1. You are not at all paying any attention. undecided

Israel was a separate nation from the nation of Judah beginning about 3000 years ago - 940BC, after the death of Solomon. Israel, formerly one nation became two different nations. The country of Israel was destroyed by the Assyrians in 720 BC. However, the Assyrians could not destroy the nation of Judah. In 587 BC, Babylon took Judah captive and the country of Judah remained under captivity until when it was finally laid to waste in 70 AD. undecided

2. The Nation that belonged to the Jewish tribes of Israel was known as Judah. It existed from the time the Jewish tribes left the original Nation of Israel in about 940BC until about 70 AD when it was destroyed by the Romans. undecided

The modem state of Israel is a nation established by people who claim to have been descended from the people who formerly inhabited the Nation of Judah. undecided

3. Dispersal of a people --- original Israel and then the Jewish people--- after the destruction of their Nations ofcourse does not mean the people were all destroyed. If you read the Old Law of Moses, beginning in Deuteronomy 28 vs 15, all through to Deuteronomy 30 vs 6, you will find that the God of Israel Himself promised that they would all be eventually scattered to the four corners of the earth as punishment for their disobedience of His Law. lipsrsealed

Israel was destroyed around 720 BC by the Assyrians. It ceased to exist as a nation and its inhabitants fled to different continents back then. Judea, Israel's sister Nation, inhabited by the Jewish tribes of Jacob, is the Nation that got erased around 70Bc with Jews fleeing to different continents. undecided
Yeah, it is true that the Assyrians wiped out the ancient kingdom of Israel in 720 BCE, and many of its people were scattered to other places, it makes no sense to say that "Israel stopped being a nation." The destruction of the kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians did not in any way end their national identity.

In fact, the Jewish people carried on as a distinct group with a shared history, etc. Then around 539 BCE, the Persian Empire took over the Babylonian Empire and the Persian Empire let the Jews go back to Judea and rebuild Jerusalem. This period is known as the Second Temple period, and it lasted until the Romans knocked down the Second Temple in 70 CE. During this time, the Jews kept their distinct identity and culture, and were not just swallowed up by the bigger empires that ruled over them.

Even after the destruction of the Second Temple, the Jewish people carried on as a distinct group with a shared history and identity, eventually leading to the creation of the modern state of Israel in 1948.

The statement that "Israel stopped being a nation" is a huge oversimplification on your end.
All I'm saying is the destruction of the ancient kingdom of Israel did not mean the end of the Jewish people as a nation or culture. Got it?

I can't fathom how anyone reckons this is a sensible thing to do. While Nigeria, especially the north, is in dire straits, their leaders are still hell-bent on building more places of worship rather than finding a way to create more jobs or ease the people's misery.

So can anyone tell me what good these 100 mosques is for?
Borehole they say. Ha ha.
They are more bothered about religion than anything else. No attempt to better themselves. It's a shame, really!

How can anyone cling to religion that you start to lose your common sense. And you lot expect Nigeria to get ahead with this sort of carry-on? Huh.

Foreign Affairs / ICJ Rejects South African Request For Measures To Limit Israeli Action In Rafah by Botragelad: 4:40am On Feb 17
THE HAGUE, Netherlands — The UN’s top court on Friday rejected South Africa’s request to put more legal pressure on Israel to halt a threatened offensive against Hamas in the Gaza city of Rafah, saying it was “bound to comply with existing measures.”

South Africa had requested urgent measures to safeguard Rafah amid Israeli plans for a campaign in the city, Hamas’s last bastion in the enclave.

Pretoria has already filed a complaint against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, alleging that its assault on Gaza amounts to a breach of the Genocide Convention. The court has yet to rule on the underlying issue, but on January 26 it ordered Israel to ensure it took action to protect Palestinian civilians from further harm and to allow in humanitarian aid. It declined to grant South Africa’s central request to order Israel to halt its military campaign.

The ICJ said in a Friday statement that the “perilous situation” in Rafah “demands immediate and effective implementation of the provisional measures indicated by the Court in its Order of 26 January 2024, which are applicable throughout the Gaza Strip, including in Rafah, and does not demand the indication of additional provisional measures.”

