I paid all my fees using my Nigerian debit cards. Actually, I run 3 different accounts from 3 different banks.
Most banks now provide mastercards and visa cards that can be used for online transactions.
The limit daily is 1million naira or the equivalent in foreign currency.

awistle: John Lester i know u share the toilet and bathroom and the bed is quite small, if u are patient enough, u will see accommodation off campus that have better facilities inclusive of utilities with ur budget, but its ur choice tho. But i personally wont advice John Lester for someone paying that amount.

The £304 quoted is actually for a 6 room flat at Castle Irwell. The least accommodation cost for John Lester Court averages around £350.
I have offers for both but still trying to make up my mind.
However, if u suggest I can get a decent private en suite apartment with all utilities inclusive and access to free bus ride as I will be taking lectures at the MediacityUk then by all means I will rather wait till I get to Salford.
Please what should be my average budget for feeding and other expenses weekly? As someone who is already settled there you may have an informed idea how much a fairly average spender like me should be budgeting for a week.
Finally, the job situation. Is there hope for part time job? Though not compulsory for me but a little extra change won't hurt. Although my course involves the option of a 6 months work placement or 3 months internship in an organisation I still don't knw if it will be a paid work placement since it is geared towards completing my masters degree.

keji11: ok,the account u run with ur ATM card is it domicilary acct or Naira account for u to be able to pay for ur tuition online?

I used my naira account. Actually, any will be fine. As long as the card can be used for such transactions.
I gave them my uba mastercard info but they couldn't charge it. I then gave my stanbic ibtc mastercard info and it went without stress.
Again I made further payments with my zenithbank card and it was successful. All naira accounts.
The uba probably didn't go through cause it was my very first transaction on the card and I was told by uba customer care that I need to first register it on mastercard secure before it can be used for internet/online payments.
Not too such about her explanation though coz I used same card to purchase an app frm google play and it was successful.

Don Oms: Isn't that before the website update? Or perhaps it's a case of "different strokes for different VACs"

Mine was thursday though and everyone I knw that was there same day and friday had their appendix 8 returned.

mayo47: I think on the average its about £350-450 per month for university accommodation if you can afford that then u stick with them, u can pay from 9ij for accommodation if u looking at uni accommodation if private chill until get to salford in a day or 2 u'll get a place.

royalsweetness: She specifically requested my CAS letter while she was putting my documents in the bag. I remember thinking what if I hadn't printed it, and I had only printed it the night before as an afterthought. Its better to be over prepared than under prepared.

Trust me she was just doing overkill. Cas letter is NOT mandatory. The lady who checked mine didn't request for it though I had it with me.
Nevertheless, whatever works for you.

I paid my tuition online. It is the easiest means possible and probably the cheapest. Gave them my card details and voila my tuition was paid instantly.


Pls can you PM me,need to find out how u were able to do dat (considering how risky it could be sending out one's card details ) cos I am having issues sending it.

Call the finance department and request to pay via credit card. It is that simple.
They will ask for your card details and that is all. Payment will be done and confirmed while you still remain on the line. I was sent a confirmation receipt after the transaction.
Just call your school and ask to speak to the finance department or whoever is responsible for accepting payments.
They will be glad to assist.

royalsweetness: It depends on where you are going from. But wherever, get a bus going to ojota, ask the conductor if they would pass Oregun, if they would, stop at Oregun bus stop and take a keke to billingsway, if they won't pass through oregun, just get to ojota, take a keke going to Oregun, and tell them you are going to embassy... I think. You won't have a problem getting there, just go in plenty of time incase you get lost.

Photocopy everything except the vaf9 form and including the data page of your passport, print your CAS too and appointment letter, they collected mine. Take your passport photographs at home, my passports were rejected cuz my ears were hidden and I had to take another inside the VAC, its ridiculously expensive.

CAS letter not mandatory. You can decide to put or not to put it won't affect the decision to issue you visa.
Your cas letter is just a reference point for you. The embassy doesn't need the letter as all that is required is the number which you have filled online already. They can pull up all the information they need using the number only.

royalsweetness: Sorry, what they did not collect is my appendix 8 form, that's the handfilled one. I gave it to the woman and she gave it back to me.

They returned mine too. Don't think you have anything to worry about. I even insisted and the lady stood her ground saying it is not needed.

