there is something going on now... thought i should share it wit everyone.... although am yet to setup one.. but an installer friend of mine has been installing difft starlink kits since december.. we refer to it as the backdoor...
cons of this installation 1.. u cant change ur wifi password in a hurry 2. u dont have access to your dashboard 3. chances of you receiving new starlink kit to me is slim cos u need ur dashboard to login and contact customer care ( still asking questions) 4. cost of activation varies from 200k to 250k (inclusive of the fist month subscription) 5. price of monthly sub is 90k
let me hear ur view on this. will be activating one soon |

princely009: Dam5reey1 clearly stated that his post is for educational purpose only. Besides everything he said there is totally true becus i experienceed it with one of my lithium batteries just last week. The battery was barely getting to 100% SOC daily due to undersized panels and a high dust in the area. Last week, the inverter cut off power, beeping low battery bt the display on the battery was at 48% SOC and i was surprised. I called Valto whom i got the battery from and he told me to charge the battery until it stops receiving current and also to ignore the display on the battery even if it is showing 100% and charge the battery until it stops taking current that the BMS will recalibrate itself. I did exactly as he instructed and everything is back to normal. The BMS has recalibrated itself. I believe Valto didn't explain all the details that Dam5reey1 went into in his post with me becus he knows I jst wanted solution and not explanations. And before you say I am being biased myself, Valto is my plug for lithium batteries. I hav bought over 6 batteries frm him. Three (11.7kwh, 14.3kwh and 16kwh) batteries personally for myself, and more than 3 through my recommendations to my friends and installer). And all are performing excellently well. Infact, I am planning to buy another 16kwh battery from him for a friend next week.
PS- I have oversized my panels in that location and my battery gets fully charged every day now. checkout the meaning of constructive journalism and u will understand my point of view. Did he care to explain the root cause of the issue and proffer solutions to it? SOC drift is not a new thing in the batteey industry. It even happens to professionally coupled packs. His post portrays the view of a bad pack from the seller |

Dam5reey1: Good to be back again. Back to BMS SOC thing. This post is for educational purposes..
As a Customer service person, I support several brand now. So a Customer reached out this yesterday and his inverter was showing 24.6V with 58% SOC on the battery.
To an average User, Our Client has 58% why is inverter showing low Voltage warning, was scared that something is wrong and turned off everything
So according to our client Sun has been poor and battery has not been charging well, So we checked the voltages and told our client your batteries are close to dead, but how do we explain this when battery is showing SOC at 58%..
So we explained LFP voltage curve blablabla. Client was convinced but not fully.
Fast forward to today.
Out of curiosity we received the video of the battery now at 100% but still charging at ~12.8A.
Upon inspection we saw average Voltage at 3.34 means this battery cannot be at 100% it just BMS fooling itself.
So we explained that Flat voltage curve of LFP and informed the client that the Battery will be Fully charged when the average cell voltage is at 3.45 and above and the charging current is Zero Amp.
Client now fully understand the whole LFP Curve and BMS drift.

QuoteJust1nce: 2Mbps * 3 devices = 6 Mbps maximum demand 6Mbps * 2 tenants = 12 Mbps maximum demand
Starlink on a bad day can still deliver nothing less than 50Mbps; leaving 38Mbps for you On a good day, 150 - 300Mbps is not unusual, leaving 138Mbps - 288Mbps for you
Note that data usage is unlimited. You might need to reconsider. While unlimited data at 10k/2Mbps x 3 devices per month might look good to them, there is still plenty on the table without hurting your own speed.
At least 4Mbps for a start per device; maxing it at 24Mbps or 10Mbps per SSID maxing out at 20Mbps This second option is preferred and each tenant can have their own SSID and share the 10Mbps speed how they like among their devices.
But if you're on the roaming plan and in Lagos; soon to be 167k; all bets are off! Good luck. I have been using an isp on 5mbps unlimited bandwidth for about 4yrs now. During the day am pegged to a data plan but once its 8pm .. its unlimited. Serves me well but like all networks there are ups n down. I have my smart TV on it, 2 phones n 2 pc. Still consume up to 500gb monthly |

