I want to say thank you to all those that have given their own input to this issue.I want to confirm if it is possible to diagnose a 1994 car model.

Also, can a weak battery cause jerking and stalling of a car, because I am even planning to buy a new battery

Thanks Oga Gazzuzz, Readonee, Mojibola

Please help me answer as soon as possible

did you do an engine
swap, like changing the engine

No engine swap was done. I am just wondering what could be wrong. I did not know the car can be scanned, I would have scanned it before now. I was seriously thinking it was the fuel pump, so when the rewire(technician) came and said it was the fuel pump, we just bought a new one, only for the car to continue malfunctioning. If we start it now, it will start normally, and it will continue idling for like 2mins and after, it starts behaving as if fuel is not getting to the engine and then shuts off. Please good and experienced people of nairaland help o as even the technician is confused now.The new fuel pump is working perfectly because he checked it.
Car Talk / Rover 620sli (honda Engine) Rpm by boldan: 12:06pm On Aug 31, 2015
Good day all,

My car a Rover 620SLI 1994 model (Honda engine) manual transmission has been giving problems for quite some time now.

The problem is the rpm flunctuates(surges) up and down so fast even when idling that sometimes the car shuts off on its own.

Anytime it is on motion and it does this, the car will start jerking seriously, and after sometime, it Will pick up and move again.

Things Done Already
1.Fuel filter and pump changed
2.Air fliter blown
3.Carburator cleaner used to clean a place where they write PGM-FI
4.Spark plug cleaned but not changed

Please, pardon me if the correct terms are not used, I need advise, please don't tell me the car is old, I know that already. I need help sincerely.

Lastly, is it possible to scan that car model

Thanks
Career / Re: What Does The Future Hold For Metallurgy And Materials Engineering Students??? by boldan: 11:04am On Aug 14, 2015
E ma puro fun ara yin, Met and Mat more important than Mech Engr. I am hearing that for the first time. Anyway OP not to discourage you, it is not by the course of study but by the grace of God. However, when it comes to Engineering, there are only four of them(Civil,Chemical,Electrical,Mechanical). All other engineering courses are offshoot of these. The Met and Mat you are talking about is an offshoot of mechanical, chemical). All engineering courses are good if you know why you are studying it.

Hello nairalanders, I don't really see why the descimination is so much, I work in a financial institution as an HND holder,a contract staff but each time a BSC holder is been employed as a full staff,d HND holders(the so called contract staff) are ones to train the newly employed BSC holder.so what is the justification? There are lots of BSC holders that can not even withstand some HND holders when it comes to performance and skill application. God help us.

Sorry Bros, if you have the opportunity, please go back to school(university) even if it is open university. The truth is you should not be contented and happy with training others employed as full staff and you remain a contract staff. I am telling you this from my heart as I am a product of both poly and uni. Immediately you finish training those newly employed BSc, they become your oga. I know you really don't want that to continue

ADMITTION REQUIREMENTS: BSC=5 CREDIT PLUS 4 JAMB SUBJECTS AND HND=4 CREDIT PLUS 3 JAMB SUBJECTS, WHY THE NOISE? I HAVE BOTH AND I KNOW WHAT AM SAYING. I EVEN HAVE CITY ANG GUILDS LEVEL 4 WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO HND. GUY GO TO SCHOOL AND STOP SCREAMING. LAW AND MEDICAL GRADUATE STARTS AT LEVEL 10 WHILE OTHERS START AT LEVEL 8. WHY ARE WE NOT KILLING OURSELVES. ENUFF OF DIS CERTIFICATE COMPARISM AS THEY DIDNT START TODAY, THEY WERE THERE BEFORE YOU STARTED SCHOOL.
EACH TIME YOU COME UP WITH ISSUES LIKE THIS, YOU END UP RIDDICULING THE HND GRADUATES. WE KNEW OUR FAITH BEFORE AND DURING SCHOOL. THEY WERE NEVER EQUALS THATS WHY YOU NEED HND TO DO A YEAR 3 DIRECT ENTRY PROGRAMME IN A UNIVERSITY PLUS YOUR MANDATORY BASIC O'LEVEL

