PastorKun: It is those you claim that christians should pay first fruit that should provide the scriptures and let's examine if it's rightly divided and really applicable to new testament christians. The first fruits offering was an offering required by God of the Israelites. Exodus 23:19a: "The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God." Leviticus 23:10: "'Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land that I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest." Proverbs 3:9-10: "Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." |
Christianity Etc › Re: 7 Year Old Girl Brings Warnings From Jesus To Top Nigeria Pastors & Their Wives by bolliejay(m): 12:32pm On Jan 04, 2015 |
lrguru: It is dark. A solitary figure is kneeling. In the shadow a stones throw away one can see three men fast asleep. Footsteps are heard in this Garden called Gethsemane. Muffled by the distance, at first, they became quite noisy as they draw near. In contrast to Eden. It is the betrayer in search of the betrayed. The guilty one(Judas) is looking for the innocent one (JESUS CHRIST). The cry of the trampling crowd of soldiers, temple priests, assorted others and Judas said "Jesus, where are you?" Jesus does not cower or hide. He stands tall. He is guiltless and innocent. HE, too, has been afraid, however. HE is not afraid of what he has done, not afraid of receiving deserved punishment. HE is fearful of his ability to accept the undeserved punishment HE is about to receive. “Father, if it be Thy will, let this cup pass.” Then it happened. Betrayed with a sign of affection, HE is led away to be tried, convicted, and executed.
Do you see what we have here? God became flesh, became vulnerable. In Jesus we are reliving the broken relationship between us and God. We are reminded Adam and his descendants are responsible for the loss of Eden. Jesus is God's way of returning us to Eden. The way back is the way of confession and repentance.
The footsteps Adam heard in the Garden of Eden were his own guilty steps. It was he, who accused himself. God came not to accuse but to offer forgiveness and grace. The footsteps we hear in the Garden of Gethsemane are our own guilty steps. Accusing the "pure One" for making us feel impure is self-accusation projected on to the holy one. We need not cower in fear for he comes to offer grace, to offer a renewed relationship. We think we deserve judgment. We would rather receive punishment than grace. How else do we explain so much self-destructive behavior; alcohol abuse, drugs, cigarettes, the mishandling of relationships? It is only when we see our vengeance delivered against the innocent one do we see the truth about who is angry at whom. Shame and guilt are self accusations and the enemy we have to face is ourselves.
The LORD appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre as he sat at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. He looked up and saw three men standing near him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent entrance to meet them, and bowed down to the ground. He said, “My lord, if I find favor with you, do not pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. Let me bring a little bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Make ready quickly three measures of choice flour, knead it, and make cakes.” Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to the servant, who hastened to prepare it. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree while they ate (notice that GOD came in a man's form)
Exodus 19:18-20 18. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. 19. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. 20. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
GOD is described in the Bible as: 1. GOD Is Spirit God is a spirit being. Jesus described God in this manner. GOD is spirit, and those who worship HIM must worship in spirit and truth ( John 4:24). GOD is not "a spirit" rather HE is "spirit." Spirit is His nature - HE is not a physical being. Because GOD has no physical form Israel was forbidden to make any images of Him. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing Lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love me and keep my commandments" ( Exodus 20:4-6).
2. GOD Is Light The Bible also says that GOD is light. This is the message we have heard from him and announce to you, that GOD is Light, and in HIM there is no darkness at all ( 1 John 1:5). This can refer to the glory and majesty of GOD. Notice the Bible does not say that GOD has light; HE is light. The Bible says that. Which HE will bring about at the proper time - HE who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen ( 1 Timothy 6:15,16).
3. GOD Is Love The Bible says that GOD is love. We have come to know and have believed the love which GOD has for us. GOD is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him ( 1 John 4:16). Love involves other attributes of GOD including grace, kindness, and mercy.
4. GOD Is A Consuming Fire The Bible also describes GOD as a consuming fire. For our GOD is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). Fire is not GOD; GOD is like fire. The analogy of fire refers to the holiness and absolute righteousness of GOD'S nature.

