Even me I still feel foolish for not making smarter decisions I should have made earlier if I knew all I know today.

The best time to even take steps is when there’s no pressure or issue at all with your current status so you can have a clearer mind to strategise. Once you’re under pressure like have just few months left on your visa then the tide is already against you.

Anyone on healthcare visa already have experience and skills in demand in Australia, Canada or New Zealand and these countries keep adjusting their immigration policies to attract ready made labour from the uk. All the time folks are using to sign petitions here or attend meetings to protest new policies can be deployed to explore these countries and even age limits barriers are being removed depending on locations so what’s the fixation on the uk about? Some say it’s distance, moving families and all sorts of excuses I don’t understand that compared to the risk of losing status or being denied or delayed ilr at the end, does it worth it? Your full uk driving licence already makes you drive ready in Canada or Australia so me I don’t even understand sef! But what do I know but to siddon look!
Please can you share any hints on how to transfer these skills to Austrialia or NZ for work visas or PR?

we shall see about that

Any word about when it will all be implemented? Me thinks by the end of Feb, everything will be set in stone. Full implementation, maybe April
My thoughts too

My concern with all these proposals is the use of RQF 6 and below as a criteria. They are people sponsored in HC roles below degree level but earning within 30-45k. Like those working in complex care, acute mental health, senior support workers, emergency services etc. Most people working 3 to 4 shifts a week on these roles average over 30k.
Also, If the government is to peg the earned model on household income, some families could have over 80k.
Meanwhile @zahra what's the fate of MSc students who switched to HC roles. Does the government hope to keep them within such roles knowing that majority could get other roles that align to thiet skills but for sponsorship requirement.

Keys Alert!!!

We collected our keys fews weeks back. Still feels like a dream - semi new built, 9 years old property, Northwest England 😊😊😊

I want to specially thank @lexus for all encouragements these past few years, from advise on family, stocks investment and property.

Giving a stranger you met here direct access to you and taking your time to always pick my phone calls and wahala😁😁😁😁

We are young immigrants and being here 3 years 5 months (from student to work visa)

We used moneybox LISA and got interest of over 7k which boosted our deposit to 16 percent.

As my oga Lexus always say, the money from shift work does not smell shit.

Whatever your story here is, just be encouraged and keep pushing

In the midst of these immigration brouhaha, ensure you live your best possible life and enjoy every moment.

Take risk, make investments and congratulations to you for making that decision to buy that property anyway 😁👏👏👍💪

NB: I remember my oga lexus posting something like this last year, I subscribed to 3 investment platforms he shared, I sold one out of panic 😁😁😁(Blackrock, lost some money during the Trump market crash) and kept two. This one not doing so bad 😀😀😀

Co-asking this question. I have always wondered if arranged overdraft usage affects anything in the mortgage process?

NewT123:
Hi guys.

Will an arranged overdraft of about £2000 affect a person mortgage application?
TravelRe: Living In The UK: Property,Mortgage And Related by Bukad(m):
Hallelujah!!!

Just noticed you posted this journey in February.

I will also testify here and claim it by faith.

Let this be my bookmark😁😁😁

Congratulations once more 🤗👏👊

May your stay be peaceful and enjoyable

babajeje123:
Yippee...it's testimony time and a very long one it is.
The whole journey started in August and we had December as our move-in date.
Contract exchanged yesterday, completion was today, going for keys tomorrow. Let somebody shout hallelujah grin grin

Yup!. As long as you are married and one of you has a house/home, you are considered as one. Confirm with your solicitor

Heck, if you had a house in Nigeria or anywhere in the world before coming here you are not FTB
Please can elders clarify on the bolded. So assuming one has a building with tenants in Nigeria and have a LISA account , AIP, and booking viewings here already you can't be seen as FTBhuh

There is something called skilled worker visa going rate

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-going-rates-for-eligible-occupations/skilled-worker-visa-going-rates-for-eligible-occupation-codes
Additionally, I think there's also a new entrant rate which is 70% of the standard going rate.

Students qualify on graduation, but it expires after four years.

Perhaps you could do more research and share with those concerned.

Zahra29:
It's a calculated risk decision they have to make.

If the current care dependant restrictions are still in force in 2027, then they would need to find a care/support worker role in the NHS or similar that allows dependants.
Many thanks for this breakdown.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 11:39pm On May 29, 2024
Zahra29:
You're very welcome.

Correct, so after 2027 the idea is that they are no longer a new entrant and would be expected to have sufficient experience to qualify for the standard going rate or 38,700 salary (whichever is higher) for a skilled worker visa. Alternatively they have the option to switch back to a health and care visa.
So if they have dependents what happens to them after 2027 assuming they can't secure role of 38k 🤔
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 11:27pm On May 29, 2024
Zahra29:
Yes they can still qualify for the new entrant route if they graduated in the last 4 years.

