PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Commissions Goodluck Boulevard In Uyo by brushparke(m): 8:14pm On Aug 17, 2014
millionaireman: The Boulevard in Uyo may be enjoyed by Akwaibomites of the next century. Perhaps 90% of Akwaibomites of this century may not have cars to enjoy a private drive on the boulevard. Vanity - priorities of some Nigerian leaders.
You really believe 90% of Akwa Ibomites don't have cars? This is the problem with living in Lagos all your life.
HealthEbola In Calabar: The Real Story by brushparke(op): 9:20am On Aug 09, 2014
Yesterday Morning the rumor of Ebola in Calabar caused a scare crow, and the source of the rumor is yet to be fished out. It has not been confirmed that Ebola is in Calabar, no patient has been diagnosed with the symptoms, so it will be unwise to spread a false rumor unless a medical practitioner who has medical proof to that effect says otherwise. The alarm must have erupted from the news that Late Sawyer was heading to Calabar for a conference, which is a true fact. He didn’t arrive Calabar, as a matter of fact his other collegues that successfully arrived Calabar where sent back immediately by Gov. Liyel Imoke.

http://uyocalyaxis.com/ebola-in-calabar-the-real-story/

This Ebola drama is not to be toyed with. It is amazing how people find pleasure in spreading news without gathering their facts first, and jeopardizing the confident level of other people in the process.

The Lady who started the Salt & Water Ebola Cure rumour yesterday morning finally came out to apologize on 9jaceleb.com, she never knew her little prank will shake the entire country like the way it did.

But unfortunately this false alarm has cost the life of two Nigerians and 30 others have been hospitalized in Jos for taking excess salt and bitter kola within the shortest time frame.

NOTE: Excess intake of salt increases blood pressure, using salt water to bath opens up the pores of the skin thereby making it prone to infections.
So does this salt theory stop or promote the Ebola Virus?
Nigerians are a set of funny people, we have a way of misinterpreting and making a fuse out of everything. Please If you hear any news about Ebola do well to verify its authenticity before spreading.

To know more about the Ebola virus, Please read and be informed on what you need to do to avoid infection:

Nairaland GeneralDay Gtbank, uyo Locked Out Customers And Made Them Beg by brushparke(op): 4:59am On Jan 03, 2014
Yesterday was an unusual seen in Uyo when customer service relations was at its lowest ebb at the only branch of GTbank PLC in uyo. Even though GTBank has established its self as a major bank in the country, they do not appear to consider their customers in Akwa Ibom as worthy for proper treatment if the event of yesterday January 2, 2013 was anything to go by.

Read more: http://uyocalyaxis.com/day-gtbankuyo-locked-out-customers-and-made-them-beg/#

Before i proceed, i want to state here that i am well aware that a bank can choose to close it banking hall for business at 12 noon if it so desire as that is probably within its right and purview. And bank policies are basically the prerogative of the said bank. However, i also believe whatever policy a bank implements should be at the best interest of the customers.

This is a point that should not be over emphasized.

GTBank PLC, Uyo suddenly decided to close its banking hall to business by 3.30pm without any prior notification of the general public or its customers. Many of the customers I spoke with were angry at the bank's attitude for not considering that fact that a working individual will usually try to catch up with banking services just before 4pm.

http://uyocalyaxis.com/day-gtbankuyo-locked-out-customers-and-made-them-beg/

Another was mostly annoyed at not being informed prior to now especially as he had to come from Ikot Ekpene only to meet a notice on the Bank's door which another customer claimed was not there in the morning when he first came to the bank.

Many customers refused to leave hoping that if they persisted, the doors will eventually be opened for them to enter. Well it never happened.

My question is, if Akwa Ibom is so insignificant to the bank, so much that, apart from having just one branch in the entire state, it has now reduced banking hours by 30 minutes to the dismay of customers, wouldn’t it be better they make a complete exit?

Nairaland GeneralRe: The Keke Marwa Menace In Uyo And Why Government Should Consider Taking Them Off by brushparke(op): 8:43am On Nov 21, 2013
Even the rowdy sight of them on our roads, make Uyo look like some peasant farming community in Vietnam as you can see in the photo.

This government has what it takes, and in the past has shown great insight and willingness to make life better for Akwa Ibomites. Let’s move from this chaos to some decency. Taxis or Buses will do better and are safer. If need be, we can adopt the Bus-Rapid-transit. My 2 cents.

Nairaland GeneralRe: The Keke Marwa Menace In Uyo And Why Government Should Consider Taking Them Off by brushparke(op): 8:42am On Nov 21, 2013
Keke’ is the Yoruba word for bicycle. This was a new one to Lagosians and unlike the regular bicycle and motor bike, it had three tires. In order to distinguish them, they called it ‘keke Marwa’ i.e. Marwa’s Bicycle. Gen. Buba Marwa ensured they never plied the highways and never carried more than three. The front can only carry the rider and so they were not allowed to carry any passenger in front.

Well, all these have since been violated and it has also become a menace just like its predecessor. The menace has spread to the length and breadth of Nigeria and has landed here in Akwa Ibom.

In Akwa Ibom, it is called simply Kękę instead of Kėkė.

The uncommon transformation of the state governor is the major victim or the invasion, as despite the efforts put in place to make the roads better and safer, with keke riders as the major violators of road traffic regulations, the roads remain as unsafe as ever. One day I had to take out time to find out from one of them, why no keke rider ever bordered to look at the side mirrors.

