That there are monumental plan to cause bloodshed and killings leading to total breakdown of law and order between Apri 1st to 5th 2019, this is in furtherance of their plan to create a state of Emergency in Rivers State, wherein Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Term in office would have expired "

AntiWailer:
Sure, until supreme court decides if necessary.

Wike was Governor despite losing at tribunal and appeal court until supreme court over turned the ruling.
The Wike was a different case, the tribunal cancelled the election and ordered for fresh Elections, since INEC had not conducted a fresh Elections yet that's why Wike remained in Office until the SC judgement

In this case the tribunal declared Adeleke winner and ordered that certificate of return should be given to him and that can't take place on a weekend, Oyetola will still be in office until he receives his certificate from INEC because there can't be a LACUNA in government

Murder of PDP Agent by F-SARs: Governor Wike to set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry

▪to fund a scholarship scheme for the deceased children

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced that the State Government will set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to ensure that the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) personnel who killed Dr Ferry Gberegbe, PDP Khana Collation Agent are brought to justice .

Governor Wike also announced a N200million scholarship for the four children of the Late Dr Gberegbe, directing the widow of the deceased to open bank accounts for each of the four children.

"We will set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to ensure that the culprits are brought to Justice. It is unfortunate that F-SARs killed the PDP Collation Agent.

"The State Government will offer scholarship to the four young children left behind by the deceased. The Mother of the children should open dedicated account for each of the children. The State Government will pay N50million to each of the four children for their education "

He spoke on Saturday in Port Harcourt when he led leaders of Rivers State on a condolence visit to the family of the slain lecturer .

The governor decried the shooting of the late lecturer by men of F-SARs led by Rivers F-SARs Commander, Akin Fakorede, at the Khana Collation Centre, where he served as the PDP Collation Agent. He said the fatal shots led to his death.

He said: "It is most unfortunate that the young man was shot dead by F-SARs led by Akin Fakorede in an attempt to cart away election results.

"Instead of us to allow people to choose who will represent and govern them, the security agencies will not allow that. Rather they prefer to kill us.

"He died in the course of the defending the PDP. He died in the course of defending democracy. I want to assure the family that all those who killed him will not go free".

Governor Wike said the Late Dr Ferry Gberegbe remained committed to the PDP even on his sick-bed. He said the deceased sent him a text message saying that he would very happy when Governor Wike is declared winner of the election.

Governor Wike stated that the State Government will also construct a house for the family of Late Dr Ferry Gberegbe and participate in his burial.

Also speaking, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said the late lecturer was a victim of the calculated oppression of the oil rich states by the Army and the F-SARs.

He said that the country is in distress, noting that the nation is sitting on the leg of gun-powder in view of the negative activities of the Federal Government.

"The Commander of F-SARs, Akin Fakorede will kill several people and he cannot be transferred or disciplined. The Police and Army have become politicians, always responding to politicians ", he said.

Widow of the deceased, Mrs Funke Gberegbe said that the family is yet to fully celebrate the doctorate degree bagged by Dr Gberegbe before he was brutally murdered by F-SARs operatives at the Collation Centre. She said that her late husband was the pillar of the family whose sudden death will negatively impact their lives.

Father of the deceased, Mr Conduct Gberegbe said he was shocked by the killing of his son by F-SARs operatives. The retired police officer described the late academic as his hope and future .

Ben Lekia, brother of the deceased, said the slain academic only recently bagged his doctorate and was preparing to make further progress before he was cut down.

Several mourners gathered at the residence of the deceased to sympathise with his family.

PoliticsINEC Fixes 20th March For Completion Of Rivers Governorship Election by brightec(op): 1:43am On Mar 16, 2019
INEC FIXES WEDNESDAY 20TH FOR COMPLETION OF POLLS IN 6 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Wednesday, March 20, 2019 for the completion of polls in six local government areas of Rivers State where elections did not hold during March 9 gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections even as it frowned at the roles played by some soldiers and armed gangs in trying to thwart the will of the people as expressed in the governorship and state assembly election in the state.

The decision followed the report of the fact-finding committee set by the Commission to probe the disruption of the collation of results in areas of the state.

The Commission, in a statement on Friday night, said that collated results in 17 local government areas of Rivers state are safe in the custody of INEC while results of 21 out 32 state constituencies of the state had been declared prior to the suspension of the process by INEC.

It said it will proceed with the collation of the remaining results while the detailed timeline for completion of the election on Wednesday 20 would soon be released. The statement issued by Barrister Festus Okoye read:

“On the 10th of March 2019, the Commission suspended all electoral processes in Rivers State having determined that there was widespread disruption of collation of results of the elections conducted on the 9th day of March 2019. Subsequently, the Commission set up a Fact-Finding Committee to assess the situation and report back within 48 hours.

“The Commission met on the 15m day of March 2019 and considered the report of the Committee and established the following:

“That the Governorship and State Assembly elections took place in most of the polling units and results were announced.

“That the results from 17 Local Governments out of 23 are available and are in the Commission’s custody.

“That the Declaration and Returns for 21 State Constituencies out of 32 were made prior to the suspension.

“That collation centres were invaded by some soldiers and armed gangs resulting in the intimidation and unlawful arrest of election officials thereby disrupting the collation process.

“Consequent upon the foregoing, the Commission:

“Expresses its displeasure with the role played by some soldiers and armed gangs in Rivers State disrupting the collation process and attempting to subvert the will of the people.

“INEC is committed to expeditious completion of the collation process where results of the elections have been announced.

