HyDef:
So, I recently collected my last package from MetroBox sometime last week. I delivered 2 of the 5 items to Lagos without a hitch, and picked up the other 3 in Ibadan, rather easily.

However, this wasn't without its complications. As everyone says, one of the biggest issues I have transacting with him is communication. It is honestly very poor. He does give updates when he has to, but to reply or respond to questions or requests you have can take hours. This is my 4th transaction with him since my first transaction in April last year. Unfortunately, communication hasn't improved, in my opinion.

With my last transaction, one of the items I ordered was a new 20,000mAh powerbank. First of all, it came without a box. The cardboard insert that is meant to be inside the box came, but not the box itself. That wasn't even the biggest problem. The biggest problem was that I got a completely different powerbank from what I ordered. I got a 10,000mAh powerbank from the same brand, but clearly a different product. It was a completely different design.

I might have given him the benefit of the doubt with that, but on two occasions prior, I have noticed he ordered something different from the exact product listing that I sent him. The first was the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ that I ordered. If you go through my post history, you'll see my previous review here. The difference was minimal, because he simply bought a Canadian version instead of a US version. But I noticed that it was still a different listing from what I sent and he gave no explanation for why. I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S for my brother in one colour, yet the listing he purchased was different once again, and it was in another colour. I never mentioned anything because these were very minor. But I don't get why he can't explain the reason for buying another listing if there is a problem with the first one? I was able to notice this because he sent the purchase history to me and I could clearly see it was different from what I sent him.

This powerbank issue is much bigger than the previous experiences though. This is a completely different product than what I paid for. I messaged him about the issue since the 17th of February when I picked up the items. He messaged in the morning of the 18th and told me to send pictures, which I also did that same morning. He read the messages at night on the 19th. He hasn't replied since. Today is the 22nd. I'd think that knowing that a customer has a dispute or a major complaint should be something that is taken seriously. So you can see the issue regarding communication.

But anyway, I have resigned to my fate. I am not really looking for reparations regarding the powerbank. I have accepted it and will use it as it is. I'm only here to give an honest review of how it is transacting with MetroBox. I have no doubt that you will receive your items, but getting to that point is stressful due to the bad communication. And you should probably ask for the purchase history to make sure it is exactly what you sent that he ordered. I didn't do that for the last one, so I'm not sure whether the problem is from the seller or he ordered something different.

His rates are the most attractive, which is why I stuck with him through all this. But I think this will likely be my last transaction with him.

Adding this after he reached out this evening. The problem with the powerbank is truly from the seller's end as he has shown me the purchase history. However, I still expected a response as opposed to being left on read.
wahala no dey finish oh, I think I'm going use different shipping, I can't imagine going through all these trouble just to get an item that I paid for... sad

#EndSARS EXCLUSIVE: IG Adamu prepares to announce immediate scrapping of brutal police squad

Muhammed Adamu’s statement is currently being prepared and will be made public shortly, handing the Nigerian people a major victory.

Inspector-General Muhammed Adamu is set to announce immediate abolition of the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Peoples Gazette can report, handing the Nigerian people a major victory in their push to end decades of police brutality.

Mr. Adamu’s statement is currently being prepared and will be made public before the end of the day, the Gazette learnt from top police and presidency sources on Saturday morning.

The announcement was initially scheduled to be made on Friday after Mr. Adamu met with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, but was thwarted after presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said the administration should not surrender to Twitter warriors.

Mr. Adesina then proceeded to issue the highly-criticised statement that appeared to cast the president as insensitive to the #EndSARS campaign, which has gained worldwide backing over the past week.

Mr. Adamu has now finally been asked to “announce this afternoon as things are getting out of hand,” the Gazette learnt.

Mr. Adamu was also initially scheduled to meet with top civil society players in Abuja on Friday to make the announcement, which was preempted by Mr. Adesina’s interjection.

A top police source told the Gazette that President Buhari was finally convinced that the protest should not go into a new week because it is a decentralised movement with millions of young people with little experience in public agitation.

On Saturday, Jimoh Isiaq was killed in Ogbomoso after police officers opened fire on protesters. Many others were injured and remained in critical conditions as of Sunday morning.

