told the residents to go about their normal business but warned that no elections could be held in the state as they would soon take over the whole of Adamawa.

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy who stabbed his teacher to death in front of her class has been warned he may never be released from prison.

IN a murder that shocked Britain, Will Cornick stabbed Ann Maguire, 61, seven times from behind as she taught a Spanish class at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds in April.
On Monday, Mr Justice Coulson called the crime a "monumental act of cowardice and evil" and said he found the teenager's pride and lack of remorse over his actions "truly grotesque".

He told Cornick, who was 15 at the time, he must serve at least 20 years in custody before he is considered for release but he warned him: "It's quite possible that day may never come." The teenager attacked Maguire after boasting to friends he was going to kill her. Cornick also said he was going to murder other teachers, including a pregnant woman "so as to kill her unborn child", Leeds Crown Court heard. He later told doctors: "I said I was going to do other stuff but I never got the chance, other murders.

It was a triple homicide." After the murder Cornick told psychiatrists he "couldn't give a s***" and added: "Everything I've done is fine and dandy." Maguire's family listened as prosecutors described how Cornick winked at another boy before he launched into a savage assault in front of a terrified class full of pupils. Maguire was left with stab wounds the paramedic who attended said were the worst she had seen, including one wound that went straight through her neck and another that cut her jugular vein. Despite the injuries caused by the eight-inch-long kitchen knife, the teacher managed to leave the classroom, pursued by the teenager, until a colleague bundled her into a room, held the door shut to keep Cornick out and grabbed the weapon from the floor. The packed court heard that Cornick went back into the classroom, sat down and said "Good times" in front of his traumatised classmates and then adopted a "bizarre calmness and air of normality". When he was sentenced, as with when he was stabbing Maguire to death, Cornick showed no emotion. Outlining the case, prosecutor Paul Greaney QC said Cornick was in Mrs Maguire's Spanish class and there was nothing to indicate to the boy's parents or teachers a risk of "homicidal violence". But, he said, Cornick told other children he hated Maguire and wanted her dead. The prosecutor said Cornick took a bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey to school to celebrate after the attack. Greaney said Cornick left a room next to where Maguire was teaching and winked at a fellow student before going in to attack her. The prosecutor said: "Undoubtedly, one of the most disturbing aspects of an extremely disturbing case is that William Cornick not only lacks remorse but is proud of what he did in killing Mrs Maguire, who he at one stage described to (a psychiatrist) as barely human." He said the defendant told a psychiatrist: "I wasn't in shock, I was happy. "I had a sense of pride. I still do." Cornick added: "I did not have a choice. It was kill her or suicide.'' Greaney quoted lead prosecution psychiatrist John Kent, saying that Cornick's own words showed a "gross lack of empathy for his victim and a degree of callousness rarely seen in a clinical practice". Mrs Maguire was killed after teaching at Corpus Christi for more than 40 years. She was due to retire in September.

According to reports, the former Cash Money rapper hacked into Chyna's social media Sunday Nov. 2 and pretended to be her sending bunch of angry tweets just because she tagged Drake, 28, on Instagram.
“I’m a gold digger and a cheater. I never really loved Tyga. It was always about the money,” read one tweet, which has since been deleted, with the spelling errors corrected by HollywoodLife.com.
Three more tweets were posted, in which presumably Tyga, 24, wrote that he helped her overcome her alcohol addiction and open “multiple” businesses. Not to mention the tweet that states Tyga gave Blac Chyna a “beautiful” family.

Did this all start because Blac Chyna tagged Drake in an Instagram photo? Unfortunately, the photo seems to have been deleted now.
If Blac Chyna really did tag Drake in a photo, then she probably knew what she was doing was going to piss off her ex.
Just a few days earlier on Oct. 27, Tyga released a new track called “Make It Work” in which he disses an old friend without naming him.

Looks like Drake wants everything to do with his record label mate Nicki Minaj and he is using Instagram to tell her so!

Drake is surely using social media to send a sexy message to his lady friend Nicki, 31 and speculations are that the Canadian native wants his newly-single label mate as his official girlfriend!

