I have a good job UK degree coupled with a Masters to back it up from top UK universities as well as I'm from a very comfortable family (financially) but these wouldn't give me any joy than to see my nation progress and that's why I'm involved.

@BOSS and Sky Blue, as a South African I applaud this initiative,There are 160 million of Nigerians and if only 5%can be part of this movement the goverment and those in charge will take note .My advise will be for you guys NDM to be visible to the masses who are mostly not that educated,let members of NDM donate their time to schools by teaching when they are free or go to the hospitals,clinics or communities to help out.In other words do something for free,so that the masses can differentiate you from the current leaders and trust can be build.Nigeria deserve better,power to the people.

Maybe we can look for one primary school to renovate to international standards.Just one school!
Maybe we can try to revamp a dilapidated public library.
Or even start an Economic development Center in rundown neighbourhood- set a target of training/funding say 100 small scale entrepreneurs in 3 months.
Or help a village start an Agricultural revitalization program. Something we can measure its outcome soonest.
Raising funds for such causes is easy. There are formulas that can be applied and all the funding will be available.

And we don't need too much people. Just the twenty something people already signed up is enough.
What will be needed more is will. A will to expend your time, resources and intellect for what looks like a noble cause that we've been invited to embark upon.

Maybe, just maybe if we can succeed in one project, people will just believe and begin to join the cause.

So my suggestion is simple.
Lets use this initial pages to determine what project the few people that would be interested would embark upon.
Lets determine how to go about the project we get to choose. If we succeed, maybe, just maybe people will listen!

There are a million other little projects we can start to embark upon without much finance. The power to change starts small then begins to grow before it consumes and takes over its environment.

This might look stupid and unappealing, but hey. . .i thought you said we wanted to change Nigeria?

By the way, I like your ideas. I feel this is what we could lay down on the table and come Sunday, we'll discuss (as soon as we get the serious ones among us) and lay your idea on the table. No idea is a bad idea remember.

We are aware of the huge mountain we’re trying to climb. We know we are just like eggs trying to break Olumo rock, we know we’re like the Satan trying to get into heaven but what we for sure know is that we have the drive that’ll never fail us. We are not just talking and this is not a virtual campaign. As soon as we are able to get our basics right, we would get out there.

We are not planning coups and neither are we planning the kidnap of a public figure. We want to do more for our dear nation and think about this, if we can only do one thing right, we believe we’ve achieved our goals. Try and join us at least for one of our meetings and there you’ll see our seriousness. We have the tenacity, the drive, the doggedness and I think the more of us, the merrier and in actual fact, the better for the organisation.

Very very true and I'm happy you've at least shown an interest. There are some people I believe are very original and true whom I could beat my chest to trust on Nairaland (though I’ve not met them physically) and fortunately for me you are one of the guys. And this is not me trying to patronise you.

I believe if we have you on board, we’ll get somewhere. We are very much aware of what’s going on. We have been holding some meetings. We’ve been forming and at the same time storming to the point of testing each others’ patience. This is expected and to be candid, we’ve had a conference (though online) and devoted more than 6hours of our time already.

These are nothing new in regular headlines in today’s Nigeria. It has become the norm to see headlines of this sort. In fact, if a thread is made about these, it’ll not generate much debate as we as a nation are used to these headlines. However this is not what we (as Nigerians) want to come across on a regular basis.

It is still quite early into 2009 yet, most times I am sleep. I am very far away from Nigeria, yet all I can think about is my beloved motherland and the hellish habitation it has become! In a little less than 2 years, Nigerians will be celebrating or perhaps mourning the 50th anniversary of our moribund nation’s independence. On that day, like any other day, millions of Nigerian citizens will wake up and be confronted with the stark reality of a failed nation state!

Again, at 49, Nigeria cannot boast of 24hours of constant power supply for the past 48 years? Should we celebrate that our children are not going to school as a result of poverty, and those who managed to go and graduated are roaming around with no reasonable jobs to do? Are we happy that despite the nation’s abundant wealth, more people are dying from road accidents as a result of bad roads than other causes, and over 70% of the population is living below poverty lines? Are we going to be cerebrating that at 49, professionalism, efficiency, competency, proven track records, integrity etc, are always sacrificed on the alter of favouritism and sectional interest in appointments and placements in Nigeria?

We have waited and waited but the messiah is yet to show up. Is it not high time we take these responsibilities into our own hands? Is it not high time we make the people aware that there is no time for a novice?

Fellow Nigerians, we have come to you to seek your humble hands and loyalty in waking up this bride. There is no point trying to pass the buck. We are not waiting for America to come to our rescue because America have been aware of our troubling past already. We are not looking for publicity through the foreign media because we have enough of these. We are not looking for sympathy because that is not what we need. We (as founders) are not looking for public post because that sure would not take care of the main issue at hand.

That is why we have come together as citizens and formed the Nigerian Development Movement (NDM) and that is why we need me and you. This movement is about me and you. This is not a political institute neither are we a democratic revelry vying for a post at some in the Nigerian state.

What we want is justice for me and you. We want the ills of our dear nation to be taken care of. We want the public servant to be able to serve us with heart and might as in the Nigerian anthem. We want justice for the mild who cannot feed themselves as a result of inadequate distribution of wealth. We want our schools to be upgraded to what is fit for a living human being.

Excessive individualism and materialism are the bane of the Nigerian society. Economic woes are being passed on the helpless majority of the citizens who are now seen as the minorities. We need to start now, to save the face of our future generation.

Well, I am currently, well have been for about a year now, working on some projects with a friend, applying our skills to create a final product which we hope to demo, and deploy down in Nigeria this year. I need to focus 100% on this so we meet deadline. Due to the state of things globally, it has been a been in the design stage for a while, but we hope to get others who already showed interest into help push this out soonest. I can not join the movement at this time, but I would not mind working with the group when we have the product to ensure it is applied successfully to the benefit of those who will need and use it.

Alright then. I'll keep you updated on how we get on and also, if you need guys to mobilise your project, I'm always around.

If you think I'mlying about the allegation I mentioned, then I'll let you be becuase I'm no fool. Ill rather get on the gag order bandwagon than try to resort to namecalling. DapoLam knows about the money transfer deals, even his brother knows about the whole fraud and I was there when he had a conversation with this London guy which talked about the whole process of going to Ghana to get some money (with a passport made on that name). So don't think I'm trying to pull a wool over any one's eyes.

All I'm about is that good luck to DapoLam if you feel in your heart that he's doing the right thing. I'm not judgign him based on that past neither do I care if he's been drinking or smoking. It doesn't bother me.
