HealthRe: Lets Talk About Diabetes by brushparke(m): 5:16pm On Feb 03, 2006
Posh,
Thank you very much for your post.
you maybe right but you are not correct.
It is true that diabetes mellitus can occur due to these things you have mentioned.
But you seem to stress so much on lack of insulin due to mutation. Do you know that
DM can occur even in the presence of adequate amount of insulin? In order words
DM can occur in the presence of normal functioning of the gene that codes for insulin.
In order not to confuse readers, a simple definition of diabetes mellitus will
take care of this misunderstanding.
Diabetes mellitus is defined as a clinical condition in which there is persistent
increase in blood sugar levels due to absolute or relative absence of insulin.
Now take note of the words, "absolute" and "relative".
In absolute absence of insulin, there is no insulin at all or too little insulin like
you have said. But in relative insulin absence, the patient actually has insulin
but, there is insensitivity of the cells to insulin. This one is called Type 2 diabetes mellitus
and is common in the elderly and obesed people. So you can see why people say it
affects the rich.Type too diabetes mellitus is common in the rich because they are
the ones who are more likely to become obese.Poor men don't become obese.
Type 1 can occur in children of the poor or rich. This one is known as juvernile onset
diabetes mellitus.Because it is due to absulute absence of insulin. That is why
treatment is based on use of Human insulin.Whereas, in type too, because the problem is not
lack of insulin, oral hypogyceamic drugs are given. This drugs help to enhance the
action of insulin by making the cells a bit sensitive to insulin.
So the people who said Dm occurs in the well-to-do were not wrong. The truth is that
because they have so much money, they can afford to eat form Mr.biggs, tantalizers
sweetsensation etc.And we all know that these people sell foods with very high cholesterol contents.
So any body who feeds on these often is likely to become obese and prediposed to
Diabete Mellitus Type 2.

Web MarketRe: How To Advertise Your Website Without Spamming? by brushparke(m): 4:36pm On Feb 03, 2006
Well if you are not in a hurry for attention, getting your site noticed is not too difficult.
The truth is i have been able to generate quite an encouraging traffic to my knew site
www.hostportfolio.com through search engines. Not just vistors. I am actually selling.
Apart from pay per click advertising,
which is capital intensive, i think search engines are where you should concentrate
your efforts. The fact still remains that 70%-80% of website traffic come from search
engines. So to get enough attention, start while designing your site. That is, make your site
search engine friendly.
I have done this to my knew site and i am not regreting. The site is just about 2 months old.
It took about 3 weeks for it to become indexed in The major search engines and i am even suprised
at the number of unique visits it receives daily.Soon i'll redesign all my sites to be search engine
friendly.
You can also get targeted traffic from forums like www.nairaland.com.But here
you have to be careful and must not go against the rules of the forum.Let your contributions
be well researched and soon you'll add reputation to marketting.
Then newspaper adverts in your niche area is also very efficient. But these are more expensive
options.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: What Screen Resolution Should One Target? by brushparke(m): 8:18pm On Jan 21, 2006
i think it is cooler to use the standard resolution of 800/600.But it does not appear
moderate on all browsers. So i now prefer to make the page moderate and centrally placed
.say 800/500-550.I think this appears better and looks simple even if you are developing
a complex site.
However, guy, i think you'll do better with CSS.It more flexible.
ProgrammingRe: Dreamweaver vs FrontPage by brushparke(m): 8:44pm On Jan 14, 2006
Frontpage is excellent development tool. But there are a couple of limitations that can make web development really annoying.
Not until i realised frontpage has some problem with php. Frontpage can really frustrate your development
efforts when it comes to php.For every other work, i think it;s good.
So for me , i still use both.

Technology MarketRe: WhoGoBuy.com: Website Where Nigerians Can Buy and Sell by brushparke(m): 1:59pm On Dec 29, 2005
Actually i think whogobuy is trying. That is exactly what we need from more Nigerians.Since Nigerians are suffering Cyber racism, let's look inwards and see what we can do for our selves. For example if we can grow interswitch together, soon mastercard and the rest will be begging to incoporate it into their systems. They don't know the size of the market there are missing by ostracising Nigerians in everything on the net all in the name of 419.You can never finish running, you either take the risk or become a frog. This is what the international community don't know. The only way we can turn things arround is to make ourselves relevant.Soon they will be begging for attention.
Ride on whogobuy!

@brushparke OMG so you guy are among the people who dirty out jobs, au can u come out to charge 25,000.. angry

wtf... man im not enjoying this at all. by the way can i see any of your portfolios (if not all, because i need to know your level of professionalism tongue)
dejiolowe:
The truth is the average customer doesn't know what he wants and doesn't want to pay good money for good quality work. That is one of the reasons why we don't have too many good sites in Nigeria.

