IprintMONEY: what are school fees and other levies used for Lol. You think school fees can fund the institution for a whole year. You have any idea how many staffs are employed by the institution? By the way, not all of the school fees is allocated to the institution. Check the IGR of your state |
Education › Re: Why Exactly Are State Universities On ASUU Strike? by Brukx(m): 8:16am On Jan 18, 2019 |
writerights: I asked what benefit the state schools are getting. Is that too be a question to ask? The billions FG is to grant ASUU will ideally be shared among all its members that partake in the industrial strike. Ideally. |
Education › Re: Why Exactly Are State Universities On ASUU Strike? by Brukx(m): 6:20am On Jan 18, 2019 |
writerights: The question before us does not query the legitimacy of state universities, it's rather seeking to know how much state owned universities gain from these numerous, thunderous strikes and if it's worth it.
And again, how does ASUU national fight in the interest of these state schools when they are drowning in a pool of crisis? How has the national body helped LAUTECH, EKSU, OOU DELSU and others. ASUU is a body that umbrellas state and federal schools. why do you feel the outcome of the strike won't be of benefit to the state schools? |
Education › Re: Why Exactly Are State Universities On ASUU Strike? by Brukx(m): 5:55pm On Jan 17, 2019 |
writerights: You may have also noticed that ASUU’s demands over the past 10 years has always been about earned allowances, release of fund for the revitalization of ‘public universities’, release of operational license to Nigerian University Employees Pension Company and a few more. It then beats my imagination why lecturers of state varsities would leave the rot in their own institutions to fight for the liberation of the federal universities.
A baffling example is the crisis-ridden Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, which is now a shadow of its own self. One would thing such university, sitting comfortably at the middle of a huge financial crisis and which has wasted the youthful days of its students would sue for peace when all is done and dust. Instead, ASUU-LAUTECH, returning from a long, boring and not-too-yielding industrial action moved quickly in solidarism to join its national body in another unending wrangle that still has no end in sight. I doubt if even ASUU national body would have blamed ASUU-LAUTECH for opting out of the strike if it did. Thank Goodness angels ministered to these patriotic men and women, after about three years, they returned back to their line of duty last week, but would now be on strike only on Thursdays and Fridays.
I’ve wondered ceaselessly, why students of the better by far UNILORIN and Great Ife who have remained in school taking lectures and exams, rounding up a semester or session may later enjoy better infrastructures if ASUU struggle eventually pays off while 100L students of EKSU, OSU, ABSU and others would return back to their classrooms sitting on the ground to take lectures in the old, dilapidated structures on ground. Isn’t it unfair to these students that their state universities benefit next to nothing?
Many of these state owned university lecturers would return to the crisis ravaging their own schools after the strike and continue to manage it. On the other hand, federal schools continue to fix more air-conditioned systems, Wi-Fi, better libraries and cooler, siren environment while their students pay far less for just so much. Sad but true is many state owned schools don’t rely on government funds any longer including UNIOSUN, TASUED, OOU, etc. Could this then be blind solidarity?
It is indeed unfair for students of state owned universities to pay tuition as high as #150,000, almost the same amount their colleagues pay at Oduduwa and Redeemer’s university, only to be used as bargaining tools to fight for students of UNIBEN whose tuition is absolutely free and can only get better facilities. Therefore, why keep state university students at home?

