twinskenny: Thank you chief for your observation
This is just inverter and battery installations only.. I don't use busbar for two batteries installations I just paralled them with the same cable length.. all good... I have installed both AC in and AC out breakers installed . thank you for your observation.. we learn everyday.. shud there b an issue, can those cables withstand a large amount of current than they are rated for? those breakers cant help in catastrophic events.. |

I usually charge between 40-20 amps depending on voltage.
It's a 3 bedroom apartment and being using that stabilizer since 2020. can you share the model of the stabilizer? |

Unfaized: Where una dey see 15w chargers? Everybody just dey drop opinions lol.
The average chargers in the market right now are at least 25w, with some going as high as 40-50w power draw.
Phone charging business requires alot of energy, especially if you're located in a busy place that can do up to 100 phones and powerbanks in a day.
It's easy to throw words around like 2kva lol, try am first, body go tell u 😂. Better go and get a 4.2kva inverter if you're sure of 100 phones and above. That way nothing concern you with future upgrades. Don't be pennywise pound foolish. e de easy to calculate we u nor de inside.. |

Litewriter: God bless you.... I was able to comment, then I saw this. It's not as if the power banks draw their rate capacity in an hour, most of this power banks draw max continuous power of 20w . I was speaking in terms of energy and not power. If I was to explain in power terms I would explain in that direction. |

mctfopt: I never knew that charging phones consumed so much power until a friend opened a charging shop near school. He runs at a minimum of 600W even on days when there aren't many phones. With 78 charging points, the wattage adds up pretty fast. He currently uses two old 220Ah tubular lead acid batteries paired with four 550W solar panels. Eventually, he will have to swap out those old batteries for lithium ones. even me sef shock. U see those power banks, especially dose ones dat can stay 3 days give dem chance. AyobamiOluwole: You are wrong to do your maths that way and you also don’t understand the energy movement.
Let’s be generous to say that the owner uses a 15Watts chargers in his shop:
10 power banks = 15Watts by 10 = 150Watts 15 phones = 15Watts by 15 = 225watts
Total running loads at a time = 375watts per 1 hour.
Meaning that on the system is 375watts an hour. Nothing like 1kwh of power.
The power banks will take 5hours to completely charge while the phones will at most be filled in 2 hours. That 5 hours is enough to get your battery full and still charge those devices if you calculate well.
The duration of how long he runs the 375watts is most importantly based on his solar panels and battery bank. If he has solar panel of 1kwh, don’t forget that the generation of power on an ideal day is about
1k watts by 5hours =5kw
Meaning he has 5kwh per day. While his load is 375watts which will run for about 13hours a day. Meaning that 10 hours is enough for 20 power banks and the remaining 3hours (375watts by 3 hours) is enough for 75 phones.
Do your maths this way, gather enough research to know how many customers you will likely get a day and buy your set up that matches it.
Back to the shop owner and many others like him, they just don’t know the maths too, and they don’t like to ask before they get into it. Chikina. Are we neglecting the amount of energy in these banks? u are converting from ac to dc, where are the losses in ur calculation.... what i explained above is based on energy and not power... |

Penuelseun: Baba, phone charging is no small business o especially if you are in a busy or student area, I have a client who started with about 20 phones using a 3000w satchet psw inverter with 24v 100ah battery and 2pcs 455w solar panels and 60a powmr charge controller, he used it for less than 2 months before needing an upgrade as the inverter cannot keep up with his load. Now he has changed the inverter to 4.2kw with 2 extra 455w solar panels, but the power still goes off in the evening during periods of low sunshine as his load is now nearing 2kw They don't really understand the energy movement.. A 20000mah power bank is roughly 74wh.. A 5000mah battery is roughly 18wh . Now do the maths of having 10 power banks and 15 phones when the sun is out. Daz 1kwh of power.. do you think your 4.5kwh can handle such load. Piple 15kwh de off here sef. @bassdow.. it's ok to start small with a gud system that u can scale up ad time goes on. Phone charging biz na power jam power. |

KA24DETT: ---
Actually, you are very correct. Most 10 kVA inverters (I have 10 running in my business) only output about 8 kW. Anything above that triggers the overload alarm from the inverter.
This is my experience running a solar-based power generation and distribution system in Nigeria over the past 22 months (2-year anniversary in March 2026). We have a 400 kW solar array and a 310 kWh battery bank (8 pieces of Felicity 17.5 kWh, 8 pieces of Valto 17.5 kWh batteries, and 2 pieces of Felicity 15 kWh batteries). Daily load requirement is 560 kWh (0.56 MW), Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
1. Nothing beats efficiency. If you have AC fans, sell them and buy DC fans. Use inverter ACs, LED bulbs, inverter fridges and freezers. Use induction cookers instead of electric hot plates. The more efficient you are, the less power your panels need to generate, especially during the rainy season.
2. You can’t really have too many panels. If you have the capital, buy more panels. Overpaneling pays off in the shoulder months — April, May, and October — when extra surface area captures diffuse light and stretches production. No one beats physics: the deep rainy season will always humble you. I have a diesel generator for rainy days since my loads are constant.
3. It’s cheaper to design on a 48V platform, if you are starting from a clean sheet. Smaller gauge wires and controllers can harvest more energy from your solar array.
4. Never buy lead-acid batteries. No matter how cheap or attractive the deal looks, buy LiFePO₄. If you have ₦300k, buy ₦300k worth of LiFePO₄ and upgrade later when you have more funds. It’s like traveling by horse versus driving a modern car — night and day. The BMS in LiFePO₄ is such a leap in technological advancement that it made lead-acid batteries obsolete. Yes, it’s everything and much better.
5. Hybrid inverters are very good, if you have the funds. Most hybrid inverters support 500 V Voc, allowing longer series strings and smaller gauge wires.
6. Turning off fridges and freezers at night reduces battery drain. Using frozen containers or bags of pure water inside helps retain cold and slows temperature rise while they’re off.
Solar is not a replacement for generators. It requires mental work, calculations, and most importantly, tempered expectations. Rainy season is brutal.
Valto has visited my site and has been very supportive of my business. His customer service has been excellent since my first battery purchase.
This reflects my company’s experience. Take it for what it is — n = 1. I went with LV instead of High voltage system, it was a business decision. The Jury is still out. sent a dm |
