whatever your choice is, follow it diligently and prepare very well for post ume which will hold whenever the Management fixes a new date. You are lucky to be offered two of the most sought after courses on a platter of gold. You can go places with any of the two with diligence and hardwork
Thanks Bro smiley

You don't see much prospects in Medicine really?.The best medical courses are Dentistry and Medicine."it is at par with medicine"holds a lot,you don't expect people to start breaking it down(google it,you are a student).physiotherapy is a nice course but when it comes to comparism, dentistry is way better.
I know what med and dent entails...
but from what ya'all hv said...
Question now is...
Is there no scenario where Physiotherapy is better than Dentistry
As i hv choosen Physio already cos i hv this feeling that physiotherapy will get better than it is ,in the nearest future.. embarassed
also...am thinking i like physio more.. embarassed
BUT then....,more than anything, i wont like to have any regrets whatsoever, in the nearest future
plus i still hv the opportunity to change to Dentistry if want.

cheers everyone

Antoniosmile:
The decision u make now as regards the course of your choice will go a long way to affect ur life, even though u haven't met any dentist or physiotherapist, you can do well to use your Wikipedia and check who a dentist is and same for physiotherapist. I believe u will get Useful information about who they are and what they do.

I don't want to choose for You, but one is sure better than the other, make research about the two without being biased and follow the one that you think is better, I pray you choose wisely.

BTW physiotherapy is a new course in uniben and I think 300level is the highest class they have.
One very important question here...
The fact that physiotherapy is new in uniben and the highest level is 300lv....
Is that a problem...
OR is it an advantage

anyone knows??

Tboiszwag:
I'm a physiotherapy student in OAU ife,but to be honest dentistry has a slight advantage.its at par with medicine, you can become a surgeon that's why its called dentistry and dental surgery.its on same salary scale with medicine graduates.physiotherapy is cool too,you can easily get a job, since there are very few physiotherapy in the country.the pay is cool too,on par with pharmacy.
The fact that it is at par with medicine...... is that the only real advantage it has over physio??
i'd love to know more...
because i dont really see much prospect in medicine itself, asides being able perform Surgery.

I'm not in the scientific or medical line but my question should help you arrive at an answer

How many Nigerians go to the dentist for tooth problem as opposed to drinking some herbs?
How many Nigerians have accidents, or one bone related injury yearly?

I know some people into traditional bone construction who charge a fair amount for consultation and treatment. Imagine how much their learned brothers will be making.
FINALLY!!!
Someone supports Physiotherapy. cheesy
Nice....Real nice

Thanks for the insightful questions too.

Lol.. .i need to first laugh when I see things like this

I'll advice you to read about both courses very well, how they are being paid both home and abroad, seek advice from people who have studied/studying d courses and then follow ur heart.

Both courses are in uniben, I just pray u don't make a mistake and realize later when u ve landed in the wrong course.

BTW Uniben is starting P.ume tomorrow, how come u are making ur choice just now.. ..oh! Connection people, I almost forgot.
Lol...
The problem is that i dont even know any physiotherapist....I was hoping i would meet one here.
Meanwhile ,i know all about dentistry...though i dont really fancy it.
but then, the angel you know is better than the angel you dont know...
so in general....i jst wanna know the actual prospects of physiotherapy in the country

cheers

Hahaha. I appreciate your pleasant sense of humor. Thanks.
I didn't say pharmacy for the fun of it, if you really want to have interaction with patients, then pharmacy offers you more chances than those two.In the last job evaluation done around 2012 or so by during the Prof Lambo led ministry of health under Ex President Obasanjo regime, the panel to the amazement of all, discovered that about 90% of all patients who visit the hospital take pharmaceutical services and if you are now lucky to have a community pharmacy, you even have a greater opportunity to work with patients and public health.Let me give you an example,if you have head ache now,ask yourself sincerely, will you visit the hospital first or visit a community pharmacy? Now if you have an exam tomorrow and you have a toothache or joint pain, will you visit the dentist first for your toothache or the pharmacy and if it's joint pain, will you look for a physiotherapist? From my findings, admission into Pharmacy is equally more competitive than those two courses and the rigor of the study is more especially if you are not very good in your calculations(Maths and Physics) so the stake is higher for pharmacy and if you can get your longleg into their faculty,it is better.Dentistry and Physiotherapy are very good courses and rewarding especially if you want to practice outside Nigeria
Well... you have a point there.
BUT, like i said earlier...Pharmacy is not an option for me....I dont like the course,...I dont even like the name sef...
so...nothing.