Education › Re: The Best Universities (public And Private) In Nigeria For MBBS? by Brukx(m): 3:53pm On Jan 17, 2019 |
chukwukapromise: Good day boss.
I like the fact that you bolded two key words in your post.
Credible and Merit
Now on my own hypothesis, I believe that The order of credibility of MED school in Nigeria spans from:
Federal university-> State university->Private university.
Although they might be a slight variation in the above sequence as some state university are better equipped than some federal university, and same goes to private and state.
So if i can suggest for you(of which I cannot, but can only give you my view), I'll say u first pick A federal university as Your most preferred choice, then a state university as your preferred choice.
Now we've sorted out How to kill the Cow, it's now left for how to cook it.
There are many Federal university(Credible, Because if not credible, they wouldn't have been accredited) out there that offer MBBS as a course. So selecting one should boil down to what you want.
And since you haven't mentioned distance or school fees, but have specifically Stressed MERIT as your Preference then I'll say we take the next bus going to history lane.
The best way to know if a school admit students based on merit is to check their fossil record(No mind me, I mean previous records), and how are we going to do that, let's take and Buttress this criterion which is "Cut off mark".
Some schools do publicize their cut-off mark, others don't.. Have you asked yourself why?.. The one that do have a reason for doing such, why the ones that don't also have a reason for doing such..
I might not rarely know why such is such, but I can only infer that those who publicize their cut off mark does so for transparency, while the other don't want to be accountable for Any complaint.
So if you are looking for a school that would offer you admission based on MERIT, then Try going for schools that Publicize their Cut off mark, that way u would know where the fault cometh from.
So for schools that make public their cut off mark are predominantly schools in the west. Example but not limited to are: UI, Unilag, OAU, Lasu, UNN(East), et cetra. So do your maths based on their previous cut off mark and see if you are worthy to apply in such school.
NOTA BENE: The above mentioned schools are not just competitive, but are super competitive as such sector of the country can be substituted for a metropolis.
The above comment was Navigating according to your request on credibility and merit... But deep down me i would have suggest the unique university of Port Harcourt(uniport), for various reasons, as that(based on my judgement) is The only school in Nigeria that confirms To the qualifications of Cheap, Easy to enter, Good facilities, merit Admission, and above all UNIQUE in her own way...Boss @Donpre and @Brukx can confirm what am saying Confirmed truth |

Deckline: It is with a sad and heavy heart i'm typing this. This is my third JAMB attempt pursueing Law. I am not going to go into details but i don't know, maybe life is just unfair. Last year at AAU,Ekpoma ,i beat my school cut off mark but was denied admission maybe due to quota stystem so i was given philosophy which i declined. Please don't judge me. This year,i was 2 marks short Law cut off mark in Delsu. Please,i need your sincere advice on what to do. I am a delta indigene. ====== I feel that if AAU could be considerate in offering supplentary admission list without extra payment unlike Delsu,i am thinking of processing AAU next year. ===== Honestly,i am not happy with myself and sometimes i just feel like giving up because i just don't know what to do. I try as much as possible not to compare myself with my mates who are in school already, but i will be lying if i say the gossips don't get to me sometimes. Please house,i need your advice. I am a passionate 19 year old-Law aspirant. Please, what should i do?l!!! Where should I start? Do not be depressed my brother. Maybe fate is bending you to a different direction. There are many routes to the promise land. I will tell you exactly what I did last year and 4years ago, and it's same thing I told my friend about month ago which is about to work for her. 2013, I wrote Jamb, scored low. I applied UNIBEN medcine. But on seeing my score I switched to Delsu where I was given Med Biochemistry. I accepted the admission 2017 in my final year, wrote another Jamb. Applied for Medicine in Delsu. But somewhere along the line I missed Delsu 's post UTME. I randomly switched to Uniport where I was luckily admitted. I'm in 200lv now .the only difference between my 2013 and 2017 self is that I've grown beards . Just last month, a friend of mine who didn't do well in Uniport post UTME switched to Uniabuj after I advised her to do so. Now she has greater chances of getting admission. I don't know if it's too late but if you could search for an institution that would still accept candidates since u didn't apply for supplementary. Another expo, Delsu is about to run their pioneer JUPEB program. Since it's the first time, they might be generous with admission. Successful graduates of that problem will qualify for Direct entry. But the program would charge very exorbitant tuition |

There's a saying that age is just a number and it's not written on your head, so that I don't think that should bother you.