Note that the new entrant visa is for a maximum of 4 years from the point of graduation, so the visa will only be allocated for the period left of the 4 years if that makes sense.
Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for this.

So for example, the person graduated from MSc say September 2023, even if on H and C visa before graduation, they can only use the new entrant route for any other skilled worker visa till September 2027.

But what happens after 2027, would they have to leave the job and look for another with 38k pay or be paid the going rate?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 5:10pm On May 29, 2024
Zahra29:
As they are switching into the skilled visa route, the new salary rules would apply.

However the project support role meets the salary requirements under the new entrant route. Are they a recent graduate (in the last 4 years) or under 26 for example?
What if they did MSc but switched visas to Health and Care before finishing the studies and still graduated and above 26 years?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 3:01pm On May 29, 2024
Zahra29:
Hi Bukad,

For someone who isn't already on a skilled visa or isn't applying on the new entrant route, the eligible salary has to be the higher of the standard going rate or £38,700.
Thanks for the breakdown @Zahra29.

Please how does this affect someone on Health and Care Visa who gets say a Project support officer Civil service role of say 30,900 pay.

Which rule apply??

If the person is a fresh graduate it may be possible from what i gathered. but different civil service jobs hv their different pay grades
@Zahra49, can you please shed more light on this
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 10:19am On May 29, 2024
Paxziano:
No. The role is EO. Still applying for H.E.O roles though. Hope something comes through though a friend told me that they usually take H.E.O from internal staff more than from external.
I actually thought EO roles can still be sponsored based on the new guildline with salary of 30,960 for going rate.

See extract from table.

Theory 4 in 1

It cost less than £5

1. Attempt to answer all practice revision questions in bits of 20s or 30s while using the favourites, flag and more information tabs. It's about 774 questions in total.

2. Then attempt the mock test consistently till you sore 48 to 50 at each trial.

3. Practice the hazard perception test.

Best of Luck!!!

But those on SWV can bring or remain with dependants?
YES they can as previous conditions on dependents of SWV holders were not altered nor addressed by this new changes.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Bukad(m): 3:56pm On Dec 22, 2023
I don't think those on skilled worker visas were affected as the first publication only focused on care workers and senior care workers.

However, the salary threshold of those already on SWV will increase but only gradually I guess.

BTW i have been a silent reader for 15 years on NL. When NL was down. I almost craze, like I lost my first wife grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy shocked shocked

Now, I hope to be more active grin grin grin

The way some people on this thread belittle others working in the healthcare profession is not just wrong but also condescending. To some, it is believed that healthcare assistant is all about packing sh!t. Thats myopic. Lol. The healthcare industry is very broad and has high earning potentials. As a mental health support worker, you can earn as much as £25 per hour with minimal experience on the job. More experienced workers earn up to £40 per hour and above by just sitting down all day or night taking records or making sure things are done properly in the facility. Complex care support for children with learning difficulties pays very high even more than many office workers. Its an industry that offers huge potentials and opportunity to grow with readily available hands on training provided by most employers.

Let's erode that mindset that all healthcare workers are at the bottom of the career food chain (salary wise) when in reality many earn far more than workers in other industry. A friend of mine who studied mechanical engineering both in his undergraduate and UK masters level made a lot of money in complex health care and has started his own care company. Today he is an employer of labor and a director after undergoing several training.

You don't need to make yourself feel highly by bringing others down. For healthcare assistants, while you are motivated to grow your career within or outside the care profession, do not let anyone make you look down on your hustle. You can make good money in this profession without doing personal care with the little experience you can gather. And if you choose to get other professional jobs in line with your academic qualifications, great! Care Experience can be useful for jobs roles in customer support, human relations, because you are able to manage emotions of people with varying degree of temperament and mental stability.

May God bless everyone with a legit hustle. Amen
I agree with the bolded, know people with personal testimonies who worked within one year and have achieved financial goals, while gradually pursuing other professional development because the complex care job isn't as stressful as other areas of care but just more technical.

Work is work. May God bless every legit hustle.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by Bukad(m): 1:49pm On Apr 28, 2022
The earliest you can apply is three(3) months before your course start date. From UKVI website.

Please can someone do Biometric around 18th of next month (May) for September intake? Have got my POF running which I intend to use for May intake but my deposit payment was delayed from the bank and the school suggest i moved my admission to September cause I wont be able to meet up again for May but My CAS will be for September. So am worried if I could do my biometric around 18th to 20 of next month. Cause have been thinking the embassy might think its too early. Just thinking cause additional cost of POF

I think it's a general issue and visa issuance may take up to 6 weeks from information am getting. Though the best bet is sending paid mail or making paid call.

Please we are in the same ship ooo, I've been crazily worried, I did mine since 8th of April, no NSF mail, no update, nothing and I'm very scared cos I've seen a case where they later told someone that they send an email requesting for a document but the person didn't get the email and this lead to Visa refusal.
