Citing the need to curb medical tourism, health sector stakeholders have called for a stronger healthcare ecosystem to support the adoption of advanced surgical technologies in Nigeria.
The stakeholders noted that robotic-assisted surgery could improve surgical precision, reduce blood loss, and shorten recovery time for patients undergoing complex procedures.
They, however, stressed that sustaining such technology would require skilled personnel, continuous training, reliable infrastructure, and strong collaboration among healthcare institutions, government, and the private sector.
The stakeholders made the call when the Redeemer’s Health Village unveiled robotic surgery services in partnership with RoboMed Global Inc., USA, to advance healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
The partnership also combines robotic surgery services with a training academy to equip Nigerian professionals with the skills to perform and support advanced procedures.
Redeemer’s Health Village is a faith-based 300-bed multispecialty hospital established by the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
While commending RCCG leadership at the launch, the Minister of State for Health, Dr Iziaq Salako, said the addition of robotic surgery would advance healthcare services being provided by RHV.
“The vision of robotic surgery that is being translated into reality today will no doubt help to save lives and add value to the country,” he said.
According to him, it aligns very strongly with at least two of the four pillars of our health transformation agenda, which are to improve health outcomes and unlock the healthcare value chain.
“It also resonates very strongly with our vision to reverse the dominant direction of medical tourism from outbound to inbound and save the country from scarce foreign exchange,” he said.
Salako said the services introduced by RHV, which include a structured training program for surgeons in the country, would lead to appropriate certification to practice robotic surgery in a safe and controlled manner in Nigeria.
“This is a commendable pathway to update the clinical skills of our surgeons for new medical technology,” he said.
He urged Nigerians, particularly players in the healthcare value chain, to join hands in building “a fully functional health system, anchored on equity, affordability, and able to meet the health needs of any Nigerian at any point in time”.
Also speaking, a former Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, while commending RHV for the giant leap, said robotic-assisted surgery represents another significant milestone in that journey of healthcare innovation.
Represented by the First National Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Joseph Olayemi, Adeboye said that by combining surgeons’ expertise with robotic precision and fear of God, many lives would be saved.
“We believe that knowledge, science and technology, when responsibly and compassionately deployed with the fear of God, are powerful instruments for preserving life and alleviating human suffering,” Olayemi said.

Every Sunday, millions of Christians wake up, dress up, and head to church. For many, it is one of the most important routines of the week.

If Sunday disappeared from the calendar tomorrow, would our relationship with God remain the same?

But perhaps we sometimes focus so much on going to church that we forget the bigger purpose of being the Church.
Was Sunday always the Christian "Sabbath"?
This is where things get interesting.
The biblical Sabbath was the seventh day, and the history of Christian Sunday worship developed gradually rather than through one simple command changing Saturday to Sunday. Historical evidence indicates that early Christians increasingly gathered on Sunday because of its connection with Christ's resurrection, while Sabbath observance continued among some Jewish Christians.
The resurrection itself is described as occurring on the first day of the week.
So when Christians gather on Sunday today, the practice has a long historical and theological story behind it.
But perhaps the more important question is not "Saturday or Sunday?"
It is:
"What are we actually doing with our faith?"
Church Attendance Is Not the Same as Spiritual Growth
Someone can attend church every Sunday and still struggle to forgive.
Someone can know dozens of Bible verses and still treat people badly.
Someone can sit in the front row every week and never help the person sitting outside the church who needs encouragement.
And someone who misses a Sunday because of circumstances isn't automatically less faithful.
Jesus repeatedly challenged the idea that outward religious activity was enough. The Christian life is supposed to influence how we treat people, make decisions, handle money, forgive others, and live when nobody is watching.
That is where Sunday becomes more than a weekly appointment.
Church should change what happens after we leave church.
What If We Started Measuring Church Differently? In summary, we worship God in Spirit but not in TRUTH. The same tongue-speaking, verse quoting "christian" will still get to the office late on Monday and still hide a staff's file more out of envy, even after praying in the morning. |

I was arranging some old books yesterday and found a notebook from about three years ago.
It was full of sermon notes.
As I read through them, I couldn't believe how much God had taught me that I had completely forgotten.
It also made me realise something else.
Over the years, I've written notes in different notebooks, saved Bible verses on my phone, bookmarked sermons on YouTube, sent messages to myself on WhatsApp and even used Google Keep.
Everything is scattered.
I'm beginning to think that taking notes is not really the problem. Keeping them organised is.
So I'm curious...
How do you keep your sermon notes?
- Traditional notebook?
- Bible with handwritten notes?
- Notes app on your phone?
- Voice recordings?
- Dedicated Bible journaling app?
- Or do you simply trust your memory?
Personally, I'm trying to move towards keeping everything in one place because I've realised God often reminds us of things He spoke months or even years ago.
I'd really like to hear what has worked for other Christians. Writing notes during sermon is one thing, keeping them organized is not even an issue. The main goal is to practice what is being preached, and worshipping God in Truth! |

Again, I invite you to exercise reasoning. Check my original comment where I mentioned that the contention is whether or not the school is a private or public school. The decision of the Supreme Court will shed light and hence why I stated what I stated. If the court decides that the school is a public school, then whether you like it or not, student will adorn their hijabs and cover their modesty. If otherwise, the school by implication will find another name not in any way attached to a public university. My question still remain though, for all the shout that you are tolerant and "Muslims are not", how does a piece of clothing over the head adorned by girls affect your life? Vintage men! Always making the rules for the women and never effecting any for themselves. Why not form your school and force your "modesty" down their throat. |

If you are too concern with putting on an "out of uniform" attire, then you find the environment that can accommodate your lifestyle. There are several islamic schools in Ibadan, Nigeria or even Afghanistan that will welcome an adherent, and still ensure the fellow makes it big in life.