The World Court added that Israel “remains bound to fully comply with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and with the said Order, including by ensuring the safety and security of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”

South Africa announced Tuesday that it had lodged an “ urgent request ” with the International Court of Justice to consider whether Israel’s military operations targeting the southern Gaza city of Rafah breach provisional orders the court handed down last month in a case in which Pretoria alleged genocide in the Strip.

On Thursday, Israel urged the court to reject what it called South Africa’s “highly peculiar and improper” request.

Israel says it does all it can to spare civilians and is only targeting Hamas terrorists. It says Hamas’s tactic of embedding in civilian areas makes it difficult to avoid civilian casualties.

Even so, the court last month ordered Israel to do all it can to prevent death and destruction in Gaza, but stopped short of ordering an end to the military offensive that has laid waste to the Palestinian enclave.

On Thursday Israel assailed South Africa’s latest attempt to have the ICJ halt its campaign against Hamas, and accused Pretoria of abusing the Genocide Convention to protect the Islamist terrorist group.

In a short document, Israel described Pretoria’s entire application as “unfounded in fact and law” and “morally repugnant.”

Israel insisted that there had been no change in the situation in Gaza on the ground since the ICJ heard South Africa’s genocide allegations in January, and said that the “unprecedented military offensive in Rafah” of which Pretoria spoke “in fact has not happened.”

Israel described South Africa’s claims of an “unprecedented military operation” in Rafah on February 11 to rescue two Israeli hostages — which Hamas said killed dozens of Palestinians — as an “outrageous distortion,” and asserted that it was Hamas that was demonstrating “contempt for the law” by failing to accede to the ICJ’s call for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages.

Israel also pointed out that South Africa’s request for ICJ intervention, based on supposed concerns of impending genocide, actually cited comments by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “that make clear that any potential military operation is intended to target Hamas battalions in Rafah,” and noted that Netanyahu had himself spoken of the necessity of evacuating civilians from the city.

“This announcement is in line with Israel’s enduring commitment under international humanitarian law to minimize harm to civilians, even as Hamas — in its utter contempt for life and for the law — continues its abhorrent strategy of seeking to maximize such civilian harm through its ongoing attacks against Israeli civilians and through its use of Palestinian civilians and civilian objects as shields in Gaza itself,” Israel insisted forcefully in its submission.

Jerusalem said that South Africa’s use of Netanyahu’s statement that clearly emphasized Hamas was Israel’s target “exposes yet again an intention to abuse the Genocide Convention” and have the court “micro-manage” the conflict, the conduct of which is governed not by the Genocide Convention but by international humanitarian law over which the court has no jurisdiction in this war.

“It is evidence of a renewed and cynical effort by South Africa to use provisional measures as a sword, rather than a shield, and to manipulate the Court to protect South Africa’s longtime ally Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization, from Israel’s inherent right and obligation to defend itself, in accordance with the law, from the terrorist assault it faces and to pursue the release of over 130 hostages,” declared Israel.

Problem is not too many kids, it is not preparing the educational system to train the kids to build the economy

Added population is an advantage. There are many countries who would love to have our fertility rates.

The reason why we think our population is a burden is because most Nigerians do not pay taxes, and most government income does not come from taxes. If the income came from tax, population being large would be a blessing..future tax payers being born, enough tax for the aged pensions and government spending...and more workers to drive the economy.

But because most government spending is in the form of sharing oil money, extra births is an extra burden in essence.

But if attempts are made to increase tax to gdp ratio, that is where we would hear...the poor, we are poor.
Well, let's kick off by tackling the main point here. The idea that more population is good for an economy is not always true. Sure, there are some perks to having a large population, like a bigger potential workforce and a bigger consumer base.

But, there are also drawbacks, let's say more competition for resources and more strain on infrastructure and public services. You should also think about the quality of life for people in the population, and whether the benefits of a large population are distributed fairly. I reckon there are problems with the current tax system and government spending that need to be sorted out in Nigeria.

Even if these problems are sorted out, it's not necessarily true that a large population would automatically lead to a stronger economy. Actually, research has shown that countries with lower population growth rates tend to have higher GDP per capita, and a better standard of living overall.

Remember that larger population puts more stress on natural resources and increases the demand for stuff like food etc.