Sports › Desperado Keshi Loses Out On Equatorial Guinea Job!!! by bolliejay(op): 7:30am On Jan 04, 2015 |
As FEGUIFUT is set to appoint Becker as coach Speculations linking out-of-contract Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi with the vacant position of head coach of the Equatorial Guinea national team have been put to rest with plans by that country’s football association to appoint Esteban Becker to replace Andoni Goikoetxea. Equatorial Guinea have opted not to renew coach Goikoetxea’s contract, which expired on 31 December. The country’s football association (FEGUIFUT) claims Goikoetxea breached his contract by not travelling to Portugal with the team on 16 December. As a result Goikoetxea was sacked, a decision sanctioned by new FEGUIFUT president Andres Jorge Mbomio. Following the sack of the former handler, the 2013 Afcon-winning Keshi was widely speculated as his possible replacement. With the latest development from that country, Keshi whose place in Nigeria is still shrouded in uncertainty remains in limbo. Equatorial Guinea have just over two weeks with the team before they kick off the Nations Cup against Congo on 17 January. Argentine Becker, 50, was previously in charge of Equatorial Guinea’s women’s team, who he led to the 2012 Nations Cup title. As well as facing Congo, Becker would lead his new team out against Burkina Faso and Gabon in Group A. Equatorial Guinea stepped in as last-minute replacements for original hosts Morocco, who failed in their plea to the Confederation of African Football to postpone the tournament because of fears over the potential spread of the deadly Ebola virus. As a result Equatorial Guinea were handed Morocco’s place at the finals, despite having been eliminated during qualifying after they were penalised for fielding an ineligible player. I tat keshi once boasted that more than 3countries wanna sign him.......why is he still jobless till now ?? To me he is not a good coach, he won afcon by fluke and playerks determination or wat ya think? |
Romance › 7 Ways To Fall Back In Love With Your Man by bolliejay(op): 7:21am On Jan 04, 2015 |
It's not uncommon for a relationship to reach a plateau where things feel mechanic and almost scheduled. However, don't panic because if you're both willing to put forth the effort it will get better. Here are seven ways to fall back in love with your man. 1. Fun Side Rediscover each other's fun side by doing something that brought you both joy in the past. Whether it be a day of sailing or having a picnic at the beach - tap into your past memories and renact them. 2. Date Night Have a real date night - no kids, no errands and no trip to the local hardware store to pick up supplies for your latest home project. You don't have to spend a lot of money or get fancy but do spend quality time together - just the two of you. 3.Court Each Other Get giddy and leave each other notes and treats. Pretend like you just met all over again. It may seem corny but the element of surprise will keep the two of you engaged and will help spice things up. 4. Take a Leap of Faith Do something that involves a leap of faith - cienma or maybe sailing. Do something together that you've never done before. Having no idea what to expect will force the two of you to lean on each other and will provide an added spark to your relationship. 5.Vacation Discover a new place and be tourists together. A vacation together is the perfect time to get away and just be a couple. No added worries of the children, work or your everyday household lists. Renew your love by spending quality time together and exploring a great new place. 6.Love Letters Get gushy and channel your inner cupid by writing a heartfelt love letter to your man. Let him know why he's so important and why you fell in love with him. Put it all out there and allow yourself to be honest and in love. 7. Intimacy Love your man! Be affectionate! Expressing your love firsthand will let him know that you still find him attractive and want to be with him. Free to add urs |

I wrote a test in 2011 and l remember a graduate of one of the strong uni scoring 5 over 100 while l(poly graduate) scored 74. Education › Re: Nairalander Bags 1st Class From OAU, Wins Highest Number Of Awards. by bolliejay(m): 3:17pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
tunapa2009: It is a great honour to know this nairalander (username witheld) Oladesu Olusola, First class graduate, OAU
Oladesu Olusola, 23, got the highest number of prizes at the 2011/2012 graduation of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. He studied Agricultural Economics and had 4.82 CGPA. He shares his experience with TUNDE AJAJA
You got the highest number of awards in your set during your convocation ceremony. Did you see it coming?
Not really. I knew I would win some prizes because I was the best student in my department but I didn’t know it would be up to 10. I won 10 awards, including the university prize. Interestingly, I didn’t even plan towards a first class when I gained admission into OAU. My goal was just to ‘pass’ since I had been told the school was filled with geniuses. Planning towards a first class was like aiming too high, but I thank God I got more than that.
What were you told about OAU?
I was told stories about how difficult it could be to even be above average, not just to have a first class degree in OAU. However, it helped me lower my expectations and be humble enough to learn. The effect was actually positive but it’s not nice to create an unfounded fear in people. Those that eventually had first class in OAU didn’t fall from the sky.
Now that you are out of school, how much has your class of degree helped in getting you a job?
Though I’m currently doing my NYSC programme in Lagos State, I would say it has been a bit easy to be ‘considered’ for jobs, based on my class of degree, more so that most companies request for at least a Second Class Upper graduate. For now, it has not gone beyond invitation for aptitude tests and interviews, which has not translated into getting a job, but it has been helpful. However, being considered is something, making it through the recruitment process to get the job is a different ballgame. Right now, I’m still a corps member, so I’m optimistic.
