Nigeria and religion, yet so much corruption. We need people who actually have the love and fear of God in their hearts. Stop spending government money on hypocrisy. The governor should have the fear of God in his heart first. The hypocrisy is too much.

So the gallivanting opportunist called Bitter or Pit Obi cannot resolve this crisis with the leadership skills and knowledge which he wanted to use to solve Nigeria's problems?

Peter Obi is a charlatan feeding on the gullibility of his supporters. He has no commitment to anyone but himself. He will dump the Labour Party in a heartbeat to join the PDP if things go south or he is sure of a presidential ticket there.

Obi is no leader!

Politics / Re: State Electoral Commissions Should Be Scrapped – AGF Fagbemi by BondRiv: 3:51pm On May 27
IfnobeGod20:

This is pure ranting like AGF. The AGF know what to do. The same way he sued the 36 governors, he should pile up an executive bill to the national assembly to tinker on different sections that empowers the governors to control the local government areas. Until the lacuna is removed, even if Fagbemi becomes governor today he will likewise practice the same way these governors are doing.
His state governor has been at he helm of affairs for almost 5 years and he has not conducted local government election till date. He should just try and do the needful than singing like crying bird. For now the law favours the governors. That law that favours them, let it be removed by the national assembly and he should also rally the state assemblies because that is where such bills are always killed.

Anyone with respect for the constitution who assumes office as a governor, will do the right thing. The constitution is clear on elected local government chairmen running the local government. The governors are aware of this but simply choose to engage in this unconstitutional practice because they are power drunk and fantastically corrupt. That is why they interfere in the activities of the state electoral commission.

Has any President of Nigeria ever suspended the conduct of the governorship election in any state and then proceeded to appoint a caretaker governor? Is that what you want? Nigerian governors are one of the major problems of Nigeria. So those of you supporting them should get ready for caretaker governors because that is my advice to the Federal Government.

By the author's name, I doubt if he supports the authentic Speaker Martin Amaewhule and the members of the house. Keep calling on the governor who supports a fake speaker and his two clowns. You guys are just wasting your time.

I have rooted for this ever since.
If State Electoral commissions are scrapped and their functions transfered to INEC ,democracy would be deepened at the grassroots because opposition parties will win some local government unlike the current situation where the power in power clears all the local government.

Government in power. I agree. The system must change.

Who gave them the power to do that,

Most of you do not understand what is constitutional right and provisions.

Keep quiet. Is it not the constitutional provisions the governors are violating that is the cause of all these problems? Will anyone be talking about withholding allocations if the governors were doing the right thing?

The thing enemies of Nigeria like you and your useless governors understand is force, and If I was the president, they would have stopped receiving allocations long ago. They will change by force. Nonsense.

Any state that do not have its elected local government council in due time should not not be given its local government allocation.

The country will never grow if the local government system if destroyed.

People should think.

Yes. FG should withhold their allocations. They will learn the hard way. Nigerian governors are preventing the progress and development of Nigeria.

Just look at Rivers State. The AGF is absolutely right. INEC should conduct all the elections in this country. The worst abusers of power in Nigeria are the useless governors, including the clueless ones like Fubara in Rivers State, who is planning to appoint illegal caretaker chairmen.

STATE GOVERNORS ARE ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLLERS AND DIRECTOR GENERALS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE STATES.

Go back to school. That will put an end to this your repeated display of ignorance. A good secondary school education is enough to cure it.

You are the one that is beginning to look desperate here. Trying so hard to drag Wike into this in your desperate attempt to discredit such a laudable move by the FG. You said SC already ruled against Caretaker Committee, withholding LG funds etc. But all those things are still being done by the Governors. The current FG is trying to correct those anomalies and ensure that development gets to the grassroots as envisaged by the drafters of our constitution. Cure yourself of your obsession with Wike.

That guy's head is empty. Very useless and meaningless post.

I'm very proud of the FG for taking this step.

Nigerian governors are among the major problems of Nigeria. The progress of a nation starts from the grassroot. When the foundation, which is the local government has been destroyed by the useless governors, you can't build and that is where we are.

The Federal Government should withhold the allocations of any state where the governor is tampering with the autonomy of the local governments. Also, in states where caretakers are being used to run the local governments as opposed to elected chairmen as stipulated by the constitution, INEC should not also conduct the governorship election of that state and the President shall appoint a caretaker governor to ensure the conduct of the LGAs elections before INEC conducts a governorship election in that state.
