I never bothered raising up my head. "It's a usual night reader, " I thought . Then I heard it, someone was locking the doorto the church ⛪ from inside.
Impulsively, I raised up my head. "Oh! It's you. Why are you locking the door nau? " I asked my neighbor, who just came into the church .
Then he advanced towards my direction like a lion lurking its prey. There was fear registered all over my face, I couldn't betray that. He grabbed my hair, pushed me towards the wall, and pressed his body heavily on mine. It was just so excruciating. He brought his disgusting mouth closer to mine. I flinched and screamed. I bit him very hard in his arm and tried to break away into a run towards the door . He came after me, gave me three resounding slaps in quick succession. He grabbed the fire extinguisher from the back of the door and hit me on the head twice. I fell. Blood gushed out from my head. He held my hair and dragged me into the farthest part of the church ⛪. He pushed me to the floor, tore my dress and made his way through me.
I was pained and weak to let out a scream . I winced and gnashed my teeth in pain. I watched him. I watched him strip and tear my pride into shreds like a piece of valueless ribbon.
When he was done with the dastardly act, he stood up , dressed up , looked at me contemptuously and left the church ⛪.

PoliticsGunmen Storm Port Harcourt Cemetery, Exhume Corpse Of Buried LGA Chairman by brightec(op):
Late Asari-toru LGA Chairman, Rivers State:

COVID-19: Armed men storm Port Harcourt cemetery, exhume corpse of late coronavirus patient.

The remains of the late Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local government area of Rivers State, Odiari Princewill who died of coronavirus, have been exhumed.

Late Princewill’s body was exhumed by gunmen suspected to be native of Buguma, his hometown.

Eyewitnesses say that some gunmen stormed Port Harcourt cemetery, shot sporadically in the air, headed for the site where the late LGA Chairman was buried and dug-out the coffin.

It was gathered that they escaped with the coffin through the Bille waterside jetty in Port Harcourt.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told DAILY POST that the gunmen were heard grumbling about the lackadaisical burial of Odiari Princewill.

“I think they are system men. The way they came to the cemetery everyone just slowly walked away. Sometimes, we use to have people come like that especially when the person that died belong to a group.

“But this one is different. They just came and went straight to the burial ground and started digging out the sand. They were like 10 of them. They said they want to give the Chairman a proper burial in his hometown,” he said.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, promised to confirm the incident.

However, reports from Buguma says crisis is looming as Rivers State government sent troops to prevent entrance of the exhumed body of late LGA Chairman into Asari-Toru Local Government Area.

The late Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, Odiari Princewill, died in the early hours of Thursday of coronavirus and was buried immediately at the Port Harcourt cemetery in line with the COVID-19 burial protocol by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

RIVERS STATE SET TO INAUGURATE CASSAVA PLANT
* To employ 4,500 persons

The Rivers State Cassava Processing Company located at Afam, Oyigbo Local Government Area will soon come on stream.

Governor Nyesom Wike who stated this Thursday after inspecting the plant, pointed out that the company when fully operational would employ 4,500 persons and also boost agriculture in the state.

He stated that the State Government has 70 percent equity share in the project which is in partnership with Shell Petroleum Development Company(SPDC) of Nigeria.

"We are quite happy that this project which was initiated by the previous administration in 2012 and abandoned has come to the stage of completion.

"When we came on board and saw the usefulness of this project to our economy, we did not hesitate to release funds to complete it.

"As you can see this project which is about 90 percent complete would have been commissioned this month if not for the COVID-19 pandemic which has negatively impacted global economy.

"Let me commend the management of this plant for fast-tracking the completion and the novel initiative that will use mobile machines to collect cassava from the farmers at their various clusters.

"This, will no doubt, reduce the challenge of logistics and increase farmer participation, " the governor stated.

Earlier, the Managing Director of the Rivers State Cassava Processing Company, Ruben Giesen noted that the cassava processing plant when completed would increase income for small holder farmers by providing an enabling environment for them to sell their cassava tubers.

He also disclosed that the plant would produce about 45 thousand metric tons of cassava flour daily while about 12 thousand metric tons of cassava tubers would be needed for collection by its mobile plants from farmers around the state for processing.