You studied an agricultural course that many people shy away from, what informed your choice?
I never heard of Agricultural Economics as a course until I was offered one in 2007. I wanted to study Medicine just like many other students of my age. When I didn’t meet up with the required score in my UME, now UTME, my parents considered other options so I wouldn’t stay at home for a year, so they came up with the course. I took Agriculture and Economics as separate subjects in secondary school and I excelled in them, but that combination seemed weird to me. So, I insisted on studying medicine until a professor in the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management advised me to take the course, which I did. Even when we didn’t have much money, my parents ensured we had quality education and they encouraged us with words. I’m sure they would gladly reward me with material and cash gifts after reading this interview.
Since you never wanted the course, what would you attribute your success to?
I developed interest in the course and did the same thing others did, but in a different way. The way I read was different and I adopted the method that worked for me, just like I wouldn’t go to the library to read because of the comfort, quiet and formal outlook. I wasn’t a genius, but I drove myself to work hard and achieve results. I started my reading the moment the semester began. I would study hard and broaden my understanding of the topic the same day it was taught or at most weekends. I didn’t allow my notes to pile up or wait for test or exam before reading. I also did group discussion with eight of my colleagues, but towards exam or test, we could be as many as 30. That helped me too as the leader of the group.
But some people think agric-related courses are simpler compared to others such as engineering, sciences, etc. How easy was it?
No course was simple in the university I attended. When compared to engineering and other sciences, it is not simpler. Each course has its own complexities and uniqueness, and having that understanding makes it simple for the individual. We had cases of some medical and pharmacy students ‘thrown’ to my department when they could not meet some criteria to continue in medicine, and they still continued the downward slide in my faculty. So, no course is easy. In fact, the course wasn’t that easy. The range of courses offered in my faculty was wide; from pure science courses (theoretical and calculations) to social science and accounting subjects. In addition, many of my departmental courses required applications of concepts taught in class to real life situations.
How was your previous academic performance?
I started quite well in my elementary school and finished as the best throughout the three terms of Primary 5 before I left for Christ the Redeemer’s International Secondary School, Akure, where I finished as the best graduating student for 2006/07 session. I passed my WASSCE and UTME once just that my score in the latter was not up to the benchmark for Medicine that I wanted to study.
How would you rate your performance as a first year student?
My performance in the first semester as a first year student was quite better than what I expected, considering what I had been told about the school, so I just wanted to pass, at least. In the first year, I was close to making a first class, and so I put in more efforts with strategy and I reached a first class CGPA at the end of my first session. I put in my best even though I still had the intention of crossing to Medicine. I later fell in love with Agricultural Economics. It helps when we love the course we are studying. The other thing that helped was that I spoke to my senior colleagues to know what each course or lecturer required so I wouldn’t do things the wrong way. I put my past academic success behind me because the thought of that could hinder me from making progress.
Some people may wonder what this course is all about?
The peculiar aspects of my course include microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, agricultural finance, policy and marketing, farm management and land economics and it’s very applicable in Nigeria. An agricultural economist looks at the economic side of agriculture, either at micro or macro level.
Do you agree with those who claim the aspect of agric extension is no longer active in our agric sector?
Well, I wouldn’t agree with the notion of agric extension being dormant, because while a large percentage that are into farming in Nigeria are small- scale or subsistent farmers, extension officers are trying their best to reach many of them in order to adopt modern farming practices. While there may not be enough extension officers, and some areas are not even accessible to these officers, calling the extension arm dormant may sound too harsh. Entrepreneurship is the new gospel for the average Nigerian youth and I think farming activities are beginning to increase, though at a slow rate, but surely not reducing. I think the future of Agricultural Economics is robust in this country because we are entering into a revolutionary period in the agricultural sector where it needs to be the main stay of the economy once again.
What was your reading style during exam?
During exams, I dropped the idea of cooking (not that I was a good cook at other times though) totally because I believed it would waste my time. Maintaining academic success was big enough as a task because I had to excel in every course so as not to drop. I made sure I moved with like minds. I focused on reading and having group discussions. I didn’t isolate myself from others because of reading so I wouldn’t miss any valuable information that might concern the exam. One should not just work hard, but work smart. I also prayed as if I had not read. That didn’t stop me from attending social gatherings though, especially the religious ones.
]What was your most memorable moment in school?
That was our convocation day. Being called out amidst the thousands of students and parents was wonderful as well as embarrassing. I am always embarrassed by my own success, no matter how little it is. Even the people I didn’t know would just walk up to me and congratulate me. The whole experience was memorable as well as embarrassing.
