Politics › Re: HMM! Massive Corruption Going On Under Jonathan, Okonjo-iweala’s Watch – Amaechi by Bugatie(m): 4:17pm On Oct 25, 2014 |
LilPeezy: Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has accused the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government of massive corruption. Amaechi spoke yesterday ahead of Saturday’s mega rally at the new Adokiye Amaesiamaka Stadium at Igwurutali. According to him, no line of difference exists between funds meant for the public and those for private pockets. Amaechi said Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, recently claimed that the country is not broke while state governments are being owed their allocations. He said: “How else can you know if you are broke when you cannot meet your financial obligations? The governors are saying if you are not broke as you claim, why not pay us our money. “They have not been able to separate between money for private pocket and the Nigerian pocket. “Perhaps because Okonjo-Iweala is an economist, she knows the best term to use to describe the terrible situation the country has found itself to the extent it cannot fund its projects.” The rally is expected to attract over 60,000 people to mark the seven-year anniversary of the Supreme Court judgment that installed him as governor in 2007. Amaechi will at the event give a report of his stewardship for the past seven years in office. Dignitaries expected include General Muhammdu Buhari, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rochas Okorocha, Sam Nda-Isaiah, prominent APC chieftains among many others. The rants of a man who has ran out of ideas! |

ratiken: Am surprised people still listen to Amaech. He is just an uncouth and irresponsible mad man who found himself in the corridors of power.
He has just reduced himself to a political nonentity that neither PDP nor APC would want to have him at the fore front of their party. What becomes of him post 2015? Listen to him talk and you'll see a man who's inwardly afraid thus, unnecessary jibes on a man who doesn't know he exists! |

He is talking sense. If Jonathan isn't sitting on their allocation, he would have been mentioned less. Besides, he is in an opposition party. Part of his duties is to criticise the useless govt at the center. It's in order. All I am seeing is an unpaid advert for Jonathan! |

Can anyone summarise or just say one thing Amaechi said during his own presentation at the rally? Nothing! He was so obsessed with his hatred for Mr President in all his remarks that he even forgot to acknowledge his guests. Jonathan bla bla bla.... even Buhari had to cover his face. Any same man will expect the governor to display more decorum in a gathering like this, but hell no, not for an Amaechi |

Demdem: I don't need to. I am based in Ph. It's true that his first tenure supercedes the second so far but a lot of reasons can be given for this chief among which is the reduction in revenue for years now. Besides, unfortunately this is the norm for second term governors. Even in akwa ibom, Akpabio has stopped working despite still being given the largest allocations. The reasons u gave for not liking amaechi to me is trivial considering what he has done for rivers. Take it or leave it, he remains the best governor this state have ever seen in recent times. One of the core reason why he seems to have lost support from many of his ikwerre folks is for stopping them from various extortion that port Harcourt was noted for before he became governor. To them, their core source of income from illegally extorting citizens of their money during property development is taken away. Thelse are the core people desiring and supporting wike. God forbid Port Harcourt going back to Egypt. Amaechi is no saints, he surely has one or two issues however his being governor is a blessing for Rivers. Spare a minute and listen to Amaechi on Channels TV now and see how much he has lost focus...said nothing but Jonathan this and PDP that |

Caseless: 'we heard the minister of education saying on radio that " he shedded tears" , we all know there is no such word' - Ameachi(2014). My govnor, say it as it is, we are behind you. Let me get it, a whole governor tunes radio to listen to a minister of state for Education, then picks his statement(wrongly used) and makes it part of his presentation at a school graduation ceremony. He then brings in PEJ and how they fell apart for not sharing state resources. From there, he starts complaining how a contractor he paid to do a state road embezzled the fund without executing the contract. How petty can a state governor get? |

Now this is also a part of sustainable development. Who knows why they actually fell apart? It'll be most probable to say that he left them scot-free. If you can dig# No doubt, but you need to remove that part of him being principled! He gave out that money as settlement to the politician/contractor when the going was good, otherwise, why will a governor be sounding so helpless and complaining to the masses? |
Politics › Re: Amaechi: I Fell Out With PEJ Cos I Refused To Share Rivers Money With Her by Bugatie(op): 7:03am On Oct 25, 2014 |
lokito: Nigeria needs people like Amaechi as Governors. A man who is so principled that no riff-raff can just trample on. A strong man who mans-up to his responsibilities and kills every other option whenever a rational decision is made. Yes, with such a man corruption, looting and illiteracy will be curbed. This is my own opinion. In your own words, "he's so principled" and he doles out funds for contract and the contractor embezzles the money yet no arrest or prosecution till date. Why's he saying it and what does he expect the masses to do if he cannot use the instrument of the law at his disposal to bring the contractor to justice? .....Hypocrisy |