In a fan-made cartoon that Drake posted on Instagram, Saturday, Nicki is singing into a microphone while giving him a sex lap dance and a little bubble of Drake's head says, “How about now?”

He captioned, "@nickiminaj now?" a.k.a 'Nicki could you get a little freaky with me now that you are single again?'.

Meanwhile, Nicki’s new song, “Only” revealed that she and former flame Drake have never hooked up, but the rapper seems to be sending a message to her that it’s time for them to really get down.

THE FIRST pictured has emerged of a New York man who beheaded his mother and kicked her head along the street before throwing himself in front of a train.

Derek Ward, 35, allegedly hacked off the head of his mother, Patricia Ward, 66, with a knife in the apartment he shared with her in Long Island.

Ward, who was unemployed and had a long history of mental illness, reportedly dragged her decapitated body out onto the street on Tuesday this week. Because the remains lay near a home decorated with pumpkins, fake cobwebs and a mock graveyard, witnesses initially thought it was a Halloween prank.

Ms Ward’s brother, Reverend Robert Lubrano, told the New York Daily News that his sister died because she had been unable to obtain medication in time to treat her son’s mental illness.

“He killed my sister because we couldn’t get the prescriptions he needed. For four days, he didn’t have his meds,” Rev Lubrano said, adding that Ms Ward had scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist for Friday, three days after she died.
Ward was seen kicking his mother’s head about 6m down the street.

“I literally thought it was a prank,” one witness told WCBS 880. “We saw the body on one side and saw the head on the other side. I thought everything was a prank.”

Ms Ward was a languages professor at Farmingdale State College for nearly three decades, and a spokesman for the institution described her as “well-known, well-liked and well-respected”.

She was believed to have suffered multiple stab wounds and broken ribs before she died.

About 25 minutes after the murder, Ward jumped in front of an eastbound train on the Long Island Rail Road line.

Mr Sehun Adepegba makes good his promise of reuniting with his abandoned kidsThe power of the media was once again shown when the father who allegedly abandoned his three children in a boarding school eight years ago, Mr. Segun Adepegba, has been reunited with the kids after the news broke and became viral.

A week ago, the news had broken how Adepegba dumped the kids at Solid Rock Model College, Abule-Iroko, Ogun State, and for eight years, had not showed up to take care of his responsibilites. The Punch Newspaper which broke the story, did a follow up and got in contact with Mr Adepegba, who explained the circumstances that led to his abandoning the kids and also promised that he would pay them a visit before the week ran out.

And true to his words, he visited the school and got reunited with his children and could not hold back the tears when he saw his kids.

Adepegba reportedly told his children:

I am sorry for leaving you, Titi, Seun and Seyi. I am really very sorry. I have missed you all so much. I will not leave you again.

Report said when he arrived the school, an angry mob was prevented from attacking him when they learnt he was the father of the 'abandoned children.'

The father of three was accompanied by four friends, who pleaded on his behalf, saying that he was a changed person.

Recounting his ordeal, the school proprietor, Mr Samuel Ayegbusi, said he suffered in the hands of the police when one of the children, Titilola, a girl, ran away from the school.

When Titilola ran away from the school and I went to report the matter at the Sango Ota Police Division, the police arrested me, saying I was the first suspect.

The matter caused trouble in this community and the issue dented my image. I was forced to cough out close to N50,000 to be bailed.

Although Adepegba’s children were happy that their father was back, they are still longing to meet their mother. Adepegba promised that he would look for their mother. Giving her name as Ruth Okochi from Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, he promised to look for her for the sake of the kids.

I know a place she lives in Abuja but I am not sure if she still lives there. I owe it a responsibility to find her for the sake of my children.