What are your aspirations?
It entails furthering my education, getting a job and so on. I would love to work in the agriculture arm of an international organisation like World Bank, African Development Bank, IFAD, IMF etc. I also think I will have my own farm someday. I also would like to have the movie scripts I write eventually made into films. But I just take every step day by day, focusing on one at a time.
Does it mean you don’t want to work in the farm?
I look forward to working in a farm that has adopted modern farming practices and operates on a large scale.
What is your advice to students?
I advise students to develop a connection with their course and they should not just work hard but work smart. They should know what works for them personally with respect to reading timetable, venue, etc. They should seek for advice from their senior colleagues to know specific things about their courses and be involved in group discussions. All these would help them. I also wish they would believe in their country and work hard to make it better.

Holy Quran
"We have created for Gehenna many jinn and men: they have hearts, but understand not with them; they have eyes, but perceive not with them; they have ears, but they hear not with them. They are like cattle; nay, rather they are further astray. Those -- they are the heedless". sūrat l-aʿrāf (The Heights) (7:179)

Romance › Re: 10 Top Reasons To Find Love On Nairaland (For Guys) by bolliejay(m): 3:06pm On Jan 02, 2015 |
laplace12: This thread is for guys that are searching for true love
Many of us never thought we would search, we thought we would just pick
So here are the reasons I think Nairaland is the best place to catch that dream sister.
1. Ladies are more accessible here. It doesn't necessarily mean they have to reply your PMs, but you got a chance to interact with different ladies on daily basis. You can decide to take the convo to the next level if you so desire. If you are still a student with many campus chicks around, you probably won't appreciate this.
2. Real personality is revealed here. This is a faceless forum and people don't pretend much here, simply because they are 'faceless'. So you got a chance to see the real person before seeing the 'packaging'
3. It is a game of number and you got the advantage. With Nairaland you are no longer limited to only 3 or 4 single sisters in your church or place of work. You are exposed to a pool of ladies with different varieties to fish from. Even when the old ones are getting stale, newbies are registering everyday and the supply continues
4. It is more economical here. It costs only a few mb and you are already in the market. You don't need to spend money on petrol jumping from place to place just to meet and interact with ladies.
5. you can effectively stalk your crush. Yes, seun has made it so and it shall remain so. Just hit the follow button and you are right behind her whether she feels good about it or not. Well, there is the deactivation button for her
6. You can read her moral compass. If you are looking for virgins, secondary virgins or only interested in women with low mileage, Nairaland can help you. You can visit the link below to understand how this works https://www.nairaland.com/2053645/top-10-female-romancelanders-most
7. You can know her family background from Nairaland. I know you never thought about this but it is a reality. Just take a trip to diary section and read people write their life history online. If the Babe has a diary, your job is half-done. You don't need to send your village elders to enquirer about her background, you can hear from the horses mouth.
8. You can filter the dumb ones. I don't wish to call anyone dumb but if you are allergic to such females Nairaland can help you spot them early before their catfish DP starts playing tricks on your mind. Just visit her profile, click on the previous posts, the hint is there
9. You can save yourself some intellectual embarrassment. Intellectual embarrassment is when a lady sees you as dumb. Bro, if your IQ is not too impressive, Nairaland can help you tell from afar the ladies that are smarter than so you can humbly steer clear. It is not fear, it is caution. Any lady that is smarter than you will surely see you as dumb and you won't like the embarrassment that will follow
10. You can re-incarnate Nairaland gives you the privilege to voluntarily die and come back to life in few minutes. If you started out as an annoying guy and you noticed you are no longer popular among the ladies, you can try this out. All you need to do is deactivate, re-register with a new moniker and start talking like a gentleman. Bro, you will become a fresh hot dude Interesting! |

Hormoniyi: President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday said he did not expect Nigerians to shower praises on him while he is still in office.
He said it was normal that public office holders would only be commended after leaving office by the time his achievements were being compared with others.
Jonathan spoke while granting audience to a delegation from his home state, Bayelsa.
Members of the delegation led by Governor Seriake Dickson were in the Presidential Villa, Abuja to felicitate with him on Christmas and New Year festivities.
The President said notwithstanding the various challenges facing the country, he would do his best to make his people proud.
He said, “I always say that I will not even expect praises now because hardly do people praise serving leaders. It is when you leave, people will begin to know.
“When you leave, people will begin to compare what you have done over the period vis-a-vis what others have done, then they will compare you with whoever takes over.
“Probably that is the time some people will begin to say good about you. But I will do my best to make sure that we do change things.
