RomanceRe: Seven Reasons Why You Should Never Get Married - For Guys Only by boofydon: 9:17am On Nov 05, 2014
duerap:
First of all let me state up front that i am a married man with two kids. That been said, now lets get to the point, i did not read the entire passage but going through some of the first points raised by the OP, i must say i absolutely concour with what the writer has to say.

Marriage is over rated! Don't get me wrong, i am not saying marriage is not good. It is good for those who want it (like me) but it is absolutely over rated. Marriage is more of an act of obedience to nature, not the fulfillment of a glorious fantasy as thought by so many. If you must get married, prepare to discipline yourself and adhere to the reality of the circumstances explained by the OP. It is only on this understanding that it is a responsibility that it can survive.

Keep it real and simple. Don't be forced into it. Get fully convinced that you really want to be in it forever, no matter what, because it is a sacrifice not a bed of roses. That way you'll will not only enjoy the ride but will also be at peace with everything - career, your living environment, your earnings (big or just enough) etc.

Finally, marriage is not a must. If you dont want it, it's okay - it does not make you half a man or less of a man. You can be great without a woman in your life. And it is also a fact that without your own children, your name can aslo be immortalised by your greatness or noble deeds.
So, it's up to you to make a choice. Either way, you can stamp your feet on the indelible sand of time with or without marriage.
God bless you for this! I wonder why people dont just get the OP's point. Marriage is more of obedience, conformity to societal values and not our various teenage fantasies. MARRIAGE IS OVERRATED

CareerMy Journey Towards Self Discovery by boofydon(op): 3:26pm On Oct 31, 2014
My dear handsome Joshua,
The indications are very strong that I will start a new phase in my life in the next few days – perhaps tomorrow. Lest I should forget, I feel impelled to write you a few lines to inform you of some of the steps I decided to take that I believe would help transform me from the ordinary “kid on the street” to an achiever; a man that set goals and see it through.
Over the years, I had been overly frail in my firmness of purpose and feeble in my determination to succeed. I made love to indecision, allowed procrastination be my best friend, and as one would expect, I shared my mouka foam with regrets. I felt lonely and in need of guidance most times – maybe, because I lost my father at a very tender age. I thought having a girlfriend could assuage my loneliness. Lol! How mistaken was I - it made it worse. These and other reasons made me set sail towards the island of self-discovery.

In the process of the journey, I read so many meaningless books, watched so many dimwit videos and listened to so many hokum by some so-called motivational speakers. After months of fruitless search, I decided it was a lost course – let me just drink and merry until the ground comes calling. But, out of the blues, I discovered a secret! Ok, it’s no secret so to speak – it’s more of a list of things I decided to start to do. I have begun most of it and already reaping some good harvest. I will list a few below.

Firstly, I had to change my place of worship. You see, in my former church, we killed demons on Sundays, did bible study on how to deal with household witchcraft and principalities on Tuesdays, and killed more demons on Thursdays. And after hearing judgmental sermons from the ministers, I go home feeling I’m not just righteous enough. I guess that made me a bit depressed. In summary, in my new church I learnt that God already loves me, I don’t need to earn is love. Because I have accepted Jesus, I don’t need to feel guilty of my past sins. Jesus is my friend not a “master”.

I also decided to do the following: Cut short the amount of time I spend online; write out my plans for each day as soon as I wake up; concentrate on only a few goals as opposed to trying to be a “jack of all trade”; become less susceptible to procrastination; believe in myself, after all, if I don’t believe in myself, why should anyone believe in me; and most importantly move closer to God, read more of God’s word so no evangelist confuse me again.

Thanks for taking out time to read this letter. I hope to send you a list of my achievements very soon.

Yours truly,

Boofydon

HealthRe: Turning 30 And Feeling Depressed! by boofydon: 1:00pm On Oct 08, 2014
Jarus:
I'm 32.

I felt a little pressure around 26-28 when I wasn't achieving up to what I knew I had the potential to achieve. I was under some pressure - internally and externally and somehow felt depressed. I set a number of targets for myself but wasn't achieving them at set time. It was somehow beginning to affect me.

But I realized I was "running" too fast and probably using "another man's clock as life time guide" (pardon my literal translation of Yoruba to English). I later chilled down and started moving at my pace and preferred looking at people below me rather than people above me.
Thank you! Thank you! I feel greatly motivated by your comment.

I have decided to start moving at my own pace, and to appreciate every little achievement - instead of looking at "only" those above me.

And by d way, am lookin for moni€$, am aint talking abt books albert einstein.
Let's face it, you didn't open this thread to be taught the "Use of English". Nonetheless, your flare of rage not only indicate a lack of maturity, but also, your ignorance of the necessity of impoving your english-writing skills.

Yes and yes. You can land a job with a meagre degree in the "Use of English" - there are too many variables involved in the interview process. But the odds of you securing a decent job can greatly increase: if you decide to work on your English, and view constructive criticism from a logical standpoint.

All the best.

Nice write-up. Permit me to add this; ANYBODY can WISH for riches, and most people do, but only a few know that a definite plan plus a BURNING DESIRE for wealth, are the only dependable means of accumulating wealth
