Please which material do you make used of ? because am currently using IELTS Liz's online material. I don't know if there's another useful material that u can suggest for me to use..

Seriously I have rated my capability am not too good with writing and speaking..

House I need suggestion on which material I can use to practice. I really want to improve.

Thanks.
Hi Obie, sorry for the belated response.
While preparing for my writing, I consulted both Liz and Jay depending on what I was looking for. I tried to tailor the writing to meet the band descriptors for a 9.
For part 1, I only had to understand the tone for each type of letter and their closing. For instance, not to sound overly formal or too informal in a semi-formal letter.
Part 2. For task achievement, I tried as much as possible to address the question even when I had other interesting but not so relevant things to write about. For each paragraph, I stated an idea/opinion, gave reasons for my opinion and gave an example. I think Jay taught this. I also tried to meet my word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: I gave each distinct idea a separate paragraph. Within each paragraph, I let my ideas (not sentences) dove-tail for the reader to better understand. I also made a robust use of connectors to connect my sentences.
Lexical Resource: I used compound sentences every chance I got and I learnt on ieltsliz how to punctuate them appropriately. Making compound sentences without proper punctuations may do more harm than good. I also tried to employ the language of the trade I was writing about. For instance, I could use the word “battalion” instead of “a group of soldiers “, “carbon emissions” instead of “releasing carbon into the atmosphere “ etc.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: I used a couple of idiomatic expressions but only where they fit. I also tried to use more exotic than simple words, but I made sure not to sacrifice spelling on the alter of grandiloquence.

I can’t really discuss my speaking because I kept stuttering and speaking off the topic.

You will excel though.

Hi All,

I am new on this forum but have been silently reading from the first page. I am applying via CEC inland stream,

I am a bit confused on how to answer this question " have you ever been married or been in a common law relationship?"
Background-
I came to Canada as a student. I was married traditionally under customary law in my country. I was never married legally in the registry or in the church. No change of name. No marriage certificate to present. As at the time I was applying for my study permit, I mentioned being traditionally married. Under customary law, a dowry or bride price is paid. In 2015, the bride price was returned to my ex. Under the law, once its returned, the relationship is dissolved. There is no divorce certificate to be issued just a letter and affidavit from my father to the man's father acknowledging return of bride price and dissolution of the customary marriage.
Since I came to Canada I have been applying as single.
I am now applying for my PR under a single status.

My confusion-
Should I answer yes to this question " have you ever been married or been in a common law relationship?" and then in the LOE explain that it was a traditional marriage including the dissolution letter from my dad?

Should I answer No and also explain in the LOE that I was traditionally married but chose to answer NO because there is no marriage certificate or even a divorce certificate but also include the dissolution letter from my dad. The traditional marriage was never registered in a customary court or anywhere.
If you had not previously represented to them that you were once married, I would have suggested that you go with ”single” to avoid long explanations.
As it is, I think the two arms of the question should be read disjunctively in which case you should answer yes to being married before. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you were married under common law. You can always put in an LOE to explain that it was under native law and custom which neither grants a marriage certificate nor a divorce certificate.

Hi, everyone. Please,I need help. My Wes verification was sent to Wes by the UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN over a month ago. My status still reads "on hold"/waiting to receive two documents from institution. I got worried and mailed Wes. I got the response attached below. Please, does this mean Wes has received and is working on my verified documents? Please,I need a quick response and advice. Thanks
I would read that to mean they are still awaiting verification from your school. If you can afford to give them a phone call to supply the details of the sent verification, do so. Otherwise, you can shoot them another email providing them with the date (and every necessary detail) that the verification was sent. I would also request an expedited resolution of the issue considering the length of time that has already lapsed.
Good luck!

Were they kind to share their GCMS notes with you to see that the final assessment by the VO was with a Masters degree.
Let's dont lead others falsely. I took the risk because i knew either way, i was above the cut off for that ITA.
I agree with you. A few pages back, someone explained how CIC treated her spouse’s WES evaluated LLB and BL as “two or more certificates” instead of the “professional degree” they keyed into their application, with the effect of a reduced CRS score. However, this issue has severally been overflogged and some people would rather learn from personal experiences than witnessed circumstances.

Hey Counsel, I’m also interested in whatever responses you’ll get here, lol.

Anyways, you should get a paid articling position (which in itself seems to be a sine qua non for bar admission) with a law office or the legal department of an agency. There’s a catch here though: you have to be in the actual process of getting “barred” before you can land an articling position.

Ontario may be your best option because of the high number of law offices there as compared to other provinces.

These are my personal opinion and they are subject to any superior, overriding knowledge!

Good day my people,
I just received a mail from WES that photocopies of my documents have been sent to my school for verification but they didnt specify if it was sent by email or hard copies. How can i know this so that I can follow up with my school. Thank you
Both. WES usually sends an email to your school and then mail out the hard copies too. You may want to find out from Wes the exact date that the email was sent, so you can effectively follow up with your school.

I advise you thread with caution. You may want to make more extensive research before you proceed in order not to get into trouble.

Hello fams, please I have a question. I'm expecting 3.5m from someone which I would use as my PoF. My company has a Corporate Account, and I have a good rapport with the CEO and also, the Accountant. So what if I tell the person to pay the 3.5m into that account, and they in turn pay into my account? Then, in the letter they would issue me for work experience, they would say I requested my salary (after tax) be kept for me till I am ready to immigrate? Then, I'll also add a LoE to support the fact. That should be straightforward, and save me the stress of having to do a Gift of Deed, or should I just have the person send to me directly and have a Gift of Deed done?

Biko help me out angry angry
Lol @ Gift of Deed wink
