Impeachment is the solution to a very serious problem. When a governor has decided to rule his state as a despot, it behoves on the legislature to assert the supremacy of the constitution by commencing impeachment. They will always have my support in this process. Fubara and his deputy are recalcitrant and lawless.

The current Chief Judge of Rivers State with the allegation of forgery dangling over his head is an embarrassment and shamelessly corrupt. In saner climes, he would be out of office and under prosecution. The man is a politician masquerading as a judge. By his conducts, he has consistently shown that he believes the judiciary is a department of the Executive Branch. He will end up prolonging this crisis. No governance without legislative inputs and checks.

The judiciary is not yet ready to be independent and taken seriously. In as much as the Chief Judge has chosen to be subservient to the governor and has developed the habit of begging at every public function, he should not interfer with the duties of the legislature. This is the worst administration in Rivers State. Fubara is a mistake.

I have gone through the grounds of impeachment. There is no way the governor escapes any panel without being found liable. The governor and his deputy are clearly guilty of gross misconduct. They can't defend it. That is why they are evading. The Supreme Court had already indicted Fubara as a despot.

The impeachment will proceed and be heard on its merits. If the Chief Judge won't perform his function, the lawmakers will proceed and set up the panel. That is the only option. They must perform their constitutional duty. If they impeach the governor and his deputy, let them go to the Supreme Court.

The federal government has hired a lobbying firm in a $9 million contract to assist in communicating its actions on protecting Christians in Nigeria to the United States government.

According to the lobbying contract document filed with the US Department of Justice, Aster Legal, a law firm in Kaduna state, hired the services of DCI Group on behalf of Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser.

DCI Group is a US-based public affairs and lobbying firm.

The agreement was signed by Oyetunji Olalekan Teslim, the managing partner of Aster Legal, and Justin Peterson, managing member of DCI group, on December 17, 2025.

According to the contract details, the American lobbying firm is expected to “assist the Nigerian government through Aster Legal in communicating its actions to protect Nigerian Christian communities and maintaining U.S support in countering West African jihadist groups and other destabilizing elements”.

It was agreed that the contract would be for six months until June 30, 2026, and would be automatically renewed for another six months.

The contract includes a clause that stipulates that any party in the case can terminate the agreement for any reason without penalty by providing 60 days’ advance written notice of termination to the other party.

On December 12, Nigeria paid the American lobbying firm the sum of $4.5 million as a six-month retainer pre-payment for the contract.

“Client shall pay Consultant a monthly retainer seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($750,000; being full payment of professional fees and expenses covered under this agreement). The monthly payment shall be made in two (2) six-month installments of four million five hundred thousand dollars ($4,500,000) one due (a) upon execution of this Agreement and the other (b) upon expiration of six months from the effective date,” the fee & expenses section of the contract reads.

The federal government hired the American lobbying firm amid the interest of the US government in reports of killings of Christians in Nigeria.

In October, Trump redesignated Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ in response to allegations of a Christian genocide in the country.

The Nigerian government had repeatedly denied the Christian genocide claim and promised to engage with the US government.

In November, US President Donald Trump had threatened to go into Nigeria “guns-a-blazing to wipe out the terrorists killing our cherished Christians”, after some US politicians repeatedly claimed that there was a genocide against Christians in the West African nation.

On Christmas Day, the US launched air strikes against two terrorist enclaves in Bauni forest in Tangaza LGA, Sokoto state.

If a governor has committed gross misconduct against the constitution, what is the remedy? Nothing wrong with impeaching Fubara, considering his recalcitrance. I don't know what people are celebrating. This crisis will never end until Fubara leaves office.

A governor cannot govern a state in a democracy without the legislature. These deviants are trying to reward the governor's lawlessness that was condemned by our courts, all the way to the Supreme Court.

The constitution says the governor will be served, but didn't explicitly state that it must be personal. The Speaker knows how correspondence are sent to the governor. The governor trying to evade will only show how guilty he is.

The essence of service is to bring a person's attention to the existence of a legal action. This impeachment has been widely publicised, so the governor cannot feign ignorance of it.

If the Speaker has effected service and the governor continues to tell lies of nonservice, they will proceed with the process, whether he chooses to defend himself or not.

Fubara is a handpicked civil servant with a useless ego, which makes him unable to appear before the legislators and perform his constitutional functions. Unfortunately for him, the state can't be governed without the legislators.

A notorious ingrate who only wants benefits without responsibilities. It is why he has refused to honour agreements. He prefers this atmosphere of division, but unfortunately for him, progress cannot be made this way.

The only way this crisis ends is with the removal of the despot called Fubara from office. So long as he remains in office, the crisis will continue.

Patience Jonathan didn't make Wike anything. They also didn't sign any agreement. Wike was already a strong and established politician when they met, and she used him as the only strongest person capable of fighting Amaechi. They both benefitted and that transaction was settled. Simply politics.

Fubara likes breaking laws, so he should face his impeachment. It is a constitutional process for handling lawless people like him.