Also, most of the 'web designers' are half bakes or unbaked (or some rats just ate the best part of them grin) and so they produce very dirty jobs. Of course, they are priced dirt cheap. I can't imagine that people still use fireworks/imageready to slice images for web. they don't know web standards, accessibility, css, AJAX, ét al. These dudes still use tables for layouts.

I mean, what do you expect for 25,000? Hosting, unlimited emails. duh!!!

Plain and simple. Good and professional websites are expensive. Good and reliable hosting is never too affordable. What about after sales support? Are they going to be there when you need them most?

What about application support? Ruby on rails, Miva Merchant, .NET 2.0? All these guys provide only dumbed PHP, Perl and some classic ASP. What about content management system? What about content? If you see what a lot of these guys write on their website, you will weep for their grand mothers...

And some of them do ahead to develop websites for 419s. Thank God, there is always a way to track and CATCH them (that is if I can)....
This is really interesting. What is the offence in designing a promotional programme just to get more nigerians on the web? I have come to realise that so many nigerians who have very beautiful concept to sell on the web have all been discouraged by greedy web designers who due to job draught because of their poor marketting
, usually want to squeeze their customers dry.
i myself haven developed over twelve sites for customers , only resently dveloped my own site early this year. Why this? I was working hard to make my site look like yahoo.com forgetting that i am just a starter.Untill i realised that no matter how well and how much time you spend designing a site, you will still need to upgrade or make some changes sooner than later. so i decided that i was going to get my site onlline .Today i'm happier for it because today i already have three money making sites running with a fourth comming soon.
Now how many nigerians can afford the kind of money you charge for web sites knowing that majority of those who attend money making seminars across the country do not make up to N300,000.00 per annum.i was baffled to hear someone demanding N450,000 for a simple portal.Have we ever wondered how india became the prefered destination for outsourcing amongst Americans and Europeans?Do yo know that with just $500, you can get the kind of portal you have never seen in Nigeria from these indians?
Well These are issues we Nigerians should ponder about.Let's stop discouraging potential enterpreneurs as if web development is Brain surgery.
Rather than condem, let's get the best out of this forum by learning from one anothers experiences.Besides N25,000 + Hosting is our lowest rate for a basic website.
Every organisation has Service secrets, and jokers which is cardinal to their survival.Timmy if u want to prove me wrong, try me. Eat competition.Don't be scared of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,
i wonder why my name should cause so much hulabalo.Well, thanks if you like
it but if u don't, time will help u because you can even get used to shit
when you see it often.

Now to the issue! If what we want from our music arts is perfection
then we have a second think comming.I think we should learn to appreciate
efforts especially when it's against all odds.
For instance we slammed a ban on Femi's bang bang, slammed another on zulezu. We looked
at weird Mc's cartoon video and said "piss off!".But we all know what these people have achieved,
all outside the shores of Nigeria.
Genievieve already is adored all over africa and is more popular than even the Academy Award winner
from South Africa.Today she's the most popular actress in africa.
These ofcourse does not make her a good singer. But if she had achieved all these by being herself, she
definately is going to do same by continuing that way.Just because she did
not do it like you expected dosen't mean she's bad.
i bet if you decide to have a stint at acting.........hmmmm.i reserve my comments .
well Gina dear, if dem wan kill u because u like brushparke and Genievieve's No More, just refer them to me......em lexyflexy are u reading?

Thanks balogun,
But I personally think that there is no quuestion of not being ready for
telemedicine.Nigeria beign a third world country should benefit from it more than
the so called technologically advanced countries. How do i know this?
The essence of telemedicine is to provide specialist medical care where there is no specialist
.In essence,Large sums of money spent by The government on it's officials' regular visits abroad
can be reduced to a minimum.Moreso, Nigeria is a country still agonizing from the effect of brain drain
.i believe that with telemedicine, it's over 6,000 doctors in diaspora can be of immense benefit to the system
back home.
They could also be a multiplier effect to the extent that ,rather than fresh medical graduates leaving the country for better jobs
abroad they can stay back and yet still work for foreign hospitals right here from home. This can help stem the effect of brain drain.
These however is why i think that there should be attempts towards it's introduction in Nigeria. The state of eectricity not withstanding.

For example 15gigs for just N20,000 is what i call ideal.See quote from the site...........
www.asorockhost.com/webhosting.htm
"Aso Rock Host has now lunched a win win reseller program aimed at helping you multiply your income. The web hosting industry grows daily as hundreds of thousand new businesses go online. With a very little investment, you can tap into this multimillion dollar venture.

How It Works: You can choose from any of the two packages on offer depending on which one suits your marketing strategy. Thus your profits can not be immediately estimated as you can make as much as thrice your initial investment.

Pay Twice Advantage: To further make your going into business easy, we allow payment on two installments for any purchase up to N58,000 by immediately setting you up on payment of 90% of the amount payable while you are allowed to pay the balance 90 days from the day of initial set-up"