Dam5reey1: Na so jare people are too emotional.
I only show cell behavior if you discharge them below 3V, regardless of the manufacturer same applies across, if he read between the line he will understand say na only Cell I bought, the pack was built by me.
What I was expecting is a someone to come out and show me their pack at 47V, and lets see the Cells behavior, this thread is DIY where we learn not a market place. Where we market or demarket anyone.
I once mentioned this when there was arguments about cells grades and all.
I hinted that most LFP seller will tell you charge to 3.45 and cut off at 3V so as to cover some flaws. Now that is evident.
Many went against the Pack that can reach 3.65V without OVP getting triggered and condemn seller for selling a 14.6V charger. ur charge curve shud tell u dat there is really notin 2 gain above 3.55v just unnecessary stress on ur cells.. same tin with ur discharge curve |

Tucode: Okay. The system was installed in first week of August this year. By first week of September, the charge controller had gotten bad. The charge controller would not read (the watts and amps will be showing 0.00) but the battery will be charging. It’s a 15kwh Felicity lithium battery. The charge controller is also felicity. So the installer took the charge controller to the company to repair. He brought it back 3 weeks later. After 5 days, the charge the issue resurfaced. The controller won’t read anything but the battery will charge (although it charges slower than it normally does with the controller ). We kept using the system like that while waiting for the installer to return the charge controller. Then two Sundays ago, we got back from church and smelled something burning, we went to check and it was the inverter (10kva felicity non hybrid inverter). The installer came to remove everything and took it back to the company and they said the inverter was burnt. I have never loaded beyond 28% on the inverter since we got it. That’s what happened. I don’t know how manage it happened. the same thing would happen if you buy another set of equipment... there seems to be a connection problem here.. An inverter doesnt get burnt in a hurry.. something must have triggered it.. if i may ask do you have enough protection attached to these devices.. How are we sure those equipments are original esp the felecity charge controller.. As for the lithium battery i have never used felecity but since you do, do you have a way of monitoring what goes in and out of the battery.. and your panels, what brands and how are they connected( this part na ur installer go know am) and what was the cable sized used... i think you may need another installer.. maybe you can snap the remaining skeletal structure.....lets have a look esp the protection part.. Also state your location maybe someone here can come have a look |

Tucode: Hello guys, good evening. Can anyone tell me about SMS hybrid inverter in terms of durability and performance? I am planning to get a 10.2kva sms transformerless hybrid inverter to replace my older inverter that got damaged. Also, I heard that transformer based inverters are better than transformerless inverters. Also, is there any need for me to add another mppt charge controller to an hybrid inverter that already has a 160A mppt controller? The installer was telling me that I should still get a separate charge controller for it… Please Nairaland inverter profs, I need your urgent response.
Finally, apart from Felicity brand, which other inverter brands are reliable and durable and affordable? Thank you. wat exactly damaged d previous one? So we can recommend something better |

isangjohnson: Boss, 78w idle power consumption for 5kva of transformer based is better. Hybrid is not better at all. Mine consumed 72w and I'm planning to change it.... 5kva 48v hybrid inverter should consume 50w max on idle mode. lol.. srne 10kw is 84w on idle |

samnaija: Update, i have finally acquired a 10 kva inverter and for the last 2months i have sampling and pushing the limits of the inverter. Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions on the brand to buy.
I settled for Felicity ivps100 48. Purely inverter and non hybrid. I can comfortable power 2 ac , use threadmill while my wife is using hotplate. I have thrown different gadgets with different scenerous at it. You name it water heater, with ac, pumping machine all. The inverter stand no shaking.
Since i am okay with this, like i wrote way back on this thread. I don't sell most of solar items after an upgrade its been a journey of 13 years. I have to create space and let go of things.
Up for sale two 5 kva inverters both 48v. ( Wall and standing type). what is the idle power consumption of this inverter 2. 5 kva inverter 48v (standing type) 3.5 kva inverter 24 v (wall).
All inverters are transformer based. Will upload pictures of the inverters for sale.... Thanks again everyone... |