Did u submit your Appendix 8 form? It seem those who submitted post website upgrade had their appendix 8 forms returned. Just trying to know if you had same experience.

Don Oms: Why would your VAF9-App8 form be returned to you without submission with other documents? That can be risky and lead to delay if not worse.

Mine was also returned. It seem to be the new "policy".
The lady took a look at it and returned it saying it is not needed.
Same with other tier 4 applicant I know.
Actually, I noticed that almost everything on the Appendix 8 form was covered on the online Vaf9 form I filled. I assume the form has been updated to cover information needed on the Appendix 8 hence no need for a paper version.
The recent upgrade to the website may account for this new procedure.
As long as they returned the form themselves at the vfs centre I do not see any problem with that.

mayo47: Actually started my program in salford, I wouldn't advise you sign up for any contract until u get see the apartment. The best is u stay in a hotel for say 2/3 days while u sort out accommodation issues.

They are offering 6 in a flat all female accommodation. What is the average rate of a private hostel with my own toilet and bathroom? Any good suggestions amongst the school's hostels or private accommodations? I was actually hoping to live in a 2 or 3 bed flat at John Lester court. As a female I value my security a lot and may end up in the school hostel considering it is more secured.
My folks are nt gonna take the argument of a 3days hotel stay well o. I will try and sell it to them though.

I paid my tuition online. It is the easiest means possible and probably the cheapest. Gave them my card details and voila my tuition was paid instantly.

What is the most advisable thing to do concerning accommodation?
Should I go ahead and make arrangement for the whole 52 weeks or I should just settle for the minimum contract available pending my arrival then I can make an informed decision concerning my accommodation?
I intend staying in an ensuite accommodation and can't seem to find any available in my school hostel.
I am asking you this question coz am guessing we are both heading for Salford.
Kindly advise as far as accommodation is concern.
I need a nice accommodation and won't mind if it is private but must not be above the schools price range.

Don Oms: Happy to hear the "appointment letter" wasn't a problem at the end of the day. But seriously, we didn't need to mention that, sis. Once you book an appointment, there is an instruction at the end of the booking that you must print your appointment letter and bring it with you to the Visa Application Centre. I think the print dialogue box even comes up immediately without any stories. Also, it has always been mentioned on this thread in recent times. Wait a minute! Did you use your mobile phone to book the appointment?

Use a plastic folder to keep all ur docs together esp if u r a scatter brain like me, Dy will still put it in their own folder doh.
Make a copy of all ur docs, also make one copy of ur passport data page.
Every1 do me a favour and tk d exact cash u need (80,460 plus 500 service charge plus 400 sms)sms isn't compulsory doh. Am oust saying cos d tips at d bank counter der will just tell u 'its 81,500'! When you say photocopies of all docs I assume u are referring to Vaf9, Appendix 8, Passport data page, bank statement and in my case Bsc degree certificate(this is d only doc stated in my cas).
What about the passport photograph? Should I affix it myself b4 heading to the vfs centre or I should wait until I get there?
How many passport photographs do I need?

How do i package my documents? Should i put them in a parcel or they will provide one at the VFS centre after crosschecking(just assuming they do) the documents? Should i affix the passport or i should wait and do that at the VFS centre? I asked cause of my experience at the German embassy today. I wanted to photocopy my WAEC certificate just outside the embassy and was made to pay N200 per page. Imagine!
I vowed to make sure next time i go to any embassy i have all my docs intact before someone ask me to pay N100 just for ordinary gum.

I just printed from Oct 22nd to Dec 3rd. However, Nov 4th to Dec 3rd would have been fine.

I actually printed from October 22nd to December 3rd. I had less than the maintenance before Nov 5th when i deposited it.
I could have printed from 4th November and it will still be acceptable.
Had some major deposits/transactions between Oct 21st to Oct 30th so i just decided to print way back to show the account is very active.

Deposited my maintenance funds November 5th and printed today December 3rd. Am good to go y'all.
I am sure they will be blown off their seats when they see my closing balance

Issuing Authority is: Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Whosoever's account you're using, you're still a tier-4 (general) applicant my dear.

I perused my own passport and saw under issuing authority: Ikoyi, Lagos, but Federal Republic of Nigeria sounds more like it.
If they refuse me a visa coz of this then it is apparent God is speaking through them. At this moment I have handed over everything to God.
