Those members of the House of Assembly are acting like political jokers. What makes their plan both strange and laughable is the so-called double-barrel impeachment they have long pursued. If the governor and his deputy have committed gross misconduct, why should they not be impeached? Assuming, but not conceding, that the governor had committed an impeachable offense, what did the deputy governor do to warrant impeachment as well, if not to pave the way for an Ikwerre man from Obio/Akpor, the same LGA as Wike, to be acting Governor, and three months later, allegedly pave the way for another Ikwerre man from the same Obio/Akpor to be substantive Governor, so their leader's son will succeed him in the House of Representatives?

It is a pity that while three Ijaw Rivers State House of Assembly sons are being kept away from the sittings of the house, the 13 other Ijaw and Orashi sons and daughters in the house are working hand in glove to sack their son and daughter from their offices as governor and deputy governor.

By the doctrine of separation of powers as contained in the constitution, the court has no business interfering with the impeachment process at this stage. The issue of bad faith raised by the author is emotional and baseless. The grounds of the impeachment are clearly stated. It is only in Nigeria you see this type of judicial abuse. When the head of the Judicial branch in the state is helplessly corrupt, this is what you get.

I was surprised to see that the court order restraining the Chief Judge was dated 16th January 2026. This is because on the day the Assembly commenced this current impeachment, a senior staff member of the Rivers State judiciary was quoted as a source in a news report that there was an existing order barring the Chief Judge. However, the order we saw was given yesterday. The judiciary is playing politics. The so-called Chief Judge of Rivers State has made himself a lawless servant of the governor and is bringing the judiciary to ridicule.

Why can't government owned refineries also work? Nigeria would have been in a better position. This is why countries like China have the death penalty for corruption.
