Good Afternoon,

Apologies for the delay. I'm not sure I'm in the best position to offer an advice since I'm still relatively learning from here as I haven't gone for my interview yet. However I'd like to point the very obvious here.

When asked that question, your responses should have been focused more on your research. I'm sure one of the professors in your school was interested in it, hence the reason you got the funding in the very first place. You should have channelled your answer towards that direction. You worked for it, you should have explained it that way. For ph.D students, it really isn't about your grades. while it might have been an underlining factor but someone surely was interested in your research, hence you got the full funding. I hope you get more people to respond to this, to be able to guide you.

Hi Cletus,

I'm still learning here and not sure if I am best candidate to proffer an answer for you. However, I'd like to point the following.

1. Your I-20 states Personal funds, I think that means self funded (not 100% sure of this but please ask around). If your uncle was funding, it should have been under family funds.

2. Your undergrad degree and your current admission aren't exactly in line. I think you can still pull it off but you must have an extremely strong statement to back up your MPA. It is usually advisable to follow the same line of study else you go for an MBA

3. Your job description also sold you out. It's mostly advised that you have an experience in the field you're apply to/for.

I hope this helps and I pray you get your answers here

DaddyOshea:

I don't really think that was the basis of your refusal. Rather I'll say you could have done better with your response on Why did you choose BGSU? Also, for the VO to also ask about your sponsor, I think she was on to something. I'll suggest you take the cue and package your response when you reapply.

PREPARATORY TRANSCRIPT
University of New Haven
Programme: MBA (Concentration: Global Supply Chain Management)
Funding: $3,564
CoA: $28,461
Attempt: Approved by the grace of God
Single & in mid-30’s

So what changed in your application?
I believe I was not able to provide sufficient reasons enough to convince the VO of my study plans and return

Why did you choose this University?
My criteria for school selection was primarily focused on a curriculum offering a Capstone project which I’ll leverage on to gain an international practical experience. I’ve been in communication with Dr Bleep on his research “The impact of Bullwhip effect on manufacturing supply chain when firms share their MRP”. I strongly wish to work under his tutelage as it will help me address irregular swings in forecasts that expands to large variances, which causes inefficiencies in my current job role. This is essential to my career progression as the knowledge gained will be useful for applications at work. Also, I was awarded a dean’s scholarship.

What are your plans after graduation?
My organization has made a commitment to grant me a study leave once my visa is approved. I will be returning immediately to take on a higher role as a senior corporate strategist, leading all of supply and distribution chains of the Group.

Where do you work and what do you do at your place of work?
I am a Contract and Procurement Specialist. I work with XXXXXX which is one of the subsidiaries of XXXX

1. I optimize purchasing synergies between the company’s entities and establish SLA’s with vendors while monitoring contractual activities
2. I develop distribution plan and forecast quarterly distribution expectations
3. I determine the organizations need by participating in the development of specifications, studying sales, inventory levels & cycles and access supply-side market conditions and
4. Finally, I monitor systems, purchases and policies and create value through strategic sourcing and supply chain and oversee major pricing decision.

Have you Travelled before?
Yes, I recently made a trip (I intentionally made a trip outside the country because the previous VO asked twice)

Which schools did you apply to?
I applied to 6 schools

Why did you choose to study in the US?
I took into cognizance the significant contribution the US has made towards advancement in the supply chain industry. This is a system I would love to learn from as I will be fully equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed in solving challenges associated with the Nigerian supply chain system so as to be able to make ground breaking achievements in the industry.

Why not study in Nigeria?
Without requiring extra months of study leave at work or an extended stay in the US, I have the opportunity to modify my curriculum and take some certification courses in other fields. I won’t have that opportunity here in Nigeria.

Who is your sponsor?
My dad is fully sponsoring me throughout the period of my program. Additionally, I have some saved up funds.