“Will engage the security agencies at the national level and the lnter-Agency Consultative Committee at the State level to demand neutrality and professionalism of security personnel in order to secure a peaceful environment for the completion of the elections.
“Will also engage with key stakeholders in Rivers State with a view to ensuring a smooth and peaceful completion of the process.

“Will issue detailed timelines and activities for the completion of the election on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019."

PoliticsRivers Elections: INEC Weighs Four Options Today by brightec(op): 6:28am On Mar 15, 2019
DECLARE RESULTS, THAT'S THE BEST OPTION. OTHERWISE HOW DID ASSEMBLY MEMBERS GET ELECTED?

•APC, PDP set for make-up poll in six states

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the African Action Congress (AAC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties will today know their fate on the stalemated governorship poll in Rivers State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has summoned a meeting of its management to receive and consider the report of a fact-finding team it sent to the Southsouth state.

The electoral body may receive also the report on its investigation into the disruption of the poll in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

But top on the list of issues before INEC, as at last night, is the suspended election in Rivers State.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The panel on Rivers State will on Friday submit its report to INEC management. Thereafter, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and his team will consider the findings and make a pronouncement.

“We are aware of the interest which the suspension of the elections in Rivers State has generated and we want to resolve it as soon as possible.”

There are four options before INEC, The Nation has learnt. They are:

whether or not to cancel the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State;
Restricted conduct of elections only in units, wards or areas affected by violence.

Announcement of collated or retrieved results if the security situation does not permit a fresh poll;
declaring the results as it were and leaving the aggrieved to go to the tribunal.

According to the source, any delay in taking a decision may lead to a constitutional crisis in the state.

“INEC will be fair, just, equitable and it will be guided by the Electoral Act, 2010( as amended) in its decision on Rivers State.

“The panel has concluded its assignment. Were it not for the issuance of Certificates of Return to senators and Representatives-elect, we would have considered the report on Rivers on Thursday (yesterday).”

A statement last Sunday by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, said: “The commission has decided to suspend all electoral processes in Rivers State until further notice.

“This is in line with Section 26 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and Clause 47(e) of the regulations and guidelines of the commission.”

As at press time, it was gathered that the team which investigated the disruption of the collation and cancellation of results in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State had concluded its assignment.

“We will look at the findings of this committee to guide the conduct of supplementary elections in the state on March 23,” the source said.

The two leading parties – APC and PDP – have started preparations for the make-up poll ordered in six states on March 23.

The national leadership of the PDP said yesterday that the party was set for the supplementary poll in states where the elections were declared inconclusive.

The states are: Kano, Bauchi, Benue, Sokoto, Adamawa and Plateau.

Rising from an emergency National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja yesterday, the party should demanded that INEC release the results of the elections in those states and make returns as appropriate.

In a statement after the emergency meeting, PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan insisted that the party was in clear lead in the states where the poll was declared inconclusive.

He accused INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu of bias, citing “the results of the governorship election in Ogun State where the APC candidate was declared winner even when the margin of lead between him and the runner up was lower than the number of cancelled votes”.

The main opposition party regretted that INEC denied victory for PDP governorship candidates who found themselves in similar circumstances in the affected states.

The statement reads: “The PDP found it strange that INEC can have two sets of rules in the same election for the various political parties.

“More worrisome is the resolution which arose from a meeting between some governors of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, where the PDP has been informed that a decision was taken to seize Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Sokoto and Kano states in the March 23 scheduled supplementary election.”

The PDP said it had deliberated and interfaced with stakeholders from the various states where governorship supplementary elections have been scheduled to hold.

It added that following the deliberations, the party had mandated all its members to resist any attempt by anybody to tamper with the will of the people in their states.

The PDP said it was sure of victory in the affected states.

KANO

In Kano, a non-governmental organisation under the auspices of Kano State Civil Society Situation Room has filed a petition against the government over alleged attempt to buy votes ahead of the March 23 poll.

The co-convener of the petition comrade Abdulrazaq Alkali told reporters shortly after submitting the petition to the zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano, that his group was aware of the anti-graft agency’s efforts at curbing vote buying.

Alkali explained that the petition was filed to draw EFCC’s attention to alleged withdrawal from the state’s treasury.

He urged the commission to investigate his group’s allegation.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, described the petition as baseless.

Garo explained that the money withdrawn by the government was released to 13 councils out of which five were not among the local governments where the extra polls will take place.

“The funds released on the 12th of March were meant for executing government developmental projects,” the commissioner explained.

BENUE

Ahead of the make-up poll, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Council has called for more security personnel to curtail violence.

The council said: “From reports available, there is a plan to disrupt the re-run, especially in APC strongholds.”

The council’s spokesman, Chief Terlumun Akputu, told reporters in Makurdi that security should be strengthened to stamp out vote buying and intimidation.

Akputu advised INEC to insist on the use of the Electronic Card Readers (ECRs) before accepting any result from polling units.

“There is where in Nigeria that APC recorded zero votes, except In Guma Local Government Area despite having candidates and agents which he said were chased out of the polling units,” the council said.

BAUCHI

The Katagum Youth for Change (KYC) yesterday cautioned House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara against creating a crisis in the state.

It urged the Speaker and the PDP to stop misleading Nigerians on the political situation in the state.

KYC Chairman Mustapha Aleh spoke in Abuja against the backdrop of the eruption of violence in Bauchi after the governorship poll was declared inconclusive.

He said: “It is obvious that Bauchi erupted into violence after a briefing by the Speaker and PDP leaders in the state.

“We wish to warn Dogara and PDP against introducing a dangerous dimension to the politics of the state because of the desperation to make a cheap political point.

“The impression of lack of perfornance by Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar that Dogara and his gang of PDP desperados try to create is false, unfounded and should be disregarded.”
