Please i have a strong premonition that i need to change my mechanic.
Reasons:
1) The distance from Dutse/Dawaki to Apo mechanic village is very far.
2) His expertise is ok and his fees are often mutually agreeable but i still want a better and a top notch mechanic. Most times, when he does a job for me. I need to go back once or twice with extra fees and costs. No engine or transmission stress at all. Steering rack and power steering pump stress. Bought a toks power steering pump, worked on my steering rack, they dont leak at all. But i hear a whining noise slightly from the pump when the car is on idle or running. The mechanic said its the rack again after 'bleeding' the pump. The cost of the rack (toks) is N30,000. I am tired of his guess work. Before i bought the new pump, the noise was not there.
please i need a new mechanic. If my car was an I-4 engine, it would have been easier for me to decipher on my own. cos there be more free space under the engine. I go under the car when the need arises.

sea horse DEXRON 3 ATF is the worst ATF in the market.

I changed my gear box on Saturday, a 2006 camry V4. though initially budgeted for 10 pin, was informed that my car had a 13 pin tranny and I paid for and got a 'belgium' one. with the change, I noted that the car jerks between 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 ie 2 jerks as one accelerates to 80km/hr.
following the installation, Yukon brand of ATF was used to fill d gear. took it back to the mechanics and was informed that the jerking will clear with time but I have my reservations. Just spent about 280k with 250k just on the gear box.

appreciate the fact that you guys have answered a lot of guys like me but really need answers so as to sort it out before the ;warranty' expires.

P.S: a colleague of mine said I should take it to a computer guy to reset factory default/ synchronise engine and gear box or smth like that.

What type of ATF is this? I have never heard of this before!!! Your gearbox will soon knock . Better still, Toyota series: ATF Type IV, Toyota WS ATF...

check if oil from the engine is dropping on d oxygen sensor circuit. i.e Bank 1.