For your info, there are many complicated factors to consider when looking at the relationship between population and economic growth, and it's not as simple as more population equals more economic growth. Lol

Mate, how can you be in dire poverty and keep having kids you can't look after. Isn't that being daft.

It's more of a vicious circle that keeps the parents and the children in pain and trouble. It's pointless to have more kids than you can care for, as it only makes things worse and harder.
It would be more wise and responsible to have fewer kids, or none at all, until you are ready and able to give them a proper and respectable life.

Tell these people to stop having too many kids. You keep popping out kids you can't look after then you moan about it.

Why wouldn't there be a rise in poverty and crime when the kids lose hope and resort to other ways to survive.

Why not use pepper spray or a rubber bullet? That's what they do in civilised countries like UK.
He whipped out a knife and tried to stab an officer.

You're curious why the Israeli officer didn't use pepper spray or a rubber bullet instead of a deadly bullet. That's what they do in civilised countries like the UK, you say. Well, there are things you should know about the situation in ISRAEL.

First, Israel is facing a constant threat of terrorism and violence from these nutters, especially from Hamas, the Islamist group that controls the Gaza Strip and has been firing rockets and flaming balloons at Israeli towns and cities.
There have also been several stabbing and ramming attacks by lone-wolf attackers, targeting Israeli civilians and security forces.

The force are trained to deal with high-risk situations and hostile environments. They are authorised to use lethal force in self-defence or to prevent a serious threat to life, according to the rules of engagement.

Also, pepper spray and rubber bullets are not always effective or suitable in such situations. Both pepper spray and rubber bullets can also fail to stop a determined attacker, especially if they are on drugs or adrenaline.

The Israeli officer who shot the Palestinian boy did not use pepper spray or a rubber bullet because he probably thought that they would not be enough to stop the imminent threat of a stabbing attack. It's called following the rules of engagement and the training he received, which are based on the reality and the challenges in Israel.
He might have also feared for his life or the lives of his mates, as he faced a knife-wielding assailant who had already tried to stab him. Got it?

That’s the mail I got from the Norwegian embassy concerning what I mentioned earlier
I think the email you got is a confirmation that your application for a residence permit has been received and registered by the UDI.
Your reference number (DUF-number) that you need to use if you want to contact the UDI or the police about your case.

Well, this email does not mean or say that your application has been processed or approved yet. It just means that it has been entered into the system and is waiting to be assigned to a case officer. The processing time for your kind of application depend on the type of permit, the documents you submitted, etc.

If I'm right, you can and should probably check the estimated waiting time for your kind of application on the UDI website. I think it is updated regularly and shows the average time it takes for the UDI to make a decision in similar cases. If your case takes longer than 30 days, the UDI will send you another email to inform you of the status of your case. You get?

Enough with this human shield propaganda. No one believes it anymore. Gone are the days israhell can just lie and brainwash the masses. Most of the bombs that killed those babies are dumb bombs, i.e not targeted, they can land anywhere and kill anyone. The used in killing Hamza Dahdouh, as well as the one they used in killing the Hamas head in Beirut were targeted missiles. They have the means of targeting Hamas without harming innocent civilians, but they choose not to out of sheer wickedness.

Israel is gearing its propaganda as it wants to begin bombing Rafah. Rafah is the last of the so-called "safe areas" Israel would tell Palestinians to go.

Once they go, Israel begins bombing them there.

The same Israel continues to bomb hospitals and family houses in Gaza and West Bank, calling them power targets.

Every baby in the images below was killed when israel bombed their family house or hospital. The last baby is even still holding onto the bread he was eating when Israel bombed his house.
All thanks to Hamas for using them as shields. Hamas invaded Israel so courtesy says they pay for it. Down to the last man. If you aren't comfortable, then cope harder!

You have to hand it to Israel when it comes to intelligence. They've been able to infiltrate Hamas and weaken their power.

Israel carried out some airstrike on Hamas position in rafah even when Egypt said it would cause some tension. Most people were against operation in rafah because of the civilians there. No surprise, it's just another terrorist nest. And look how they rescued these hostages.

This is a lesson to all Israel bashers. Your views and moaning don't matter. Israel will do whatever it takes to defend itself from Invaders. All Hamas members will be wiped out to the last man. Enjoy the show!`