It seems to me they haven’t been told the side mirrors were meant to be used. They are all oblivious of its existence while on the roads as they swerve from right to left at will without considering there could be a vehicle coming from behind.

Nairaland GeneralThe Keke Marwa Menace In Uyo And Why Government Should Consider Taking Them Off by brushparke(op): 8:40am On Nov 21, 2013
Before now, we had the menace of Okada riders and Nigerians, so many of them lost lives, limbs to the recklessness of these riders. It is common knowledge that there was no official preparatory process for them and so everyone who needed a way of making ends meet that could afford to buy a Motorcycle, sets out without the rudimentary knowledge of using the road.
All they needed to do was learn how to manipulate the machine and off they went. They ride like they own the roads, like no one else plies the road at all times and bump into anyone whether he/she has the right of way was never an issue.

Then the government probably to follow the trend in the country at that time, decided to place a ban on the use of Motor bikes only to replace them with tricycles.

Tricycles first became a means of commercial transportation in Nigeria when it was introduced by the then military governor or Lagos state, Gen. Buba Marwa to operate within back-streets and carry only three passengers on very short trips.

CareerRe: Are Online Professional Courses Recognised By Prospective Employers? by brushparke(m): 9:07pm On Apr 28, 2013
CrazyMan: Truth is most potential employers in Nigeria don't accept online degree, and if you're presenting it to boost your already acquired regular degree (B.sc, Hnd..etc) it would in no way serve as an added advantage to you on employment basis.

Reasons why your online degree would be greeted with an austere approach include.

1. Lack of rigor.

2. Lack of face-to-face interactions with your lecturers.

3. Increased potential for academic dishonesty.

4. concerns about online students’ true commitment evident from regularly venturing to a university physical location, considered by some to be an important part of the educational experience.

5. Problems of tests and exams being too easy thereby reducing your learning capability and making you less challenged.

On the other hand, since you're planing to do it in the united states, you should focus more on the conditions that could influence your hiring process in the united states...they include.

1. Name recognition/reputation of the degree-granting institution.

2. Appropriate level and type of accreditation.

3. Candidates relevant work experiences.
It is b ecause of people like you that i advise that no one who has serious matter should come to nairaland for solution. imagine your ignorance. If you have ever taken a us based or uk-based online university degree, especially at the masters level, you will no that no Nigerian University can compare in terms of quality of education you get. Even university lecturers in many of the first generation institutions in Nigeria are falling over themselves to take these online courses.
You think they are all very stupid to be spending between the range of N3m-N5m for a degree that is 'useless'.
My advice, even though it is expected from one who agrees to be a CrazyMan, never comment on something you have no idea of, you'll only let your ignorance dance in front of you like a masquerade.

I have a friend who thought he could combine an online masters degree and residency program, but he's finding out the truth. The standard of these online degrees are as good as that taken by on-campus student. So learn!

PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Developments in Akwa Ibom State (uncommon Transformation) by brushparke(m): 7:35am On Jan 06, 2013
ballabriggs: We are comparing because they are not doing enough to help reduce the surge in Lagos' population. Lagos has its projects but it is overwhelmed by the fast rising population. It has worked on over 5000 classroom blocks but it still has many more to do. And please spare us that tale of neglect. Ever since the Capital has been moved to Abuja in the early 1990s, Lagos has received very little attention from the center.

Why then should we not compare?
While you guys are still green with envy let me just make matters worse for you all.
Akwa Ibom will never sack over 700 doctors. For your information, Akwa Ibom state pays its doctors far more than even the Federal Government.
If you doubt, which i know you will (because you are brainwashed to), take a trip to any hospital in Akwa
Ibom and ask the first doctor you meet.

HealthRe: Lagos Doctors Suspend Strike by brushparke(m): 2:01pm On Mar 28, 2011
Selfishness is the bane of Nigerians and it is what is keeping us where we are. Naturally everybody is jealous of doctors even from school. So they are used to being victimized. However, you can not blame them for having an IQ that reads a few marks above the average dude. But what i don't understand is that, if it is that easy, the teachers who taught the doctors, should have become doctors themselves.

But that is not the reason why i am here, not to join issues with people who still reason like we are in the 15th century.
Have you ever wondered why the ratio of doctors to patient in Nigeria is still 1 doctor to 20,000 patient? We Nigerians are so foolish that we allow politicians appeal to our sentiments and in the process become jaundiced to the real issues and sing the illogical song orchestrated by hatred and jealousy.

The reason is simple, it is not because Nigeria is not producing enough doctors, but because they have all left. Nobody unfortunately, seem to think there is something wrong with the fact that Nigerian doctors are the worst paid in the world, and that even Jamaican doctors earn far higher, not to talk about other little African countries like Botswana and Angola. They all pay at least 3 times what Nigerian doctors earn. I feel sorry for the ordinary Nigerian, because if Fashola falls sick today, he will be flown to the UK, US and even India, so it doesn't matter to him how long this doctors go on strike for. But most Nigerians can not even afford the substandard services of private hospitals here, not to talk about being flown abroad.
I think it is high time the Nigerian Public grew wiser and demand the same quality of services our leaders fly abroad to get. In this whole game, the public lose out, because, the doctors too can afford to take care of themselves if they fall sick. So Nigerians should stop being foolish and call the government to order.

Otherwise, more doctors will travel out of the country, and even after the strike, there will be fewer doctors left. And while some countries have achieved 1 doctor to 500 patient ration, we will be getting worse on it.