What does he do?
He owns a steel manufacturing company which produces high reinforcement bars used for large construction of concrete structures, roads, bridges and more. He also has a construction company and is invested in real estate properties

How did you find out about this school?
It came highly recommended through an online community and MBA forum called India MBA discussions

What skills you will be learning from this MBA degree?
I’ll be learning management and analytical skills. I will be learning skills like Strategic management, leadership, problem-solving, decision making, and analytical skills to crunch data for solutions.

Why are you going for your studies now?
Nigeria is transforming her business processes from manual to automated processes, and the time is perfect to key into that to develop myself and contribute my quota to national building and development.

How does this fit into your career plans?
I have a wealth of experience in the supply chain industry but my career goal in the senior management position is to focus on supply chain Analytics. This specialization will develop my analytical skills so I can provide advice to Organizations in Nigeria who are involved in the supply and distribution of petroleum products within the downstream sector, while leading with management skills

Tell me about your study plans
My program is for 22months and I will be taking 25unit Core courses in the first year that includes Strategic Management, Managing in a Global Economy, and more. It has been carefully planned for me to understand an organization and it’s business impact in the society. In my second year, I will be focused on electives with 15units and subjects in Supply chain Analytics and Resilience, Business forecasting, Data Visualization and Communication, I’ll learn and apply the right tools for optimization and leverage on big data for decisions. I’ll be concluding with a capstone project which will in-depthly help me learn the mastery of my discipline before graduation, after which, I will be coming to Nigeria using the skills acquired to contribute to the system.

How will this course benefit you?
It will provide me with the skills needed to have a successful career as a supply chain professional as my current portfolio requires me using data to improve processes, efficient supply lines while shortening the supply chain lifecycle. I will be better equipped for my role after this program

What skills you will be learning from this MBA degree?
I’ll be learning management and analytical skills. I will be learning skills like Strategic management, leadership, problem-solving, decision making, and analytical skills to crunch data for solutions.

Now I feel this is exceptionally long and might bore the VO, maybe I'm too uptight about my responses but please I need your help on this
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Boonducks101: 5:22pm On Oct 21, 2021
Thank you so much for your input. I have taken note of the points and will work on it. I sincerely appreciate it

NigPatriot:

Hi, so I wouldn't quote the entirety of your transcript for the sake of brevity. However, don't beat yourself too much, your responses from the first interview weren't appalling, but then I guess the VO was all about travel history - which I can see that you've worked on. When asked what will this course do for you, try as much to emphasize "returning back to your home country" and " a clear progress in your career". Also regarding the travel, don't make it obvious that you traveled just for the sake of "fulfilling travel history", you can associate your travel to your career - this is so you don't appear desperate.
There's still more to work on, but you can work your way up!

cheers!

I think this a more prepared transcript, make it short and precise.

Then the part why you choose the school, Start with “during my search I found out Dr. bleep research interest which aligns with mine” then add other two point you listed.

All the best.

Point taken. Thank you so much.

Good morning everyone,

My sincerest apologies for just responding to those who asked me to submit my transcript and I didn't. Honestly, I was disappointed in myself that I didn't come across this thread at all, before going in for the interview. Reading a few transcripts here, made me feel I didn't deserve or work hard towards preparing for the interview. Just like you asked, I'll post it and then I'm including the new transcripts I'm working on for my next interview.

Please review and put in your input. I won't mind a mock as well. I need all the help I can get.

Please @Fairheart @LagosismyHome @Pefuele @Brown2Green @Nobody @NigPatriot @Textrem @Time2win @Tesla, I am willing to learn. I also welcome anyone willing to help in this regards. Many thanks

Good Morning All,

I was denied at the embassy this week and tried reapplying immediately. All I get is, if you're denied under 2 months, you won't be granted a date. When I checked the next available date, all I get is Jan 21,2022. I am meant to resume school August 24, is there anyway I can beat this thing and reapply for this fall? I would really need your help on this one. Many thanks & regards.