Hahaha. Lucky you,you are definitely one of those highly connected candidates cheesy. Both are good but have less job prospects in Nigeria's healthcare industryand if you were to have a third option,In my opinion,I would rather you go for pharmacy if you have the connection for admission in faculty of pharmacy's Pharm.D program
Lol...
Your Monika says it all..... seems you actually have some business ideas in Pharmacy... cheesy
Well, thing is.... I cant see myself studying pharmacy for any reason whatsoever, because i dont like their job description...as i want to be actively involved in health care and really interact with patients . wink

meanwhile, thanks for ur 2 cents

On that note, i humbly request for your individual advice, the kind of advice you would give ur brother as to which course to choose...

BUT, you should know that btw the two, personally i prefer Physiotherapy.... but then am still confused ,as i dont really know the situation of physiotherapy practice in the country, financially and otherwise.
Pls help,

Nairaland GeneralUNIZIK Screening Application Portal Has Killed Me Ohhhhhhh... by BossBallz(op): 12:50am On Sep 13, 2017
Hello All,

pls, ur individual advises are needed now ,oh good people of Nairaland,

Thing is...
I tried to register for the unizik 2017 screening application online,on my laptop ,on behalf of a friend.
Well,... after making and verifing bank payments...I proceeded with filling the application form...
after filling the form ,painstakingly.... I decided to click on the third step which says ''REPRINT APPLICATION'' embarassed
You should understand that i had to click there because there was no other button click, as regards proceeding with the application.

But lo and behold, they told me ''CONGRATULATIONS FOR SUBMITTING SUCCESSFULLY''....
That i should also click finish....[which i havent done till now] .it also show me the exam date, which is on the 20th.But the problem now is that ,all the information I filled in, in the application, none of them was there again ,after i had ''supposedly'' submitted...even the O'level was not there....

But am still confused as to the fact that, each time i login ...i can still bring out the application form,to fill....But after filling it, i cant see any other button to press...Also, the CONTINUE button there, each time i press it... the portal logs me out immidiately.

Question now is...have i really ''FINALLY SUBMITTED''?
IF NO...How do i submit the form successfully after filling it.?
IF YES...Is it a big problem? ....what can i do about it?
Please i need suggestions from anyone reading this, so that I and other people having the same problem can know what to do..as am panicking a bit now... cheers.

WHERE DOES THE FUTURE LIE?
Every day when I think about it,all I do is cry.Sometimes I wish I could go back to 1967 and stop the war from ever happening but these are wishes.

Nigeria is a verse country filled with tribes that live in distrust of one another. It was this same distrust that made the Hausas plan a "counter_coup" because they felt the igbos organized an igbo coup. And sometimes I wondered why colonel kaduna didn't just kill everybody? Kill all the politicians, why leave the igbos?

These are bygones but my present predicament is the call for a "New Biafra".The reason why igbos are asking to rule themselves is because"igbos are too domineering and they are filled with businessmen who didn't go to school!
How will a literate ask for a new Biafra? We are not over the last war we fought yet we are bargaining for another. Even the founder of biafra is dead"Ojukwu"why cant we leave matters to die?

Do you know the pains those women went through after being beaten and raped? The innocent children who died of hunger? Or do you not know the many people who lost their loved ones? And after everything we weren't independent! And still yet we talking of a "New Biafra "?

"Ojukwu "ran away with his immediate family and he was granted "political asylum"in Ivory coast,he ran away and left us and still we want to fight a new war?

The reason "col.Odumegwu Ojukwu's" anger was col Gowon wasn't the highest placed officer and he was made the head of state.Ojukwu was ambitious!he wanted to control affairs and when he saw the diversity in the country and the new found oil in Port harcourt,he calculated "HIS GAINS" and not our GAINS.Col Gowon was also selfish, he hid under the umbrella of wanting to unify Nigeria but his aim was getting port harcourt where the oil was found! Our leaders were selfish! We were the ones who suffered! Just like the saying "when two elephants fights, the grass suffers".

Please lets not go back to those days of hunger,no clothes, fear, killings, and humiliations.WAR is never the answer,Lets stay together no matter what, because the country is IN recession what are we even going to feed on? The civil war made igbos loose their accounts and place in the country.
As Youths, lets join OUR hands together and say NO to a NEW BIAFRA but YES to ONE GREAT NIGERIA. Lets forget about our tribal differences and trust ourselves,no one can Love our country better than Us,the evils of WAR is outrageous.
I STAND FOR ONE NIGERIAN
PRETTY GINIKA OKORO
#Pls_share
Ojukwu is now sorry for de biafran war..... Hope he is forgiven? grin