Mr. Giesen commended the State Governor for embarking on the project, which he described as the first of its kind in sub-saharan Africa.

HealthCOVID19: PTF Approves 3 Potential Herbal Cures For Validation by brightec(op): 9:33am On May 28, 2020
The Federal Government said yesterday that claims by some local researchers that they have developed a cure for COVID-19 have fallen flat in the face of scientific investigations.

According to government, of the 19 claims subjected to validation protocols by the Federal Ministry of Health, only three passed preliminary stages and worthy of further investigations.

The Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 disclosed this yesterday at its daily berifeing, adding that it had been deliberating on the need to re-open schools and gave conditions for re-opening of schools which would be fumigated in collaboration with sub-national entities.

The PTF, which is promising that safety measures would be put in place before such a decision was taken, also restated its earlier decision to redefine the country’s case management system in the light of new research outcomes indicating that the virus was no longer infectious after 10 days of administering treatments to patients. It expressed support to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on its decision to work with relevant stakeholders to pilot the introduction of electronic voting in 2021.

Drug claims

Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Mr Boss Mustapha, noted that the subject of research had been central to the mandate, thinking and planning of the PTF, but said of the numerous local drug claims evaluated, only three passed the preliminary stages.

He said: “As a measure of the importance attached to research and development of local capacity for finding a cure to the COVID-19, the Federal Ministry of Health held a virtual meeting with a number of researchers and scientists with claims to cure for COVID-19 and of the numerous claimants, three were found to deserve further investigation and have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for appropriate review.

“Similarly, efforts are being made by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to subject a good number of locally manufactured COVID-19 equipment to verification and subsequent certification.” He appreciated the lower rate of transmission and case fatalities in Africa but added that countries in the region needed to progressively increase their capacity to detect cases, not just to know the extent of the outbreak, but also to identify and initiate care for people most at risk.

RomanceCosta Rica Becomes First Country in Central America To Approve Same-Sex Marriage by brightec(op): 3:12pm On May 26, 2020
Costa Rica gave the go-ahead to same-sex marriages on Tuesday, making it the first country in Central America to do so after a landmark court ruling came into effect at midnight.

The nation’s constitutional court ruled in August 2018 that a ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional and gave parliament 18 months to legislate or the provision would be automatically nullified.

Earlier this month, more than 20 lawmakers tried to delay the marriage ruling by 18 months but the measure failed and the ban was lifted at midnight – although couples will have to opt for online weddings due to the coronavirus restrictions.

PoliticsHotel Demolition: SERAP Drags Wike, FG To ECOWAS Court by brightec(op): 12:15pm On May 24, 2020
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has sued Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the Federal Government before the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja over what it termed; “brutal crackdown,” repression, and grave violations and abuses of human rights of the people of Rivers State.

The suit filed on behalf of SERAP by its solicitors, Kolawole Oluwadare, Atinuke Adejuyigbe and Opeyemi Owolabi, in suit number ECW/CCJ/APP/20/20, filed last Friday and made available to media on Sunday, the organisation maintained that “Governor Wike is using COVID-19 as a pretext to step up repression and systematic abuses against the people of Rivers State, including, carrying out mass arbitrary detention, mistreatment, forced evictions, and imposing pervasive controls on daily life.”

Also read: REVEALED: There are plans to impose emergency rule in Rivers – Wike

According to SERAP: “Governor Wike is using executive orders 1 and 6, 2020 as instruments to violate and abuse the rights to liberty and freedom from arbitrary arrest and detention, to a fair trial, and to property, contrary to Nigeria’s international human rights obligations, including under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.”

“This suit is primarily against Governor Wike and the Rivers state government for failing to respect, protect and ensure the constitutionally and internationally guaranteed human rights of the people of his state. The governor has used executive orders 1 and 6 to run roughshod over the human rights of Nigerians.”

SERAP sought the court for an order of injunction to “restrain and stop Governor Wike from further using, applying and enforcing executive orders 1 and 6 or any other executive orders to harass, arbitrarily arrest, detain and demolish property of the people of Rivers state.”

