The problem of our universities is that they aren't built to solve local problems. That's why places like Katsina have a maritime university Maritime University in Katsina ? Are you sure |

Politics › Re: Sowore Calls Governor Eno "A Masquerade" Who Should Be Arrested by bong4(m): 12:31am On Dec 04, 2025 |
WorkTheTalk: Sowore, masquerades don't have any business in cities and urban areas. They are supposed to operate in rural areas, but not in cities to harassment and extortion money from people.
The masquerades in Akwa Ibom state use machetes, bow and arrows. Some are known to use other dangerous weapons to snatch properties, motorcycles, and even cars. Many of the masquerades are armed robbers. Many of their activities had caused road accidents and death in the past. I grew up there, and I know that they had long became a menace to the society.
Read: Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has signed an Executive Order banning masquerade displays on streets and major highways across the state.
The move, according to the governor, follows rising incidents of harassment, extortion and public disturbances linked to masquerade activities in several communities.
He directed the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to enforce full compliance.
By my office as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, I am issuing an order that anyone caught will be arrested and prosecuted. They have used it to cause havoc in some local governments.
”As the chief security officer of the State, I am directing the commissioner of police and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute masquerades. Let it stop terrorising people, and let people have peace,” Eno stated.
The governor stressed that while he respects the state’s cultural heritage, no tradition should cause harm or infringe on the rights of citizens.
Source If there was no clear definition of what a "masquerade" is, then there could be a problem in the law court. If the so called offense committed is because the guy covered himself, then he should be able to walk away free, as there are several people who cover themselves walking all over the place, except the guy was caught harrassing people in the public. |

VOsimhen144: Nobody is holding the Muslims not to voice out in Nigeria. If the Muslims are being killed then let them come out and protest against the killing so that the world can also hear them.
Christians are being killed, they voiced out and even presented evidence.
The government also shot themselves on the foot by presenting Muslim-Muslim ticket. Infact, only this M-M ticket alone shows Christians has been and will always be the target. Don't mind them with their weird reasoning. So I took my ward to the hospital for treatment and help, and someone is tell me I shouldn't have done so since my ward isn't the only person that is not feeling fine. I wonder what manner of competitive spirit the Islamic religion gives to its adherent. |

owobokiri: This kind of statement only helps to mormalise infamy. You make it look like at their default mode, a northerner must be violent. I am afraid that is not true. We are all brutish at the base. It is not peculiar to anyone, unless when emboldened by religion and the absence of punishments.
They used to get away with all sorts of violence in the north. Massacres ontop Massacres. It lasted for years. Shariah riots under Obasanjo claimed nearly ten thousands lives! No one was sent to jail for that. Remember when Gideon Akaluka was beheaded at Kano and his skull put on a spike!? No one was arrested nor prosecuted for that. Remember the lady that was stoned to death in Sokoto? No one was arrested over that.
As long as you refuse to punish criminal offenders for their violent crimes, they will not stop. You need to make very rigid laws and make sure that the application is perfect. Send someone to the firing squad for murder and others around him will fall in line... You only underlined what the guy said. |

I only pointed out your flaw to you. Fine! The child did not do her homework over the weekend. Making her kneel might also not stop her from repeating same next time. For first time, I suggest you would have called and talked with her on why she did not do her homework. Then make her sit during break to do it and then give her additional tasks to do at home. You can also introduce a reward system for those who turn in their assignments and also for those who excel. There are several ways to change stubborn children. Capital punishment isn't one of them. |
