Few points about my application

POF
100percent gift deed from my father
Attached the notorised gift deed, bank reference letter (not in CIC format), statement of account for the day the gift sum was transferred to me and highlighted same and also added the transfer teller

Work reference
For the two jobs I have done which I used to claim 3years work experience I was paid in cash for both. So I just got the reference letter in CIC form and indicated I was paid in cash beside the salary.

IELTS
I can't overemphasize the essence of practice. Wrote it once and the scores are as seen above.

All other processes were seamless and uneventful apart from ECA where I had to wait on IQAS for 5months before my evaluation was completed. Was worth it in the end because my LLB was given a professional degree equivalence.

Now my watch has ended. TIME TO DISVIRGIN MY PASSPORT.

Congratulations teddy

SMH....nothing is ever straightforward in this country.

Did you pay the N10,000 for 50th anniversary too?
Yes I did.

Thank you, was it straightforward getting law school to send your transcripts to WES?
No, it wasn’t. Firstly, one has to be physically present or send a proxy to initiate the process. Even after I filled out all the necessary paperwork and made payments, I had to wait for a long time because according to them, the DG was busy and couldn’t sign the transcript.
When it was eventually signed and sent, verification was another war because their internet got broken.

@boundlessjoy congrats on the successful conclusion of your application.

Do you plan to practise law when you get over there? If you plan to, what will be the advisable ECA body to use for the initial pre-PR application that will make NCA leg more straightforward.

Will WES/IQAS send the assessment to NCA instead of me going back to law school?
Thank you bozz007.
I used WES for my ECA. Although I didn’t get points for a professional degree, I chose the 2 certificates option.

As a matter of fact, NCA has acknowledged the receipt of my credentials from WES and same shows on my NCA profile as approved. I currently await the result of the assessment.

So yes, WES will send the converted course by course evaluation report to NCA and NCA will accept it.

I am sorry, I don’t have enough information about IQAS in this regard.

I hope this answers your question? Let me know if you need further info.

I've been digging on the thread about WES evaluation. I stumbled on the attached photos in Part 1. It may well be that there's no difference between WES and IQAS for evaluation of LL.B for lawyers. Is this still the position oe things have changed?

boundlessjoy, did your ECA for LLB with WES carry anything like "first professional degree"?

Please see the attached photos.
No. It doesn’t say anything about it being a first professional degree in law. It simply states thus: Canadian Equivalency: Bachelors degree (four years)

It’s COPR guys! cheesy

IELTS – June 2, 2018
ECA – August 30, 2018
ITA – Sept. 5, 2018
AOR – Sept 14, 2018
RPRF – November 15, 2018
1st Ghost update – December 24, 2018
2nd Ghost/File Approved – December 31
PPR – January 9, 2019
PP submitted – January 17, 2019
CIC profile updated to approved/Counterfoil generated – Jan. 22nd
PUM – Jan. 24th

IN THE DAY’S OF IGNORANCE!
I started this process not knowing that there were other ECA bodies aside WES! I had already paid WES before I discovered that all I would get from my LLB was “Bachelors Degree equivalent”. I wasn’t sure if that was good enough, then it occurred to me to consult nairaland (God bless the founding fathers of this thread). After weighing my options, I decided to arrange for my law school transcript to be sent to WES as well so I could at least claim 2 or more. My undergrad school kept saying that they did not receive WES verification until they finally did after 7weeks! When it was time for Nigerian law school to verify, they said their internet was broken (whatever that means) I had to pay extra 10k for paper mailing.

IELTS
I didn’t have enough time to study for IELTS because of my job. But I was able to do some listening and reading exercises. I also tried writing on the task 2 paper to see what 250 words should look like. (Tip was from newmum0615)
Did IELTS June 2, 2018 and results were 8.5, 9, 7.5, 7.5

I couldn’t enter the pool because ECA. On August 30, 2018, ECA landed. LLB = 4yr Bachelors Degree equivalent, Law School = 1 year Post Graduate Diploma.
Without much ado, I plunged into the pool - head first - with a CRS of 474.

POF
I got 2 bank reference letters, one was in the required format; the other, not quite but I didn’t care much. No account statements!

PCC
I paid 17k for my Nigerian PCC!
The police man scanned the documents to me in color, I affixed my fingerprints and scanned back to him with copies of my passport photo and passport document data page. FBI PCC was a breeze.

MEDICALS:
I paid $375USD for My medicals! Insurance no dey gree cover immigration medicals. I was emailed my medical report in 2days.

