greenhulk: I have been using a galaxy s6 for over a year, great phone, terrible battery. I have to charge it at least 3 times a day. If I have 100% by 7am... By 12 noon it would be down to 20% with power saving on. If u use my iPhone 5s the same way I would still have 50% by noon without power saving on. IPhone 5s has a considerable smaller battery than galaxy s6. If that is not first hand experince enough then what is? If I have 100% battery by 10pm and go to bed, by the time I'm up by 6am I would have like 93%... On my iPhone I wouod still have 100%. This has been the case with the s5, s4 and s3 which I've used. The only Samsung flagship I didn't buy is the s7, but would probably get the note 7.
The area Samsung phones shine is while watching videos, but for Web browsing it consumes more battery than iphones. Its so disappointing that a premium phone like S6 touts such a bad review on battery life. |

On a full charge and going full throttles on Internet and heavy usage the battery cannot last more than two hours. I have used the device for about two years now. Samsung batteries tend to depreciate so fast. That is where Apple is better, simple. No need for any arguments on this one, it's an incontrovertible fact. But when it comes to beautiful display Samsung completely outshines Apple with the AMOLED Screens and solid camera features. But if you need a durable product with good resale value the iPhone is it. I am fed up of Android and will hopefully wait for the iPhone 7, if the iPhone 7 doesn't cut it I will wait for the Apple 10th Anniversary iPhone 8. |

greenhulk: There's no need to argue this. Yes the link is from brg.com but they stated that the test was carried out by phone arena. Oya post me ur own proofs that galaxy s7 edge has a better battery than iPhone 6s plus. I've used different Samsung phones, they suck at standby time. Out of the box iPhone 6s has better battery, don't even near the 6s plus. I think @greenhulk sounds like a very experienced iPhone user. I seem to agree with him. Apple have something for optimization and believe me they do it so well! What kills Samsung Devices is the Android bloatware and their high demand AMOLED DIsplays. That is why I will prefer iPhone to stick to their IPS Displays. No need moving to AMOLED. We don't need it. iOS is sweet!! |

Phonefanatic: I think I can't emphasize more than what has been said there about the iPhone 6s I've used it but sold it 3 days later why? You just have a solid phone you can't tweak to your taste.
Mind you I was coming from Note 5 after selling the iPhone 6s I got Galaxy S7 edge....let me summarize it in one sentence "End of discussion" From freedom of tweaking to custom roms down to dust and water resistance I actually went swimming with it the second day . Then if you ever dive into the world of virtual reality which is an amazing feature you could actually take a tour to your favorite destination, go skydiving or mountain climbing..... This isn't like a movie you watch on the TV it actually feels like you are right there you can interact with object..... Adrenaline rush when someone points a gun at you.
As for battery I took out some bloatwares.... I'm a heavy user if I leave the house by 7am with 100% battery I come back around 6pm with about 60% battery so you can comfortably go the whole day with a full charge.
Camera? It has an edge over iPhone 6s that's understandable cos it was released this year.
You can actually slot in 256GB memory card if you so wish. Dual Sim option if you so wish.
Lastly head to Galaxy s7 edge palace on XDA forums you could yet discover the feats the monster phone could achieve.
My last words. If you are not interested in tweaks, customization and freedom that comes with Android please get IPhone 6s you won't regret it besides the restrictions. on the contrary bros galaxy S7 edge is a joy to behold. The hardest decision anybody can ever make is choosing between the iPhone 6S and Galaxy S7 edge. Honestly these two devices were created to give us headaches Both are superb phones but bros what do u mean by virtual reality on the S7? That S7 na beast sha. The kind specs wey sammy pack inside no be here! I seriously hope Apple will match up the competition with the iPhone 7. But why will you buy an expensive phone like S7 for tweaking? If u want to tweak there are so many cheap Android phones out there for that purpose. And why will u buy iPhone of close to 300k and still jailbreak it? That's insane!!! |