“We are trying to create enabling environment for our economy to thrive irrespective of the challenges we are having in the petroleum sector and the security challenges we have.
“I will do my best so that by the time I will leave, you will be able to say that when our son was there, he served the country well so that one day, another son of Bayelsa may be given another opportunity to serve Nigerians.”
Jonathan observed that it has become the norm worldwide for people to be lambasting their leaders, especially on the social media.
He regretted that people are using different things that have been created by people’s knowledge for negative purposes.
He cited an example of dynamite, saying the inventor regretted when he realised the destructive purposes people have turned the item to.
The President added, “I assure you that I am here by the grace of God and with the willingness of Nigerians. If Nigerians say I shouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t have been here. We contested election in 2011 and Nigerians voted for us. “I am your own, if I don’t do well, the shame will be on you. If I do well, you will have some kind of pride. I will do my best.

Christianity Etc › Ten Things You Need To Know About Temptations And Overcoming Them by bolliejay(op): 9:38pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
I want to bring forth some truths about temptations and how to handle them. Now, let me say this to you, you will be tempted. It doesn’t matter whether you are brother, sister, choir leader, deacon, pastor, senior pastor, bishop, apostle, pope or whatever title you arrogate to yourself. As long as you are human, you will be tempted.
You can hide your frailties, weaknesses and struggles from the people you are leading and pretend you are perfect (and that is wrong) but you will never be able to pose before your creator to whom all things are known.
Let’s look at the scripture.
Jas 1:13-15 KJV (13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: (14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (15) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Here we go:
1. The word ‘tempt’ is the Greek word ‘peirazō’ and it means to test or entice.
2. Every man will be tempted. Being tempted is not a sin and does not reduce you in anyway; it is falling into temptation that lands you in sin.
3. God does not tempt with evil. You cannot be locked in the arms of a lady you are not married to and then come around to religiously say that it is God that tempted you because you met her in church!
4. Every man has his own lust or passion or point of weakness. To some it is a lady’s bust that weakens them, to some it is her backside, to some ladies, it is a man’s height and so on. To some, it is the alcohol, to some it is smoking. It is important you identify your point of weakness.
5. When you act like you are always a saint and you have no weaknesses, you are setting yourself up for destruction. You can deceive people, but you cannot deceive God. Interestingly, it is not man that will judge you eventually; it is God! No wonder, the scripture says, ‘God is not mocked…’
6. The reason you need to identify your lust is very obvious. Your lust has a ‘womb’ and it is looking for a seed from you.
7. When you refuse to identify your lust and confront it with God’s help and with accountability, you will soon give a seed or sperm to the lust!
8. When your lust is dandled, caressed and embraced by your thoughts and obsessions, a seed is released to it and it gets pregnant!
9. When it brings forth, it gives birth to sin. The deed is done.
10. Sin then brings death. You may not die physically but something dies in you!
Well, you have seen the progression. What lust are you entertaining, hiding and romancing with? What lust is there which you are refusing to confront? Are you are pastor who is hooked to pornography? Are you are leader who condemns what you are habitually entangled with? You see, that you have a lust is the issue; the issue is that you have refused to seek help from God and from those you are spiritually accountable to.
I challenge you to seek help now. You will not work all your life only to be told, “I never knew you!’ Seek help today, stay in the Holy Spirit, for the only way not to fulfill the lust of the flesh is to be led by the Spirit of God. |
Christianity Etc › UK Quizes T.B Joshua For Claiming He Predicted The Missing Indonesia Plane by bolliejay(op): 9:19pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
he UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin has scoffed at Pastor TB Joshua over his claim that he predicted the disappearance of AirAsia’s Indonesia flight QZ8501 months before the incident occurred. The Indonesia airliner flying from Indonesia to Singapore with 162 people on board has gone missing. Flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control at 06:24 local time (23:24 GMT Saturday) over the Java Sea. The plane, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared midway into the flight of more than two hours from the city of Surabaya. No distress call was made. The popular Nigerian Pastor told his congregation on Sunday December 28, that he foresaw the incident before it occurred. “…When I told you people that the Asia country, particularly I mentioned Indonesia; pray, be careful, the nature of the geographical atmosphere there, the weather there; they should capture the weather with prayer.” He added: “I’m seeing a balloon lose control, and the whole people there died”. However, in reaction to the claim, the outspoken diplomat wondered how Joshua could predict the ‘missing jet’ incident but couldn’t forecast the accident that occurred at his church premises some months back. link>>>>>>>>>>> http://www..com/talk/topic,228464.0.html |
