MaxInDHouse:

Now there was a river flowing out of Eʹden to water the garden, and from there it divided into four rivers. The name of the first is Piʹshon; it is the one encircling the entire land of Havʹi·lah, where there is gold. The gold of that land is good. Bdellium gum and onyx stone are also there. The name of the second river is Giʹhon; it is the one encircling the entire land of Cush. The name of the third river is Hidʹde·kel; it is the one going to the east of As·syrʹi·a. And the fourth river is the Eu·phraʹtes. Genesis 2:10-14

Assyria is located around modern day Turkey that's where the river Euphrates is till today.

But as for the Garden it has been washed away during the flood of Noah's day!
You're having a laugh, aren't you? The garden of Eden is a load of bollocks, and so is the flood of Noah. There's no evidence for either of them, and plenty of evidence against them.

The garden of Eden is just a myth borrowed from the Mesopotamians, who had their own stories about gods and gardens and rivers.
The four rivers mentioned in Genesis don't even match the geography of the real world. The Piʹshon and the Giʹhon are unknown, and the Hidʹde·kel is probably the Tigris, which doesn't go east of Assyria, but south of it. And the Euphrates is nowhere near the other three.

It's a right mess, and you can't take it literally. The flood of Noah is another fairy tale, copied from the Epic of Gilgamesh and other ancient sources. There's no way a global flood could have happened, and no way all the animals could have fit on a boat. It's a myth, and a bad one at that. So don't waste your time looking for the garden of Eden, or the ark of Noah. They never existed, and they never will. They're just stories, not very good ones.

Politics / Breakaway Moldovan Region Asks Russia For 'Protection' by Botragelad: 8:58pm On Feb 28
Pro-Russian rebel officials in Moldova's breakaway region of Transnistria appealed to Russia for "protection" on Wednesday, amid fears the territory could become a new flashpoint in Moscow's conflict with neighboring Ukraine.

The thin sliver of land has been de facto controlled by pro-Russian forces since the collapse of the Soviet Union, but is internationally recognized as part of Moldova.

At a special congress in the region — only the seventh in its history — lawmakers passed a resolution asking Russia's parliament to "protect" Transnistria from mounting Moldovan pressure.

They said the Moldovan government in Chisinau had unleashed an "economic war" against Transnistria, blocking vital imports in the aim of turning it into a "ghetto."

"The decisions of the current congress cannot be ignored by the international community," the breakaway republic's foreign policy chief Vitaly Ignatiev told the meeting.

The resolution comes just a day before President Vladimir Putin was set to make an annual address before Russian lawmakers and as Ukraine suffers setbacks on the battlefield.

The separatist territory last held a congress in 2006, when deputies announced a referendum on integrating with Russia. The vote resulted in an overwhelming majority in favor.

The call for help from Moscow has fueled comparisons with February 2022, when Russian-backed militants in eastern Ukraine called for protection against what they said was relentless attacks and shelling by Kyiv's forces.

Delegates at the conference on Wednesday made little mention of Ukraine, according to accounts of the session in state-run media, instead aiming their ire against Moldova, who they blamed for the territory's economic woes.

A Moldovan government spokesman downplayed concerns ahead of the rare meeting.

"From Chisinau, things look calm... There is no danger of escalation and destabilization of the situation in the Transnistrian region. This is another campaign to create hysteria," they said in a post on Telegram.

Moldova has accused the Kremlin of stoking tensions in Transnistria, a primarily Russian-speaking region that depends heavily on Moscow for support.

Since Moscow began its full-scale assault on Ukraine, Chisinau has been concerned the Kremlin could use Transnistria to open a new front in the southwest, in the direction of Odesa.

The tiny region was rocked by unexplained blasts in 2022 that military analysts believe may have been a Russian attempt to drag the region into the conflict.

Then, in March 2023, Transnistria's pro-Russian leadership accused Kyiv of an assassination attempt on their leader, an accusation that Ukraine rejected.

The Kremlin has around 1,500 soldiers permanently stationed in the region, and has warned Ukraine and Moldova that attacking them would incur serious consequences.

Russia still props up Transnistria's economy with supplies of free gas, but the breakaway republic has found itself increasingly isolated from Moscow since the conflict in Ukraine.

The gathering of Transnistrian officials comes as Ukraine faces intense pressure on the frontlines, where it has recently lost ground to Russia amid mounting ammunition shortages.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Albania on Wednesday for a summit of southeastern European nations, where he was expected to renew his calls for more aid.

Career / Re: My Former Company Refuse To Acknowledge My Pension by Botragelad: 1:11pm On Feb 27
Hmm
You're in a right pickle. You should have handed in your resignation letter when you left the company three years ago. That's like the proper way to quit a job. Now they're giving you grief over your pension remittance.

The problem is for you to have access to the pension, you need to provide proof of your employment and termination to your Pension Fund Administrator (PFA).
Well, If your former employer refuses to acknowledge your letter, you can try to get a court order or an affidavit to confirm your employment status or lodge a complaint with whatever pension commission you have in Nigeria. They might be able to help you sort out this mess.

But honestly, you should have been more careful when you left the company. You can't just leave without giving any notice. You might have burned some bridges with your former boss and colleagues. Matter of fact there's a probability that they will not be willing to help you now. Endeavor to leave people in good terms, you never know when you might need them again, exactly what's happening.

Since Tinubu became president, terrorism activities has been on the increase all over the world. What a bad luck of a president.

Now these ones are blowing off Internet cables. But wait o, can't these companies make everything wireless? Like, send and receive information through satellite. Why the need for cables again?

