Tinubu has turned INEC to a bandit organization

The INEC chairman should honorably resign, the INEC chairman should not be appointed by the president.

Every political party should pick a candidate they want for INEC chairman and all the parties should vote who they want among them till there is a winner for the appointment to take place.

Lithiumite:
Was obi right to have lied that govt was no longer paying subsidies on electricity or not?
It seems like you people live in another planet or something, When the government created the band-it plan for customers of electricity consumption, they removed total subsidy for people in Band A and reducuced subsidy for people in band B and C, so government still removed subsidies for people in electricity consumption though not full implementation.

So to say that government did not remove subsidy in electricity is false because they did.

Nigeria has its standing government, and can leave its equivalent of EU, which is the African Union or that of West Africa, though we'd likely regret it just as UK is regretting leaving EU and is trying to rejoin.

What you can not do is a region in Nigeria leaving Nigeria, just as Wales, Northern Ireland, England and Scotland can not leave the United Kingdom unless it is democratically voted for in a recognised referendum, which UK is unlikely to offer and abide by just as Nigeria isn't.

For a region in Nigeria to hold a referendum for any split you'd first need to elect majority senators and representatives who are campaigning and offering a referendum, and you might have noticed that none of them is campaigning for your vote on that basis.

I suggest you learn this!
Where is the standing Igbo government? Where is the standing Yoruba government? Hausa and so on? like England, Ireland, France, Italy and so on all have?

Shebi Igbos have been asking for referendum, why haven't the Nigerian government conducted it for them?

when the regions that have the majority of representatives don't want a referendum, how do you want the Igbos to now achieve this through the legislative process with the least number of representatives in Nigeria even having the lowest number of states (5)

Let me ask you, if you were an Igbo woman seeking for referendum in Nigeria with the way Nigeria is today, how would you go about it?

Please give me only realistic answers, with the knowledge that Hausas and Yorubas do not want a referendum for the Igbos and even fought a war that killed over 3 million Igbos in the past just to keep them together and constantly still shout that Nigeria is indivisible....

So please I want to hear from you...

You mention "learn from Europe", but I think it is you who has not learnt from Europe.

United Kingdom, for instance, is a formation of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and they all have different ideologies, and went through worse than we are, yet Keir Starmer is the democratically elected Prime Minister, and Charles Philip Arthur George is King.

Europe itself, after many ideological wars, united 27 member states under the European Union and have a parliament where representatives are all democratically elected.

I am from the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun, and our neighbour is Ilobu. We are so near each other that there is no clear boundary between us, and we even used to share the same local government until we got our own. For the past 5 years or so, we have been killing each other over land because we are "ideologically different".

One can not be ideologically the same as one's next door neighbour, but sense should teach one to live peacefully despite that, I'd have thought, and as most of Europe you ask that one learn from has learnt. And if one can not learn to live peacefully with one's neighbours then one simply must be ignorant.

P.s. Democracy is the bloodless process of "kill the bad ideologies" from all regions. You vote against the ideologies you want to kill for them to die.
Read what you wrote again from the beginning and see if any of the examples you wrote there looks exactly like Nigeria, ever country you listed all have their standing governments independent from each other and any member state has the right to walk away without going to war like Britain did to EU.

Is that the same with Nigeria?

Do you people ever learn?

Lengthy indeed, and I can't help feeling you are trying to drown me in verbiage, Brendaniel. I might return to the rest you wrote but I am cutting you off here for now.

It's your "Nigeria made me discover", that did you. You define "democracy is basically a system of government for the people and by the people", and then claim Nigeria, where about 100 million people registered to vote and only 25% voted made you discover.

The only decision a "large majority" made at the last election was to sit on their asses and not vote!

So, did that make you discover that people who refuse to get off their asses and vote are bound to be ruled by fools, and are likely to come here and wail that the democracy that they refused to engage in has left them with a government they don't like?
You can do whatever you want, but if as at now you don't still know why Nigeria is not working or you believe it is because people are not coming out to vote, then you are very far from reality...

The major problem of Nigeria is more ideological, we are not the same, the onyl way Nigeria may ever move forward is to kill the bad ideologies majorly from certain regions...

You people have refused to learn from Europe...

This is not a definition!

Let me explain something to you. You and I have discussed in the past, and even when we have disagreed, you have shown you have a brain and can use it. So please let us use our brains now. We might in the end be able to determine the sort of democracy that might benefit Nigeria or propose an alternative form of choosing those who rule us.

Define any type of democracy you understand, please.

Then define the sort of democracy you believe is being practiced in Nigeria.
I would have replied you much earlier, had a little issue with my electricity supply.

So democracy is basically a system of government for the people and by the people, sounds good right?

But in that definition lies the biggest flaw of democracy, why?

Since democracy is about the majority of the people having their way, the question is what kind of majority of what type of people?

This post might be a bit lengthy but it will show you why democracy has been failing in Africa especially Nigeria.

