Pls I need clarification. I am in the process of renewing my expired international passport with change of name as am currently married. The issue is I did it bearing onyedikachukwu but all my docs bear onyedikachi. Was asked to get affidavit of one and same person. I was told only surname will change so omyedikachukwu will remain in the passport. My question is will canada issue pr with the name in the international passport or the name I supply while creating my ee profile. Thank you

The name on your EE profile should always tally with the name on your passport document.

Agreed homosexuality is a crime in Nigeria however it has nothing to do with values. With the unprintable things associated with Nigeria what two consenting adults do with themselves will do little or nothing to push the needle on our decayed values in Nigeria.

The law is there to protect societal values as well. So they are not necessarily mutually exclusive

Everyday l read about canada and l found interesting thing that make it compulsory that l just have to relocate to canada ,I heard that marijuana in now legalized in Canada ..it a great joy that you live in a country like canada and you can walk into a shop and buy your weed without police Harassment.
My question is 5 years ago on completion of my master degree in london while on a visit to usa for 2 weeks ,i was arrested on the streeet after a party and police found very very small amount of weed in my pocket and i was detain and the judge sentence me to jail for 3 days .and last time my brother order my usa police record it shows marijunana conviction on my fbl record. Will this conviction be a problem for me to migrate to canada via fsw..i need your candy advice and suggestion.

If you were arrested by the local or state sheriffs, and convicted by the state court, the information may not reflect on your FBI report. My FBI report states that the fingerprint does not reveal a previous arrest by the FBI, but that it does not preclude possible criminal history at the state level.

I doubt that you were arrested by federal agents, in which case your records may not have made it to the federal level.

The above notwithstanding, the surest way of knowing if your FBI report will reflect the conviction is to actually order the said report.

Modified: You mentioned your brother ordered a police report, and then the conviction appears on your fbi report...There’s a little inconsistency there. If it already appears on your FBI report (not state police report) then...I leave it to the elders

Update

So we (I and my spouse) did our biometrics today at VFS Abuja. The people there are cool, professional and nice. The entire time from when we walked in to when we exited the place was 40 mins.

We even had enough time to see a movie at the Silverbird cinemas on the 6th floor (Merry Men: an overhyped and star-studded Nollywood movie which ended up being uninteresting with storyline lost in the action......lol).

Our biometrics was updated immediately to 'Completed'.

We did all these and still got to the airport in time for our return journey same day. We dey house now.

Thank God for His mercies.

transcript from imsu is 40k , my elder sister paid $275 Canadian dollars for the verification with her debit card over there in Canada. Paid for my transcript 5th Sept thou they are yet to email it to ices but promised to do so next week.

My sister paid N30,500 for my Imsu transcript at the Zenith bank inside the school . I did not pay for the verification, they verified it without charge. My sister only said “thank you “ with some dash.
I don’t understand why you guys have to spend so much money on this. For me, every dime counts in this journey.

PS: Transcript request and verification were between April and June of 2018. Perhaps things have changed in the last couple of months.

@Dulles25 that’s right. Just evaluate your LLB with IQAS and you are good! You don’t need your law school transcript or bar license if you choose IQAS.

You may need your law school/call to bar credentials when you are ready to practice in Canada.

Hi dear, since you accessed your credential with IQAS, I want to believe that you accessed only your LLB. If that is the case, then the date on your ll.b certificate is what you should put as the date you “became qualified to practice this profession”. I’m sure the date on your LL.B necessarily precedes the date you started working at your PPA.

Notwithstanding that in real sense, date of call to bar is the actual date you qualified as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, bear in mind that in this Canny waka, the day you got qualified to practice your profession is the date on your Degree certificate, in this case your LLB.

Must your business name bear the same as the one on the CAC cert? Example, I registered my business name using 'soso multibiz' cos I was am planning to venture into many things. But right now I'm focused on one and that's what I plan to use as my NOC. The business I'm doing now bears 'soso builders'. Will it raise any issues?

My opinion:
You mustn’t necessarily do business in the name you registered the company.
If you can show that the name of your company is “soso multibiz”, Doing Business As “soso builders” that should suffice.
It is common for companies to do business in names other than their registered names.

I don't think that would be an issue. Mine was quite similar and VO's review came out clean.
I would suggest you do whatever will make you sleep without worrying about VO and don't forget to add enough evidence to the reference letters.

Hey guys, so I want to submit my application this weekend but there’s something giving me a little concern.

I’ve got 2 references from 2 employers, but because I gave them the format for the letters, both letters now look alike. They are not identical (of course that’s impossible) but it’s basically similar.

It’s funny to me because if I were a VO, I would probably wonder why two employers in 2 different countries will write in similar style for the same person.

Should I be worried?