TICK…TOCK…
I submitted my application on September 14, 2018 when my passport had about one-month validity. I had already requested a new one though so I raised a CSE when it arrived.
So, I thought I would receive PPR within 3 weeks because people have been preaching that US residents get faster processing times. But I waited, and waited, and waited – for PPR. After a few weeks, I became agitated upon realizing that I did not state my internship experience with a US Federal Government agency. I read of how people were refused because they failed to declare past or current work history. I quickly raised a CSE before my village people will reach my file before me.
When I received my RPRF, I thought that PPR was near, na lie! I waited again, and again, and again! People with later AOR dates were getting PPR left, right and center, yet US residents were not moving (per immitracker).

HUSTLE YOUR OWN PPR!

After I got the two ghost updates, I called IRCC on January 7, and was told my file had been approved but that it might take a little more time for me to receive the PPR email. At that time, I had read how people were hustling their own PPR from NDVO, I quickly joined the hustle and in less than 24hrs, I got my own PPR. (By the way, I think NDVO has stopped that benevolence). I requested a change of VFS to submit my passport but received no response in that regard.

After waiting for some days, I sha submitted my passport with my local VAC and the rest is history!

PS: Application was on IP2 from AOR to PPR and file never left the CIO.

I want to thank this family for the selflessness and love that radiates all corners of this thread. Despite the fights that occur at intervals, we all know that “what binds us together is stronger than what pulls us apart” per Obama POTUS (as he then was).

And those to whom this may matter: Do not start this journey on your own accord, but “…in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall (it’s a certainty) direct your path”. Wherever you are encountering difficulties, do not hesitate to ask God for the wisdom to surmount the obstacles because He gives (wisdom) to all men generously! (James 1:5). Never forget that to an infinite God, all finites are equal. And when Jesus walked out of that tomb, impossibility became an illusion!

Good to know that WES ECA is now favorable and very economical to use. Back in the day we used IQAS.

I think you should send WES an email telling them your concerns and how you would want the wordings to be... dunno if it'll work but you could try at least! ( sorry for the late reply)

Ermm...not quite. I went the 2 certificates route.
Thanks for your response.

Your transcripts won't be sent alongside the report of you are a recipient and NCA will not accept it.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate

Remove yourself as a recipient. You don't get to receive it, the report will be sent only to the NCA.
May I know the reason though?
What happens if I receive it? I’ll still be able to view the PDF copy anyway isn’t it?

WAEC isn't needed. It's course by course evaluation but make sure NCA is the only recipient. Is your law school transcript with WES too?
Could you throw more light on this?
There are 2 recipients on my account viz;
Myself (by default) and NCA.
Do you mean I should edit myself out of the recipients list?

Also, if you have received your upgraded report, does it say that the credentials were verified by your school (against the Credential Authentication column) ?

That's a welcome development...

I'm assuming you did the EE application, did you also use your WES evaluation report?
Yes I did the EE application and I used my WES ECA report for my Application.

When I called NCA though, they said they accept credentials from WES but that the report has to state that the credentials were verified by the issuing institution and not just sent by the institution. On my ECA report, it is stated that the institutions verified the credentials, but I am not sure whether they will state the same in the course-by-course report.

I looked up a sample of an ICAP course by course evaluation report on WES’ website, and the verification thing isn’t stated on it. But then again, it could be that a verification wasn’t required for that credential and therefore was not done.

Any advice?

I doubt WES has anything to do with NCA and it's assessment.

Check the previous page, a breakdown of the process was explained by @blessings2017
Thanks for your response dear. I called NCA today (Jan. 14, 2019) to ask if they accept credentials from WES, and they answered in the affirmative. It saves me some time and money.

Hi Fam, this is urgent please. I am about ordering an upgrade of my credential assessment with WES for NCA assessment. I’m kinda confused whether to order a course-by-course or document by document evaluation. Those that have walked this path, please contribute, those that haven’t but have ample knowledge, please lend your voice ink. Thank you.

PS: I didn’t submit my WAEC to WES, will it be required now?

Does one really need to wait for ECA hard copy before filling the application form? Can't one upload the soft copy sent by WES which is already in pdf?
Oga, nobody waits for the hard copy. The soft copy is more than sufficient.

You are welcome! smiley

Congrats to ITA clinchers,
Please I want to submit my profile on CIC but am a bit confused, I read there were supposed to be two places showing work experience and personal work history where someone can input his/her details but am just seeing work history ( and that’s supposed to be the one you do not provide references for) so which is the one I would be providing reference for??
It’s okay dear. You will only be able to fill in your personal history post ITA. For now, you are only required to state the work experience(s) for which you intend to claim points. No documents are needed at this stage.
I hope this helps.