Politics / Killings: Senate Orders Arrest, Prosecution Of SARS Operatives by Brosbeforehoes: 2:56pm On Oct 07, 2020
The Senate, on Wednesday, ordered the arrest and prosecution of operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad who were involved in the recent killings of innocent Nigerians across the country.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, stated this while ruling on the Senate resolution on a motion by Senator Oluremi Tinubu

Tinubu, in her motion, drew the attention of her colleagues to the recent extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses by SARS operatives.

Lawan said a mere dismissal of overzealous and reckless operatives was not enough but that they must be made to face the full wrath of the law.

He said, “Those who are involved in the recent killings of innocent Nigerians should be arrested and prosecuted.

“Scrapping the SARS now may not be the best option because the nation may lose the best hands in the agency while trying to do away with the bad eggs among them.

“The dismissal of the bad ones among them is not also enough. Offenders must be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.”

The red chamber also mandated its committee on Police, Judiciary and Human Rights to probe human rights abuses of Nigerians by SARS operatives in the last few years.

The chamber asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to establish a special unit that will constantly investigate and monitor the conduct of SARS operatives.

It also directed the authorities of the Nigerian Police Force to utilise part of its trust fund to trains its operatives.

Politics / Edo: APC Reveals Why Tribunal Will Sack Obaseki, Boasts Ahead Of Ondo Election by Brosbeforehoes: 8:15am On Sep 22, 2020
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has told the opposition political parties in the State that the forthcoming October 20 governorship election will not be the same as the last Saturday polls in Edo State.

The Ondo APC also said it was full of confidence that the election petition tribunal will sack Governor Godwin Obaseki and give APC victory in Edo State, because according to it, Saturday’s election was marred by rigging .

The APC said that anyone saying it would lose the October 10 governorship election in Ondo the same way it did in last Saturday’s polls in Edo should think again.

Alex Kalejaiye, the party’s Spokesman in the State pointed out that Ondo APC was united and that all stakeholders were working towards ensuring victory.

He further alleged that the victory of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, and Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo State was marred by electoral fraud that would be challenged at the tribunal.

According to him, “The APC in Edo State is full of hope that the denials at the election would be redressed in court.

“The Ondo State chapter is full of confidence that the good works of the Akeredolu led administration would speak in volumes during the election in October.”

“We are confident of victory, and the opposition parties are not unaware of the degree of popularity of the ruling party,” the party’s Spokesman said in a statement...

Politics / Wike Reacts Angrily, Wants Sars Scrapped After Killing Of Another Young Nigerian by Brosbeforehoes: 4:14pm On Sep 21, 2020
A mobile police officer attached to De Topic supermarket at the Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt has shot and killed a 20-year-old aspiring artist, Daniel Chibuike to death.

Chibuike, popularly known as Sleek was gunned down on Saturday around 4 pm after he and a friend were accosted by the operatives of the Special Ant-Robbery Squad, SARS.

The late singer and his friend, Reuben, however, took to their heels upon sighting the SARS operative, who in turn chased them and began screaming that they were thieves.

It was gathered that the duo ran towards the busy market in Elelenwo community before the MOPOL officer intercepted them and shot Chibuike thrice.

According to sources, the duo where coming out of Reuben’s house when the SARS operatives began chasing them.

The sources further revealed that the SARS operatives, all of a sudden, started screaming that the duo were thieves prompting the MOPOL officer to open fire on them.

The sources who craved anonymity said Sleek died due to the inability of the police officers to take him to the hospital despite pleadings from his friend, adding that they left him to blead to death in front of the supermaket.

It was gathered that the Ruben was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Deparment from the Miniokoro police station while the police officers involved were also detained by the state police command.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike has reacted angrily and called for the dissolution of SARS after the killing

Politics / Visa Ban: Don’t Disrespect Nigeria, FG Tells US, UK by Brosbeforehoes: 6:41am On Sep 19, 2020
The Federal Government has frowned on the statements issued by the United States and the United Kingdom on the governorship elections holding in Edo State on Saturday (today) and Ondo State on October 10.

It also expressed concern over the visa restrictions imposed by the US on unnamed politicians for alleged involvement in electoral violence during the Kogi and Bayelsa states governorship polls.

Both US and the UK had vowed sanctions on anyone who perpetrated violence during the Edo and Ondo elections, including imposing visa restrictions and blocking them from accessing their assets and prosecuting them under international law.

