A story.

I once donated a container of books to my local government library. The Chairman asked me to bring them to the local government (The library is in a different location). I asked why, and was told so they can access the value and compensate me accordingly, but I told them I am donating the books for free and need no compensation.

I was later informed that they would like me to sign a contract for a ₦100m and pay me like half and they will keep the rest. I was so angry that I ordered the books to be taken to the library and we shelved them. This made me a pariah in my community. I am told I'd never be considered for a government post, which I don't want in the first place, because neither will I steal but would stop them from stealing too.

We live in a democracy, where we get to repeat the exam of caring and competent leader election every 4 years. And at the moment, with less than a fifth of eligible voters voting, and less than a tenth for the winner, we are failing abysmally.

We are infants as far as democracy is concerned. Countries getting it "right" today have been at it for many hundreds of years. We are however blessed in that we can learn from those countries and shorten the time to success.

What we should do is educate ourselves to recognise caring and competence and vote for it. We may not pass and get it right at the next election or for many after, but we shall learn one day to get it right.

You can hate the Yoruba people all you want but we are here doing wonders right in your face and there's nothing you can do about it. In 25 years of our democracy there have been 2 Yoruba president and 1 VP. I understand your pain. But be like the Yorubas. See Christians and Muslim alike like human first before religion. See a Northerner like your fellow human being.

Allow every tribe and religion to be able to do whatever they want to do legally in your region.

Show the people that you can really manage differences, start that from your SE region.

Stop listening to people with shallow minds. People like Kanu, Ekpa, Abaribe and so on and maybe one day you will be Nigeria president. For now you are not trusted by the North or SS, Yorubas used to be the only people that believed in you until you allowed 2023 election get the best of your emotion. Now they are not going to be on your side no matter what. Let's see where Obi or any SE person will get their votes from in future general elections.