There's still a need for cables in some cases. Wireless transmission of information can be slower and less reliable than a wired connection. And there's also the issue of security, I mean a wired connection is often more secure than a wireless one.
In the sense that it's much more difficult to intercept.

With a wired connection, the data is transmitted over a physical cable, so it's much harder for someone to tap into that signal without being detected. And even if they do manage to intercept the signal, it's much harder to decrypt the data without the proper equipment.

Unlike wireless signals which are transmitted through the air, so they're much easier to intercept.
Sure, we know wireless transmission is getting better all the time, but it's not quite the be-all and end-all of information transfer just yet. Lol

The only massacre that happened was when Hamas daftly invaded Israel on October 7. Why are you moaning now that Israel is fighting back?

The successful targeting of the four cables, which are believed to belong to the AAE-1, Seacom, EIG, and TGN systems, marks a serious disruption of communications between Europe and Asia.

Four underwater communications cables between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti have been struck out of commission in recent months, presumably as a result of attacks by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, according to an exclusive report in the Israeli news site Globes.

The successful targeting of the four cables, which are believed to belong to the AAE-1, Seacom, EIG, and TGN systems, marks a serious disruption of communications between Europe and Asia.
Most of the immediate harm will be absorbed by the Gulf states and India, Globes said.

The AAE-1 cable connects East Asia to Europe via Egypt, connecting China to the West through countries such as Pakistan and Qatar.

The Europe India Gateway (EIG) cable system connects southern Europe to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, the UAE, and India.

The Seacom cable connects Europe, Africa, and India, and is connected to South Africa.

Houthi attacks continue despite Western responses
Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi movement, which is not the internationally recognized government of the Arab country but which controls its most populous segments, has been attacking international trade for months, proclaiming solidarity with Palestinians as Israel wages war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The United States, United Kingdom, and allies have begun in recent months to take offensive actions against the Houthis in response to attacks, but the missile, helicopter, and underwater drone assaults on merchant ships have continued.

Terrorist condemns Israel's right to defend itself. Lol

Some people are so daft, they put religion before common sense. I've been saying it since this war started. Hamas will be sorry for invading Israel and killing those people.

Most of these journalists are terrorists. The Nigeria minister of information is clueless, or he's talking rubbish because he's got the same religion as them. They're not journalists, they're Hamas mates or helpers who work together. Some of them joined in with Hamas on October 7 and knew all about the invasion, some of them even cheered when Hamas killed Jews.

I don't want to hear anyone speak because these TERRORISTS were happy when they did the invasion. They're getting what they deserve, and like I said, till the last one. No one, not even the whole Arab world or the Islamic countries association or whatever they call themselves(I don't get why Nigeria is in there when it's a secular country(theoretically) can stop ISRAEL.

No one gives a toss about their protests and moans, it won't stop the destruction of Hamas. South Africa must be tired. Victory is guaranteed!

Anyone who messes with Israel will end up dead. Just ask Hamas!

Dont white people also look like Orangutan?
You are missing the whole point of my argument. I am not saying that black people look like monkeys or that white people look like orangutans. I am saying that Rogozin's post was racist because he used a picture of a huge monkey to mock and dehumanize a black man, who is the US defence secretary. He also used a derogatory term for a group of indigenous African people, who he called pygmies. Repeating myself again.

You cannot compare his post to saying that white people look like orangutans, because that is not a common or offensive way of insulting white people.

You are talking rubbish. That is not a personal attack, that is a racial attack. Rogozin posted a racist pic of a black man, he then compared him to a huge monkey, which is a common and offensive way of dehumanizing black people.

He also called the Ukrainian men pygmies, which is a derogatory term for a group of indigenous African people. It's a way of mocking his appearance and ethnicity. Don't you get it?

That's literally the point of this post.

I wonder what the black people make of this, especially those who back Russia and reckon there are any less racist just because they are anti US or didn't manage to colonise Africa.

I can go on. The genocide against Palestinian is another blatant hypocrisy of Western society and anyone who believes them. Foreign Affairs / Mahjoub Mahjoubi: France Deports Tunisian Imam Accused Of Hate Speech. by Botragelad: 7:13pm On Feb 25
French authorities on Thursday deported a Tunisian imam accused of preaching hatred against women and Jews, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced.

Mahjoub Mahjoubi, an imam in the small southern French town of Bagnols-sur-Ceze, was sent back to Tunisia "less than 12 hours after his arrest", Darmanin said in a post on social media.

He added that it was evidence of how a recently voted immigration law "makes France stronger".

The law toughening migration conditions was seen as part of the government's response to the rise of the far-right. It has been strongly opposed by left wing parties.

"Firmness is the rule," said Darmanin, who slammed what he called a "radical imam who made unacceptable comments".

'Violent' image of Islam
The official order for Mahjoubi's expulsion, seen by AFP, said that in sermons in February he had given a "retrograde, intolerant and violent" image of Islam that would encourage behaviour against French values, discrimination against women, "tensions with the Jewish community" and "Jihadist radicalisation".

The imam also referred to Jewish people as "the enemy", according to the order, which said Mahjoubi called for "the destruction of Western society".

The imam's lawyer, Samir Hamroun, said he would appeal the expulsion.

Last year, France expelled a Moroccan imam and an Algerian who had been an official at a mosque that was closed in 2018.

President Emmanuel Macron said in 2020 that he wanted to end the stay in France of about 300 imams sent by other countries. None have been accepted from abroad since January this year.