SERAP, also sought an order directing Governor Wike and the other defendants to pay adequate monetary compensation to the victims of human rights violations and abuses and to provide other forms of reparation, which may take the form of restitution, satisfaction or guarantees of non-repetition, and other forms of reparation that the Court may deem fit to grant.

PoliticsCOVID19: Taskforce Chairman Host Large Birthday Party In Rivers by brightec(op): 2:22pm On May 19, 2020
VIOLATION OF COVID19 EXECUTIVE ORDER OF THE RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT BY THE VICE CHAIRPERSON OF ELGA.

Hon. Uche Ken Ndukwu, the Vice Chairperson of Etche LGA who is also the Chairman Etche LGA Taskforce on COVID19 has violated the COVID19 Executive Order of the Rivers State Government by throwing a birthday party for her husband on 19th May 2020. Interestingly, Uche Ken Ndukwu is also the Head Of COVID19 Taskforce in Etche LGA and has refused to lead by example.

The same woman that went to Umuechem market and destroyed People's Palm Oil, yam, Plantain, gari and fruits because it was against the executive order gathered over 200 Persons to celebrate her husband's birthday.

She also went to Igbo Etche and slap some people for violating the order. There's a rumour that She's even collecting money from some Hotels in Etche LGA and allowing them to operate under her protection. Is this not hypocrisy?

Our Governor is trying his best to make sure that COVID19 will not escalate in Rivers State. He has closed down restaurants, hotels, drinking joints and closed our borders.

The two Hotels that violated the executive order were demolished by the governor. The manager of the hotels were remanded as we speak.

Our Governor also put off the PDP Thanksgiving because he wouldn't want to endanger the lives of Rivers people.

It's unfortunate that while our Governor is working hard to fight COVID19 in Rivers State, the Vice Chairperson of Etche LGA is rubbishing the effort of the Governor.

Even the LGA Chairman Hon. Obinna Anyanwu has not rested. He's moving up-and-down in Etche and monitoring compliance with the COVID19 order but his Vice is throwing a huge birthday party for her husband.

Those who attended the birthday yesterday said it was a huge gathering and celebration as they drank and ate to their satisfaction. The DJ entertained them and they danced to high heavens.

Hon. Uche Ken Ndukwu has set a wrong precedence in Etche LGA and Rivers State at large and if nothing is done, others may follow suit using her as example. All the attendees of the birthday are supposed to be quarantined including the celebrant and Hon. Uche Ken Ndukwu.

Governor Wike has not done anything since yesterday... is it that he Loves Etche People and Hates Eleme People?

Time is tickling!!!

RIVERS HOTEL DEMOLITION: ELEME PDP YOUTH LEADER, PRINCEWILL OSAROEJIJI BREAKS SILENCE.

... accuses Rivers commissioner of fraim-up and misinforming Gov Wike

The wanted PDP youth leader of Eleme LGA of Rivers State, who was accused of leading thugs to beat up task force members who went to enforce the Governor's directives to lockdown hotels has accused a the state commissioner of finance Isaac Kamalu as one behind his travail.

Princewill Osaroejiji spoke extensively to Cross Country Reporters for the first time since he was declared wanted by the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike.

"When I was called upon by the manager of the hotel (Prodest Hotel), he said there are some men that came there, and they said he should give them some money,.. because I know that place has been short down for long"

"I went there, when I got there it was people I nominated, the person I nominated... eehn Nkolowa Saka, he is my personal CSO, I nominated him for the state Covid-19. They were just 4 persons."

Osaroejiji who is Alode youth President clarified that Prodest Hotel located in his community was not in operation, accused task force members of demanding bribe from the Hotel manager. He also accused the finance commissioner of taken advantage of his proximity to the Governor to misinforming into taken wrong actions.

"How will I led thugs to beat up people I nominate? This is not what Governor asked you people to do. Why will you go and ask for money? Is the hotel in operation? Even if it is in operation, you have to stop it".

"Because he (Finance Commissioner Isaac kamalu) wants to fight me, he has vowed not to forgive me. He was close to Governor that's why he misinformed Governor. That's why I want Governor to call all the Chiefs, all the whole leaders of PDP in Eleme"

The Eleme PDP youth leader denied leading thugs to beat up members of the Covid-19 task force, and that he is not a cultist. He faulted the commissioner of information's claim that the task force members were critically injured and lying in the hospital, describing it as wrong information.

