If I may ask you, what is the aim of godfatherism in politics? Is it to ensure that the will of the people prevail as outlined in our laws?
I'm sure you understand the difference between a civil case and a criminal one. In a civil case, you're not directly punished for the acts committed while in criminal case you are. So the offences Fubara were accused of by the impeachment, did the SC declare him guilty and send him to jail for them or they simply nullified the acts?
Again, how did the case get to the supreme court? The courts are free to use whatever language they desire. They could have even called him Abacha the second. The fact is their judgements do not constitute grounds for impeachment because any act of a governor or president brought before the courts is deemed valid until the courts rule otherwise
Fubara's case is even more valid because he did all things in obedience to substiting court orders which are enforceable according to our constitution

Godfatherism exists everywhere with different labels. You can call them donors. The aim of godfatherism is the same as lobbyists and super PACs, which is to influence politicians and policies. Why does Israel have a strong support in the U.S. government? They have powerful lobbyists and donors. Take your emotions out of it, politics is about power. When someone, group or whatever funds your campaign, they expect something in return should you win, and the candidates are usually aware of that. How you navigate it is up to you.

There is a difference between idealism and reality. Democracy in practice is quite different. Donors, lobbyists, PACs, super PACs put politicians into office in the U.S. They are not always successful, but that is not the point. The point is the existence of these things.

Those nullified acts of Fubara by the Supreme Court are sufficient grounds to impeach him. You don't need a crime to impeach a governor. The gross misconduct doesn't have to be a crime. However, when you spend funds without appropriation, is that not a criminal offence? He was complicit in the destruction of the Assembly building to scuttle his impeachment. The federal allocation of Rivers State was suspended because of his illegal spending. Same man withheld the funds of the legislature.

The Supreme Court calling Fubara a despot is significant and an indictment. A despot doesn't belong in a democracy. The court declared that there was no government in Rivers State. That is sufficient gross misconduct to impeach a governor. It speaks to how he was running the government contrary to the constitution.

You don't want to sit at home again? People who have chosen Nnamdi Kanu as their god. Very gullible.

Just like Fubara. When someone is guilty of an offence, they resort to things like this.

You want the constitution to teach you how to walk or sleep? You can't take godfatherism away from politics, but you can pretend if you want. I prefer being realistic. Politics is about power. All over the world, there are several factors involved in its acquisition, both obvious and hidden. You can choose to live in a fantasy land.

On the judgement of the Supreme Court, clearly you lack a basic understanding of our legal system. If you were claiming ownership over a piece of land and the lower courts held in your favour. You got to the Supreme Court and the court decided you are not the owner of the land, what happens? Use the same scenario if you were accused of a crime and found guilty by the Supreme Court.

Fubara was called a despot by the Supreme Court, after being called a tyrant by the Federal High Court. Did you read those judgements? You don't know the definition of a despot? Does a despot belong in a democracy? All the actions he took were declared null and void by the Supreme Court, meaning they were of no consequence having violated the constitution. He was just perpetrating illegalities. Enough indictment for gross misconduct to impeach Fubara.

Are you even aware that Gov Yusuf was a member of APC in 2014, he won APC senatorial ticket of Kano Central but had to step down and give the ticket to Kwankwaso to become Senator in 2015?. So where's the betrayal coming from?

Subservience to the Executive Branch means no checks on its excesses. The ones you claim are subservient to a godfather are performing their functions. There's nothing the Assembly members in Rivers have accused the governor that is not backed up by law. The Supreme Court had indicted the governor in its judgement last year. You guys should learn to separate political attachments from constitutional duties. Separate law from emotion.

The solution to this crisis is the removal of Fubara. Governance in the state is stagnant. This despot believes he can run the state without the legislature. A governor with a penchant for breaking laws deserves to be impeached.
