Politics / Re: Lagos Built 10.4MW Power Plant, To Be Inaugurated In August. by bodmasfem(m): 2:03pm On May 23, 2013
Sincere 9gerian:
"The one in Lagos Island is powering 2 hospitals, government buildings and 21 streets"- Eko ile

Here you go again with your silly lies. Can you show us anywhere in the report where it was mentioned that the 10MW power plant in Lagos Island is powering "21 streets"?

Cant you do your work without telling naked LIES?

POINT OF CORRECTION: The 10MW lagos Island power plant is powering only the following structures, as enumerated by your paymaster himself (Fashola):

"He (Fashola) enumerated the structures and areas to benefit from the Island Power Project to include the Lagos High Court, J.I.C Taylor Magistrate Courts, the Island Maternity Hospital, the Lagos House, Marina and street lights in at least 20 streets on the island"
http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/news2.php?k=1134

While it is commendable that the state govt is SAVING COST by building mini power plants to serve state owned structures, the fact is that people are not yet benefiting DIRECTLY from this exercise. Yes some hospitals and streets lights are powered by this power plant but peoples homes and offices are yet to benefit.

So the whole exercise for now, put in proper perspective, is a commendable COST SAVING measure. It will also help free some load from the national grid.

By the way, I hope the ACN e-warriors will also jubilate if the FG announces it built small power plants for Aso Rock or other state establishments.

Just to add that some other states have also done mini power plants. Ebonyi state is one perfect example but I think theirs also serve some residents
u are a big liar, Martins Elechi did not do anything like power plant because i reside in Eza road, in Abakaliki!!

Politics / Tribunal Upholds The Election Of Mimiko As The Governor Of Ondo State by bodmasfem(m): 8:02pm On May 06, 2013
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting over the governorship election in Ondo State on Friday declared the Labour Party (LP) candidate and the governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, as the winner of the October 20 governorship election in the state.
The judgement came after the tribunal had sat for about 178 days, listening to arguments and counter-arguments from counsel of the petitioners and the respondents, over the October 20, 2012 governorship poll in the sunshine state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared and returned Mimiko of the LP as winner contest, polling 260, 141 votes against 151,962 scored by chief olusola oke of PDP and 143,512 votes scored by Rotimi Akeredolu(SAN) of the ACN. Not satisfied with the results as announced by the INEC, the opposition approached the tribunal to challenge the declaration of the electoral umpire over what they termed as irregularities in the process of the electoral procedures that produced Mimiko as the state governor for the second term.
The ACN candidate, Akeredolu and Oke of the PDP anchored their petition on the ground that Mimiko was not duly elected; saying the election procedure that produced him was invalid, citing non-compliance with electoral process as stated by the electoral act as amended. The two parties also hinged their argument on the register used by the INEC for the governorship election, claiming that some illegal voters’ names had been injected into the register. The injection, however, was the crux of the matter before the tribunal.
But the LP maintained that the election had been adjudged as one of the best in recent times in the country, adding that the election was fair, free and represented the wish of the majority in the state. After days of arguments and counter-arguments from the petitioners’ and respondents’ counsel, the Andovar Kaka’an-led Tribunal on Friday delivered judgment over the election, dismissing the petitions before the tribunal for lack of merits, and it upheld and returned Mimiko as the winner.
In the five-hour judgement delivered by Kaka’an, the tribunal said that Akeredolu and ACN failed to establish before the court that the conduct of the election was not in line with the electoral acts and that the petitioners must to provide before the court, convincing evidence.Kaka’an read that Akeredolu’s allegations of non- compliance of the election with the electoral law, multiple voting, violence and disenfranchisement of voters were not proved before the court, saying the petitionerfailed to produce witnesses who are on ground to establish the truth.
He said, “That the election was not in compliancewith the electoral laws must be proved beyond reasonable doubt, as the allegation is highly regarded as a criminal offence”. The tribunal also threw out the allegation of the two parties on the injection of the voters register with over 100,000 illegal voters, adding that the matter should be treated as pre- election matter.
The tribunal further pointed out that there were evidences before the court that INEC displayed and presented to all the political parties in the race, the list of voters registered by the commission, a month before the election. Kaka’an said that the parties knew about the injection before the election and would have headed to court to seek injunction on the matter, rather than keeping quiet.

Politics / Re: FG To Commission Ten Power Plants This Year by bodmasfem(m): 11:50am On Mar 29, 2013
thelastPope:

Lagos is a perculiar case for 2 major reasons.

1. Because of the population of Lagos, the amount of power supplied is grossly inadequate as compared to other states. That is why states like Edo, Osun, Imo, have far better power supply. Because of this, there is rationing in most parts of Lagos while some parts are given more priority than others. In Agbara for example, power is almost 24 hours because it is an industrial area.

2. Second problem with Lagos is that the rapid population growth meant that the demands have far outgrown the infrastruture on the ground. Transformers that were meant to serve 20 to 30 houses are now serving 150 houses. Feeder lines that were meant to serve a 3 mile radius are now serving 25 miles. Trasmission stations meant to serve a small LGA now serves like 2 LGAs ten times the size of the initial projection. So even after many of these power plants are commissioned and more power is supplied to Lagos, new infrastructure will have to be built by the new owners. The good news is that many of these new infrastucture are already being built. Examples are the 3 new transmission stations recently commissioned. So there is great hope for the future.

plz, stop ur deceit, power supply is worst in Imo!

Many of u cannot think that the party cannot do anything if they have not registered. For them to register, they must do their convention so that INEC will believe that they are in agreement...these they have not done. Besides,no party has started displaying their candidates now and it is too early for them to reveal it now cause its dangerous for them to do that now!
