So many of edo natives can't speak their dialect but rather speak Yoruba at d expense of their dialect,coupled with d fact that parents don't even bother to teach their dialects to their children

y me: My only problem is writing perfectly in bini
I was never taught how to in sch, and it is indeed a big shame! in primary schools we were never taught how to write or read in bini like few schools at that time
instead we were taught how to read and write in french all thanks to primary school i can still read monday to sunday in french

it is indeed a big shame Nigerians are losing touch with their dialect
if there is one thing I envy the yoruba's for, is the fact majority of them speak and can write in their language (tho they are very loud )

My sister u are so right.I was never taught also in primary school.Like I said in my previous post,our language is becoming extinct.Even the Benins here in America can't even speak Benin and as a result they tend to westernise and mostly like marrying from another tribe or race.Unlike d Yorubas ,they can speak and write their language and even teach their children here in America Yoruba.To make it worse some benins and majority of Esans speak Yoruba fluently at d expense of their language.Some even go as far as changing their names to Yoruba names.Its a big shame.Yorubas mostly marry their own,ibos,d same thing,but benins we tend to marry outside because because we are not really rooted in our traditions and culture

Like kambo said,evaluate what u like about Nigerians ladies and breed your wife to be like that.Have integrity for your wife and marriage

My brother I feel u.I for one cannot marry a woman with tattoo.It shows sign of irresponsibility and even degrades a woman.I will advice u to stand by your principles and open up to her about it with respect.Her reaction should determine your next move and remember it's a live time commitment.

Well Benin people tend to acculturnise so easily.For example an ibo man who grew up in Lagos will definitely speak Yoruba,but can still speak his ibo language. While a Benin person will easily yorubanise and can't even speak d language.What I see these days is that d older generations speak d language while our generation can't speak it

And I feel that alot of we binis are vastly loosing our identity in that alot of us benins can't even speak our dialect.This can be attributed to our parents who are not teaching us d language and also it's bot been taught in schools anymore. Alot of binis are becoming yorubanized.

That's d more reason why it's always preferable that one marries from his or her tribe

@obinoscopy, i completely agree with u.Especially in african were we come from its expected that the man should be older than the woman when going into marriage.It happens rarely when the woman is older and it works out but,keep in mind that women age faster than men and equally the man might lose respect if they have a small quarrel and she will be refering to her age being older.That will make a man feel so bad that he will regret y he married her.DATING,YES,BUT MARRIAGE,NO.

why not go to church,attend singles conference,socialise and above all pray to GOD.Dont give up

My dear u did well in trying to find help,and in my own view u should ask for forgiveness and confess it to both God and man.The only remedy for guilt is confession.We all have our weak point u know and its better to start your foundation of marriage on the truth of God.If u conceal it from him and he later finds out himself its going to be more devastating and will even ruin the relationship.So please hear me out,confess it to him as well and dont be afraid of losing him,if he truly loves u,he will forgive u.I respect d fact that u aleast have a conscience u have done something wrong and willing to change.if he leaves u then so be it ,at least u have done your part before God.Pls take my advice, and your life will never be d same.I DONT MEAN IT IN AN EASY WAY BECAUSE I KNOW ITS DIFFICULT BUT PRAY FOR GOD TO GRANT U THE STRENGTH AND HE WILL HELP U OUT.Goodluck my dear and God bless u.