But reacting to the comments of its western allies on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement stated that it had taken note of their concerns regarding the elections in Edo and Ondo.

The government explained that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has continually urged all parties and contestants to peacefully conduct themselves before, during, and after the elections.

The statement signed by the MFA spokesman, Ferdinand Nwonye, added that Buhari also supported patriotic non-governmental initiatives such as the Abdusalami Abubakar Peace Committee.

Furthermore, it explained that there were ample provisions in the nation’s laws to sanction violators and perpetrators of electoral violence and fraud.

However, it admonished the UK and US to cooperate with the relevant agencies by providing them concrete evidence of observed misconduct “to allow our laws and regulations to take their course.”

The statement added, “It would be considered disrespectful of the sovereignty of Nigeria for any outside authority to sit in judgment over the conduct of our citizens and apply punitive measures such as visa restriction, unilaterally.”

The FG further highlighted that the responsibility for the conduct of elections in Nigeria solely resides with the Independent National Electoral Commission and State Independent Electoral Commissions.

“The Federal Government, and especially the President, is committed to providing all necessary logistic, financial, and security support to the electoral process.

“While we appreciate the support and encouragement of our international partners such as the European Union, we urge our equally valued partners such as the UK and US to cooperate with our relevant agencies by providing them whatever concrete evidence of observed misconduct to allow our laws and regulations to take their course,” the government stated.

Finally, the government expressed solidarity with the American government and people as regards their forthcoming election “which we hope will be free from interference and violence.”

Politics / Nigerians Attack Buhari Govt Over Registration Of ‘self-certification’ Forms by Brosbeforehoes: 8:13am On Sep 18, 2020
President Muhammadu government has come under attack over the compulsory registration of self-certification forms.

The Buhari-led government had on Thursday ordered that all Nigerians with account holders in any financial institution must obtain, complete and submit Self–Certification Forms.

The forms are required by the relevant financial institutions to do due diligence procedures in line with the Income Tax Regulations 2019.

The government announced that failure to adhere to this instruction will attract sanctions, which may include monetary penalty or inability to operate the account.

This development has led to criticisms from Nigerians on Twitter, accusing the government of always making life difficult for Nigerians.

Some Nigerians queried the importance of BVN and National ID card, if every account holder needs to fill out a self certification form in the midst of pandemic.

Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:

@AyoOyalowo “ BVN. National Driver’s license. National ID card. INEC registration. International Passport. Biometrics were taken in all these places. Why do you people like to see us suffer in queues for no reason? Can’t you take whatever data you need already? This is just so wrong.”

@Omojuwa “ Na you do National ID card, na you do SIM registration, you even did Bank Verification Number to align accounts but you are here again talking “Self-Certification. Even if you are confused about running government, can you at least pretend not to be confused?

@OfficialMrSeun “All the above mentioned have all our biometrics and facial recognition. What the heck is self certification?

@Ogbenidipo “ Small time they will ask us to go and bring the left finger of our dead grand mothers. Because after BVN, Drivers Licence, International Passport, Birth Certificate, SIM registration, National ID card, I don’t know what else they want.”

@Mccoyinnocent “ They will even ask us to submit our death certificates by ourselves.”

@OkusegunVerdict “ BVN. Driver’s license. National ID card. INEC registration. International passport. Biometrics were taken in all these places. So, what is the meaning of this?

@Victor_Terhemba “ This has got to be the most stupid government in the entire world. Why couldn’t the FG mandate the banks or FIRS to provide an online platform where customers can fill this form. And since we have BVN linked to all accounts, you don’t have to fill the form multiple times.”

@IamWakajeje “ Obtain, complete, and submit a SELF – CERTIFICATION FORM? So BVN registration looks like a third-party certification form to you guy? We are in 2020 for Christ sake, you guys should have senses.”

@DocTour “ Dear Government of Nigeria, for once in your 60 years of existence, have some sense. You wake up and just decide to make life difficult. Are you the only country in the world? Do you want to ruin your citizens? Why? You have no shame? Kind regards.”

@Islimfit “ Forward-thinking Nations are building digital solutions to solve various problems. But in 2020, our own government still wants us to go queue under the sun to fill and submit “self a certification” forms despite National ID, BVN, Voters Card etc. Suffer no dey taya you?