Your comment is a little bit harsh, but very true

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Degrees Vs Experience, Which Helps You Get A Job Faster? by boldan: 1:48pm On Jun 19, 2015
After going through some of the posts here, I cannot help but laugh. How on earth can someone say experience is more important. Experience will be more important if you want a job like mechanic, shoe making, plumbing etc. However, if you want to get a very good job, there is no way you can have it without having a degree. Who will even invite you for an interview in the first place?. This is not to say experience is not important, but it is your degree first of all. THE TRUTH IS TOYOTA FOR EXAMPLE WILL NOT EMPLOY THE VERY BEST ROADSIDE TOYOTA MECHANICS NOT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THE JOB BUT BECAUSE THERE IS NO DEGREE. Even if they get employed, they get to stay at the junior level, whereas a degree holder comes in at a supervisory level. No one is disputing the fact that experience is important, but without a degree, your experience will not take you far, you will always be at the mercy of degree holders.

That man must have been an overzealous person or that they are not telling us the full story. From the little I know, I do not think a P.S can do a thing of such magnitude without the knowledge of the minister of foreign affairs. I just hope that man is not punished unjustly, because being a P.S is not a small joke. That is a career position( even though you still have to be part of the ruling govt) but being a P.S is quite diferent from being a minister. In getting to that position, he probably would have spent not less than 25 years in the civil service.

U'd better wake up,MECH. Is never an option, automation is taking over!with the advent Of mechatronics engr'g,U guys are gradually becoming a waste!
As regards Employment opportunities,Chem. Engr still stands at the fore-front in Engineering!Engineering firms can't just do without process Design!nw Chem engr. Hold this!

Go and write it down Mechanical Engr will never be a waste. If you know the options in mech, you will know that the course is just starting. Consider some of the Automobiles you see, power plant, machineries used in various industries.Even machines used in chemical industies are designed by mech engrs. Write it down, the basic engineering background(Civil,Elect,Mech) will never waste away. And note I did not say Chem Engr is not a good course. What I am saying is go to any oil company in nigeria today, you still get to see more mechanical and electrical engineers than chemical/petroleum engrs.

-I salute all Nigerians that went out to vote for change(you are all winners)
-This is a victory for Nigeria and Nigerians
-This is a victory for GMB/PYO
-This is victory for Amaechi's doggedness (I salute that man)
-This is a victory for Oshiomole and okorocha for sticking out their necks where others want to flow along with the multitude
-This is a victory for Goodluck Jonathan for conceeding defeat as a statesman
-Lastly, This is a very sweet victory for Prof Attahiru Jega for his integrity(that man stands out as my man of the year.
We need to celebrate men like this because there are not many of them around.
Politics / Re: Jega's Announcement Of Presidential Election Results 2015: Part 4 by boldan: 2:14pm On Mar 31, 2015
People are getting somethings wrong. Prof Jega never said that election results will not be known before INEC finally do there own announcement. He only said people should not go about declaring winners based on what they see on the social media before INEC's announcement. There is no way sahara reporters and some other media houses will not have exactly what INEC is announcing. This is because INEC REC in all the states announced results before they travelled to Abuja to give the announcements INEC is doing now. Moreover this media houses have their correspondents in almost all polling stations and they stayed till all votes were counted. The truth is it is a contest and there must be a winner and a loser.Let the loser accept and try to work better next time. And also the winner should realize that Nigerians know what they want and if anybody is not performing, the people have the power to vote him out.

Nigeria!
Did the owner of the money not 'appreciate' her? If he didn't, then that's not fair.
For her level, she has received a fair pay raise, double, and a promotion.
The Ugwu lady said it all, she's happy with her company's management, she prefers integrity to riches, but she wouldn't mind if the govt offers her a better job.
Some people would, like some of her colleagues have said, not return the money if in her shoes. But the truth is, not returning the money would be attended with grave consequences, noticed or unnoticed at this time, which ultimately may lead to a greater loss, or even death.

So, I expect even private employers to go after such character and offer her a better job, not just the government: because such quality brings one before Kings and Princes, not before mean men. I think her employer has encouraged her, it is now left for 'other parties', which include you and I, to encourage her. Doing the opposite of what she did is never a good option.

Thank you so much for this your contribution, This brings joy knowing that we still have people in Nigeria who believes that it is possible to win by living in integrity and righteousness. Please keep the fire of living a life of integrity burning. We can change the mindset of people in our own little corners.