anneki: The oils that you will buy from a Honda dealer in the US are Synthetic Blend. There must be something Honda knows that we don't.
Semi-synthetic oils (also called 'synthetic blends') are blends of mineral oil with no more than 30% synthetic oil designed to have many of the benefits of synthetic oil without matching the cost of pure synthetic oil. Motul introduced the first semi-synthetic motor oil in 1966.
Lubricants that have synthetic base stocks even lower than 30% but with high-performance additive packs consisting of esters can also be considered synthetic lubricants. @OP your car calls for a conventional 5w30. You can use that, a semi-synthetic, or a full synthetic. Its your money. Go to konga. 5w30 is available in Castrol & MileMaster. Now this thread is getting interesting, Anneki speak on! |
Car Talk › Re: Between Mobil 1 Oil And The Regular Oils by Bossmd: 12:52am On Oct 05, 2014 |
9icetoo: The 2az fe or 1mz fe in the toyota camry calls for 5w 30 or 10w 30. 5w 30 is preferred though. it is quite difficult to find dyno oils in this weight ratings here in Nigeria. The popular lube makers still favor the 20w 50 and sae 40 weight ranges. You will agree with me that these are not suitable for the camry. Mobil 1 and total quartz 9000 though expensive and synthetic are closer matches to the spec demanded. Qaurtz 9000 is 5w 40 while Mobil 1 is 0w 40. the interval between changes in synthetic makes up for the initial cost. let me do a small analysis. Mobil XHP is N3,000 and if u go with the every three months rule as propounded by naija mechs, that's 4 changes in a year which is N12,000. Add the cost of labour and filters (N1,000 for labour x 4 changes = N4,000), (N1,500 for filter x 4 changes = N6,000). Total is N22,000. this is for the dyno oil. For Mobil 1; Mobil 1 is N8,000 filter is N1,500, labor is N1,000. For two changes in a year, it will cost you N21,000. u spend less time at the mechs shop, u spend a bit less money and u run ur car on a synthetic oil for peace of mind. Running on synthetic will not burn a hole in ur pocket as u believe. Some people actually use their synthetic oils for a year based on miles covered. The average Nigerian drives about 5,000 miles a year. CityNG, the OP is in Nigeria so i was replying with the Nigerian context in mind. There are very few choice of dyno oils here in Nigeria and adulteration is a big issue as well. I am not saying he must use Mobil 1. It just happens to be that it is popular brand here whose quality can be attested. I have come across Toyota branded dyno oil with the 10w 30 weight but it was still as expensive as the synthetic oils. Same price exactly which made me opt for the synthetic oil. I use Total quartz 9000 by the way. Bros abeg where you see Mobil 1 for 8k? Make I buy 10 gallons |

CityNG: For my cars that specifies dino, I will use nothing but dino, I won't ask on the forum.
For my cars that specifies syn, I will use nothing but syn, I won't ask on the forum.
If say I Was traveling in the Australian Outback and somehow lost all the oil in my crankcase and the only oil I can find is a blend, then I will use a blend but will immediately flush it out at the earliest opportunity and use the proper oil (syn or dino).
Now I only speak for myself, based on my personal experiences from the school of hard knocks and not looking to convince anyone else But car manuals hardly specify Dino or Synthetic, they specify weights. |

I just laugh at folks that buy a cheap car and then go bankrupt servicing it like it's a Diablo. Lol......I must confess, I never knew anything called Synthetic Oil until my present car. My previous cars were all serviced with Conventional Oils, Total and Mobil. Although I'm not justifying the use of such oils, my car never had any issues throughout the period I used such oils. |

jossypajay: He is not wasting money using mobil 1. Mobil 1 is synthectic oil. When you use it, it gives you longer oil change time saving you money at the end of the day I think I agree with CityNG. Use the manufacturer Specified SAE rating for your car either synthetic or synthetic blend. It doesn't have to be Mobil 1. Mobil 1 is quite expensive. |

lomomike: The P2419 codes is caused by a malfunction of VSV valve in your case is having a low voltage. The part at fault is shown below. The VSV valve is still on the EVAP charcoal canister.
Note: this image is only illustrative and might differ from actual part in your car. Thanks so much Lomomike, you are a great guy no doubt. But I will take my time to study all your advice....it is not that easy I must admit. All those steps are quite tasking and I may need some hands especially in the area of raising the car. lomomike: These are reasons why I said you're negligent. New cars are more complex and more sensitive than older cars. Good thing is, most troubleshooting can be easily carried out with two items 1. An OBD ii scanner (5,000 will get you a bluetooth ELM scanner check konga.com) 2. An internet enabled smartphone.
I know you've really been bitten. Now is an avenue to learn the DIY thingy and I can tell you most of us in cartalk aren't in anyway auto engineers. Ikenna351 is a public administrator, I am a town planner but previous experiences and/or curiosity pushed us into the auto repair world.
I think Sultaan and cityNG said now is the best time to fold those sleeves of yours rub some greese and oil on you white shirts and get dirty learning how to handle wrenches and spanners. I agree with them.
Having reconsidered somefactors (being a melancholic person), I've come back to this thread to help in anyway I can. Oya scan that car let's know what other faults are still stored. I got my order for an ELM Scanner delivered by Konga last week. This is what I used to scan the vehicle. Please check the attached image for the displayed codes.

sultaan: If your car CEL is blinking and car stops it is not the charcoal canister or vacuum lines those only give you the recirc codes.
Start fixing the P0301 code first.
Since they changed your engine after the initial no oil drive, did they replace it with the right type that is controlled by that computer?
post a pic of the engine.
Those other codes were caused by the guys that worked on your gas tank, the sender on the fuel pump is not working right either they installed something fake, damaged it or its a used one that was hanging up.
The VSV and other things in the code list you gave are all associated with the same area near the gas tank. get under the car and look near the gas than at where the fuel lines and rubber recirc hoses meet there(charcoal canister black box) isa small sensor there connected to electrical connector it is suppose to open and close in operation. If those mechs didn't reconnect or kink the vacuum lines it will give you those readings .look at it and compare to other camry .
Those things can go bad with bad fuel and overfueling but it was not a problem until you dropped your tank.
Why is it in Nigeria you always replace the fuel pump before even thinking of the filter, 99% of the time the pump is still good just the filter is clogged. The easiest cheapest and scheduled item to be replace is the last thing they will touch fuel pump first then ecu lastly fuel filter( how can blowing air into filter clear things out? Sir we have sorted the P0301 code and it was cleared. |