AN inhalable love drug from Melbourne that could prevent 300,000 women from dying during childbirth will be fast-tracked after it got a $16.6 million dollar boost.
Oxytocin is routinely given to women to prevent excessive bleeding after birth, but it is not available in many developing countries because it must be refrigerated and given by trained health professionals.
The Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University has developed a dry inhalable version of the drug, which will be fast-tracked into development and clinical trials.
The technology has been licensed to pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, and will also receive funding from the McCall MacBain Foundation and Grand Challenges Canada.
The idea is to ensure the drug is heat stable, so it does not have to be stored in the fridge. Delivering it via a puffer would make it more accessible to more women giving birth in low-resource areas or outside medical facilities.
It’s estimated a woman dies from post-partum haemorrhaging every three minutes.

A YOUNG Sydney woman allegedly involved in the syndicated manufacture and supply of homemade pen guns has been charged.

THE 25-year-old was arrested at a West Hoxton home on Wednesday morning following weeks of investigations by firearms and organised crime squad detectives, during which 15 pen guns have been seized.
The guns fire a .22 calibre round.

"These weapons have been made by people with no qualifications or skills in firearm manufacturing," Detective Superintendent Mick Plotecki said.

"They are crudely built and as a result very dangerous both for the person firing the weapon and anyone in the near vicinity."

The woman has been charged with supplying a prohibited firearm to an unauthorised person.

She's been granted conditional bail and is due before Liverpool Local Court on October 22.

Two men have also been caught in the operation.

Several offences relating to the manufacture and supply of unregistered and prohibited firearms have been laid against one of the men, 27, whose matters are before the courts.

Investigations continue.

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have started legal action against a photographer amid reports that he tried to take a picture of Prince George in a London park.

“The Duke and Duchess have taken legal steps to ask that an individual ceases harassing and following both Prince George and his nanny as they go about their ordinary daily lives,” a spokesman for the royal couple said.

“An incident last week has prompted their royal highnesses to seek reasonable assurances from the individual about his behaviour. The individual was spotted at a central London park in the vicinity of Prince George, who was removed from the park immediately.

“There is reason to suspect that the individual may have been placing Prince George under surveillance and monitoring his daily routines for a period of time.

Newborn baby found in toilet pipe after young girl gives birth and runs
A young student in a university in China, who hid her pregnancy throughout, gave birth to a baby girl inside a toilet pipe, hoping the baby would flush down the pipe. Fortunately the pipe wasn't wide enough to take the baby down and so her body became wedged a short way down the pipe. The baby immediately started crying and the new mum fled. Fortunately, the baby's cries was loud enough to attract the attention of other students who immediately raised an alarm.

Firemen were called to the student dormitory in the city of Linyi in China's Shandong Province, and they immediately went to work to free the new born



But firemen couldn't free the child from above (pictured during the rescue mission). Fire Brigade spokesman Tao Fang told a local newspaper

"It was impossible to get the baby out from above. She had fallen into the toilet and gone down the pipes were she had got stuck between the third and fourth floors. We used an angle grinder to break open the pipeline on the third floor and we could then push the child up to colleagues on the fourth floor where she was handed to medics who were waiting to take her to hospital."

The police tracked down the child's mother who was a student living in the hotel and they took her to the hospita; and who was also taken to hospital. Police say they are waiting to question her before deciding what she might be charged with.

Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, who is currently in divorce court with his estranged wife Anita Oyakhilome has denied adultery accusations and has threatened to sue journalists who publish stories about himself and his wife. In a statement released via his lawyer Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) a few hours ago, Pastor Oyakhilome said the accusations of adultery against him is 'false and malicious'.

"The attention of our client, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, and the church has been drawn to the wave of false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between him and his wife," his attorney stated. Sharply criticizing the recent coverage of the divorce proceedings, which the statement did not refute, the release claimed that publishers went so far as to fabricate claims that he had committed adultery against his wife, Anita. Chris Oyakhilome characterized the media's coverage of his wife's efforts to divorce him as “complete distortion of the facts in the pending proceedings in the United Kingdom”, the statement cited the coverage as "selfishly motivated" for political and financial advantage.

Oyakhilome's counsel further said the media's coverage was engineered to bring him and the church shame and ridicule, though his wife was the person who aired the allegations against him.
