Christianity EtcRe: The Seventh Day Adventist Church: What Do You Know About Them? by boobyman: 10:53am On Jan 03, 2018
MsNgo40:
Brother/sister,
It appears as if you have had a bad experience with an Adventist and for that (if that was the case), my apologies to you.
But it's very unfair to paint the denomination with one long broad stroke.
I think you should look at it this way:
Ideally, God would have a couple to be on one accord in certain areas...cause that makes for a peaceful home...without any opposing or destructive forces that need not exist.
Where husband, wife and children agree on certain core issues. Basically being equally-yoked...about the foundational issues.
It is no different than a Pentacostals wanting to marry Pentacostals or Catholics wanting to marry Catholics or Baptists wanting to marry Baptists.
There are some popular churches named here on this website who ideally want their members to marry within their denomination. But I don't think it's about exclusion of other people....
We could look at Religions and look at how majority Muslims would only want to marry a Muslim...or Christian a Christian. I must confess, I love your intelligence
It isn't about "discriminating or frowning on another group of people".
It's about having common ideologies and beliefs. Those beliefs are Biblically-based as well.
However, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has about 50 percent of its members who either:
1). Eat (clean) meat or Don't eat meat at all
2). Wear jewelry and make-up or Don't wear jewelry or make-up
3). Wear pants or Don't wear pants
4). Live in the country or live in the city
5). Some celebrate the holidays and some don't

I could name more...and ideally it would be nice to have the whole denomination be on one accord about things...but human beings always have a CHOICE about things. It can work or it can not work...but people have the choice on what they would like to do.
Many members marry other denominations (and then the spouse converts...or does not convert)....(not sure about the stats on the success rate though). But these situations happen.
Ultimately, it comes down to a personal decision...which the two involved have to deal with.
Have a Happy New Year!
I must confess that I love your response and intelligence

CultureRe: When Will Our Parents Stop Tribalism Will It Ever Stop In Nigeria??? by boobyman: 11:59am On Nov 06, 2016
jopretty:
Most times I blame we the youths, our parents have lived their lives and still want to 'live' ours for us and we dance to their tune all because we don't want to offend them. Question I ask is, what if the man/woman we are meant to marry is from the 'forbidden' tribe, do we still listen to our parents?
My sister u are so right. Let me use myself as an example. Am from Edo state and the woman I want to marry is togolese and Calabar . My parents where against it especially my mother and even when I wanted to marry from my place they still stood against it because it's not what dey want. I admit it was a foolish thing I did for lots of years just because I want to please them and they don't even care about my feelings. Now am holding on tight to this Togolese lady who grew up in Lagos . I simply following my heart not caring what my parents thinks. Am standing on my decision as a man.
CultureFirst Son Marriage by boobyman(op): 11:04am On Jul 30, 2016
Is it always advisable for a first son to marry from his tribe of origin? I still see even to this day that most first sons marry from their tribe and are equally advised by families to do so. What are your views on this?

TRAPQUEEN1:
A lot of Ghanaians think that when they come to America money falls from the tree and it is a dreamland but when they get there they realise that the grass is not always greener on the other side. If you don't have your papers it'll be easier extremely difficult for you and you will then understand exactly what it means to be a hustler lol. But once you have your papers and are here legally then there is a lot of opportunities but don't expect everything to be easy. I suggest you first come and visit and see how the place is like. Maybe if you would like to study here then you could try that but you need money. Some states are more expensive then others etc etc. I always tell peeps that if you are doing well in Ghana, continue. Don't drop everything you have just to come here and Suffer. I am not discouraging you but I am being realistic
. This is so true . The same goes a lot of Nigerians too. They don't understand that life is really though in America and everything doesn't just happen on s platter of gold.