Nigeria made me discover that you can have a large majority making a bad decision in selecting leaders and electing them for the fewer good decisive electorates.

Please do note the words, selecting and electing because I will be dealing with them differently, it is also one of the major reason why the private sector seems to more successful than the government, the process to leadership is what makes the difference:

Take for instance, UBA bank, they want to employ staff members to work, the cadidates go through various tests, both aptitude, oral, physical and so on, why ?

Because they only want the best to come and value and make the best decisions that will grow the company, these tests are designed to pick people who fit the ideology for the company's growth and this system constantly works all over the world, meaning it is a universal system that works all over the world, tested and trusted, companies have grown to trillion dollar companies using this very system.

Now, this is even one side which is the follower-ship side, now let's talk about the leadership side, the same UBA says they want to pick their MD who is like the captain of the ship, they don't allow the whole staff members make that decision, only a selected (Board members) who have proven themselves loyal and highly invested in the bank are allowed to do that for the larger majority(staff members, customers, shareholders and investors) of the same bank .

And this system works all over the world growing the companies, so the questions we should all be asking is why didn't they choose this very kind of system in running and growing a country especially in Africa and Nigeria?

Why not have a system where the few good decision makers have their way for the good of everyone?

I know you will be saying in your mind that this is no longer democracy and it will deprive the rights of people, I will explain my modification of the system to still work as democracy because everyone will be a participator and have the opportunity to be among the few good, so it is still democracy.

So here is how it works:

1. Scrap the party system, just like in the companies, there are no parties, if you feel you are suited for any position, come forward regardless of who you are, educated or not, even if you don't know how to speak English, you will be communicated in your local dialect, application is free, you must only meet the minimum criteria, which are 18 years of age, no criminal records, must have paid your taxes in the area without defaulting in the area you live in the last 10 years and at least contributed to the development of the area you wish to contest with a project no matter how small in the last 5 years.

2. Screening eligible candidates, the questions will be based on basics of everything from Math, English, logic and so on but more centered around screening biased, negative and destructive ideologies, they will asked in very technical ways that even the participants may not know that the questions are tailored around detecting those of them who are biased, negative and destructive with their ideologies, Ai will do all that, questions will also be asked based on decision making solving issues based on economy, security and so on, the 10 best will be picked for every position being vied for , so only 10 candidates max will be eligible for voting for every available position.

3. Campaign, there will not be any campaign, Every candidate will write or do video or audio for their campaign scripts both for TV and radio and only INEC is allowed to advertise those scripts for them, INEC will also organize the debates and announce the dates and time for the debates to hold, so that voters can listen to them, the debates can hold 2 or 3 times before the election.

Now that's for the leaders up there, now for the voters:

1. Just like the tests that those coming out to lead had to write, every voter will also have to write a test in order to be eligible to vote, so the criteria in this one is a bit more flexible, you must have at least paid your tax in the area you live in the last 1 year, no criminal records in the last 4 years, done or contributed to community development(no matter how small in the last 1 year) and must be up to 18.

2. Eligible participants will write the same exam but this time no math, English and all of those general questions, the major target will be very technical questions majoring on finding out the person's ideology, principles, moral judgement, equity and justice balance, religious and ethnic bias, the questions will be so tailored in a way it looks very simple and the candidates may not know these are the things being gotten from them while they answer it , the idea is to screen bad voters and only pick the best, Ai will do all these.

3. Even if it only 10 voters that are eligible to vote at the end, I believe they will be making a better decision than the larger majority, and the good thing with this system is that people will be more committed to the country and take politics very serious, imagine not being able to vote because you failed your test or did not contribute to community development or pay your tax or have criminal record?

Everybody will buckle up because they want to be among those that will make decision, in fact people will start behaving better and more organized, also to note that this process will always hold every election cycle, just in case some eligible people are going astray.

For me this is the democracy that may work in Nigeria, anything outside this is for the country to split so every region can go work with their ideology or kind of democracy that works for them, because I will like my new country to adopt this after the split in case Nigeria doesn't modify this democracy they are practicing to to what I have written here.

The aim is to have a progressive system that only allows the best to choose the best for the good of everyone, that is democracy to me for now.

I don't have to answer you because this thread has nothing to do with Tinubu or being Igbo , you're the one being irrational and illogical . When you do wrong learn from it and move on . What's the difference between you and Tinubu that thinks he's always right . Both of you are in the same boat .
The questions you should be asking is:

Why is the Alaafin doing injustice to that man?

Why is he so comfortable doing it?

What is the man's offense?

And if the man committed any offense, is it to threaten to kill him that the Alaafin should be doing?

If you can answer these questions correctly then you will see why Tinubu and the Igbos are related to this matter.

Some of you seem not to know how these things work, you think when you do injustice to a person or certain people, it just ends there, no, you just sowed a seed that eill will germinate and produce fruits.