"Nobody beat anybody. Most of the people that were lying down in the hospital...Governor brought food for Eleme people on Sunday, that's the same day they demolished the hotel, those people (people lying down in the hospital) were there sharing the food, every ward went with their own".

"On Monday they shared the food, this people were sharing food and people where seeing them. Nkolowa Saka was the one that shared their unit own, which is the Covid-19 palliatives, that was on Monday."

"So do you see? For them to go and just lie down in the hospital, bandage themselves in the evening of Monday, that's a wrong information"

"If any person was beaten up, they can not be there when they were demolishing the place, and that the same Sunday they went to the area command where they shared food. On Monday they were sharing food in the community and people were seeing them. Let's even assume they were beaten up and they were hospitalized, will people be seeing them?"

"I married 17 years ago, I have 6 children, I have never been hand-coved before. I have never been indicted somewhere, I have never been invited anywhere for criminal issues. How could I be part of...to lead thugs? I fight against cultism, criminality. So why will it be Covid-19 something that they will declare me wanted?"

Mr Osaroejiji reinstated that he is a responsible family man, further demanded a meeting with the Governor for the issues to be sorted out.

"I want the Governor to see me one-on-one with the whole leaders. Please this is my pleadings to you".

"So many things has been happening in the party, they can suspend somebody and they can recall back the person when they find out the truth, when they found out the truth because he (the Governor) was misinformed."

"I am not worried about the suspension, but let the truth be said. I can not leave APC to PDP and they give me an appointment now, suspended from the party then I go back to APC, I don't do things like that. I will remain until Governor finds out the truth."

The youth leader said he is not the owner of the hotel as was peddled.

"The owner of the Prodest Hotel, I saw him last 5 years ago. If I see him now I can not recognise him. The owner of the hotel... he doesn't even live here, he lives in Lagos. Five years ago was when I know.. eeh I saw him, five years, if not more than. I am not the owner of Prodest!"

"Some persons that have meet me that I should go and make them local government chairman, and I said I am not the one that will select who will be local government chairman, are involved in this thing, and I will tell them one by one. This thing was a framed, framed, framed story!!"

Elsie who is currently in 200 level studying English language took to facebook on her matriculation day saying “Hello Everyone.
She’s My Mum and Family. Life has thrown us from the

with their source of Livelihood and Joy.
My Mum sells fish(different kinds), Mum doesnt allow us
(siblings and I) to visit her at the market neither has she
ever told us to come sell with her, She would always say I
don’t want you people to see me suffering Under the rainy
season, Sun and Harmattan season, Mum still sells fish.
What can I really do to repay her love?? Silver nor Gold
won’t be enough. I’m proud of My Mum who sells fish and
has also determined to train her daughter to the higher

There’s no need to wonder why I did this, Its not about the

Before the incident, She took to facebook, telling people to patronize her and took pictures with her mum in their shop.

Most people would be ashamed or shy to tell people that their mum sells fish but she appreciated her mum because she knows it is what feeds her and her family.

Unfortunately, she had already lost her dad before now which literally makes her an orphan who has other siblings to carter for.

However, the SUG president, Elvis Gogor has promised to pay her school fees till she graduates. This has put a little smile on her face.

Please I do not know this girl facially, but my heart is broken hearing that she's an orphan. May God help her bear the great loss.

Bighead9:
You don't know nothing about Politics. The reason is this, he wanted an avenue where the court will entertain the case and he will make sure it drags till May 28th. By then, Wike will sieze to be Governor of Rivers and the new Speaker of the State Assembly will become the Acting Governor.

When the rerun take place, Wike will have no access to the State funds to buy his way to victory. If that happens, the AAC candidate will sweep the entire votes from the Local Governments where the rerun took place.

Any which way, wicked Wike must go.

Wike is a Gonner already.
I urge Amaechi to come back hard on Wike. The AAC candidate is already leading in the 17 local government that have been counted.

There shall be no mercy for Wike, he should get his Bags and Baggages ready. He will soon be voted out of Office.
So why is Awara going to court to stop collation and conclusion of the Elections
