Please I have a situation... sorry this is a bit lengthy

I bought a car from a friend, he charged me the cost of the road tax included in the total cost of the car, whereas he stopped paying after I picked up the car. Recently, I decided to sell the car as cost of maintenance was getting too high, I have only driven the car for about three months, all this time I kept asking for the V5 and he kept saying he couldn't find it, like he has misplaced it.

Last month I insisted that I needed the V5 as I want to put the car out for sale, and he said he would fill a V6 form and I will get the V5 it in my post within 6 weeks.

Last week, I got back home after work and couldn't find the car so I panicked and called the police thinking it's been stolen, but I was told DVla came to clamp and impound it. I called DVLa explaining that I didn't have the Log book and that it was only recently that the registered keeper was transferred to my name, that I don't even drive the car either as I had bought another car. And the guy explained that it's my responsibility to tax the vehicle but it isn't dvla who clamped it, that it's a tax enforcement agency, so he gave me their number to call.

I called the tax enforcement agency explaining my situation, they said I have to pay £539 pounds and every day it stays with them is an extra £22, and I should also know that there are no guarantees that the car will not be scrapped by Friday this week.

I'm at a loss at what to do because honestly, there was no way I would have Taxed the car without the v5 reference number, moreso, because my friend charged me for the road tax while I was paying for it as he said he wil keep up with the payment, I didn't bother to check if he was paying or not. When I asked him why he stopped paying for the tax, he said because he transferred the registered keeper to my name, and I said it's only recently you did that, he said it didn't matter, as long as it's not Taxed and its parked on govt road as my house doesn'thave a private garage, dvla has the right to clamp it.

Please I need advise on what to do, I don't have that money to give ro those people neither do I want to loose the car.

If you fall in the category of those who paid mortgage deposit as rent payment and you feel hurt about what I said, you need to leave emotions out, take charge and steer your affairs rather than allow situations and circumstances do that for you.

Just cos your emotion is hurt doesn’t mean you can’t decipher a right from a wrong.
And what do you understand by ‘been there, done that’ that I quoted to a reply ?
In simple terms, I was in that situation and how did I navigate, it’s a story for another day

If truths are simply waved aside as opinions, then folks like me would ve been led astray by opinions on this thread. But, you know what! those ‘opinions’ have been helpful.
What gladdens me is that most of those who paid M D as rent agrees with what I said but the bluntness is what they can’t take.

I remember when I first got in here, I attempted to play the race card at a situation which I even shared here. I had to unlearn that nonsense fast else it would have affected my outlook at everything. The OP parked on the road and left a child standing by themself, that should have been enough to understand why the person was speaking to their child. Another cool freebie as previously mentioned is BA Amex Credit Card. Use it for Groceries and Transport, pay back in full without interest and accumulate points. After going through student thread I cannot blame the UK for paid mail at all.... the guideline is 15 working day turn around. Just read some of the comments. Even after 2 days some people are doing paid email and chasing left and right . . ..

No realistic expectation that they should give the visa officer time to process application pr do checks . No consideration that they are not the only applicants ooo. That the visa officer is working on others so there should give some allowance. From the comments you get the sense of once they apply I want answer now now now now... they should put paid email, even double the amount self ...lol .. because even with it, I smh at the chasing so its not even deterring people

If you have not lived in the UK for 5yrs you can still get SIA YES! That was exactly what we were all saying. Erico2k2 said the exact opposite of that. BUT you have to get criminal record from Nigeria. Again that was exactly our point. erico2k2 said it was not the case. When i applied for SIA as a student i was only 2yrs old here, so i have to get criminal record from Nigeria. YES Again. You are right. Erico2k2 said that you can't get the SIA unless you have been in the UK for longer than that. That was why i said that he is right in some things he said. As far as the SIA was concerned, he was wrong

You can get your SIA badge even if you’re under 6 months in the UK.



Criminal record
You need to pass our criminal record checks.

If you live outside the UK, or you have spent 6 continuous months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, you need to provide evidence of overseas criminal record checks.

Airport jobs same thing go your vetting periods are 3 to 5 years which you would have spent in the Ul already
Probation service this one off me, you cannot be a probation officer without having a 1st degree in probation service once again we know how long that takes in the Uni
Met police like UKBA is a reserved job for British citizens .

Justwise, I speak for Glasgow alone. Students with families are getting council houses. Heck, a single lady got 2 bed bedroom within 2 months( a miracle) after applying. I got one too. I know about 5 other families(applied) staying in council houses( housing association apartments), newly built sef.

Get to UK first before you start applying. Google “Glasgow housing association”. Lots of housing association In Glasgow tho’

I’d still alter the job experience title on the CV if I were you. Eg from Logistics Manager to Project Manager. Tailor your CV based on the roles you are applying for as generic CV’s won’t fly. If you are applying for a logistics manager position then by all means, leave the title on your CV as Logistics Manager.

You can search for volunteer project manager roles on google and LinkedIn. Some roles will pop up but also check the sites below.

erm how are they meant to know the Old pound notes? etc$ area easier to get than £ cos BTC in Nigeria convert their £ to $ at the 1st opportunity. You also forget the point I made that you can convert it back to ££ once in the Uk at no commission and might even had gained against the £ at that point.
