I am just talking against people who say Nigerian cards constantly have issues in the UK.

For the food stuffs, like i said, i am sure of what i am saying. On UKBA website, they have a few list of things you can and cannot bring in.
They have a very high opposing attitude towards liquid stuffs.

For more than 10 years now, i've helped packed my mom and brother's stuff whenever they're going back.
They always take ground stuffs and fish products. A lot of fish products for that matter.

the best thing for her is to carry some cash, simple. You won't tell me all 4 cards from differient banks would fail her at the same time.

coming to food, MOST foodstuffs from Africa are accepted. they only have problem with liquid stuffs.
The reality is dat u pay tax if some foodstuffs crossed a certain weight limit cos they see it as likely to be sold.

@bunberized; go through the other uk thread from the beginning to like page 30. thats where u'll find most of wat u're looking for. you can carry ur stockfish but make sure u seal it very well. a lady talked about sealing options there too.
You can also take grinded foodstuffs like egusi, ogbono etc.

Also big markets in Manchester.

The cash will be usefull BUT BE SAFE!
Do not tell anyone like fellow students that you have it.
Also beware of criminals calle Nigerian officials at local airport asking for "something"

mayo47: Not to worry u safe around with your cash, U may but i guess its better u convert all to £, Accommodation payment are mostly paid every month but u could pay quarterly all depends on the letting agency/landlord. Sure £3000 is very much ok, best bet is to get a taxi from manchester airport to ur friend place.

mrkossy: take your bank statement, you may or may not need it. If you will be taking more that £5k do not fail to declear it on Nigeria airport before leaving other wise you may stand a chance of loosing it on arrival.

mayo47: Your admission & CAS letter, no you don't need your account statement. Yeah u can take as much as £7,000, all must be declared. U might just be asked what course u studying, nothing serious tho.

You will be able to buy palm oil ( african type) and other foods in local markets to Salford.
The area and the greater part of Manchester which is only a bus ride away has many many ethnic food shops.
Ask at Uni and people will tell you.

awistle: Lol dont think palm oil can be allowed, but cray fish and smoked fish yeah I think so if they are well packed, abt food stuffs don't really know, cos am not the cooking type and I told u the only stuff I brought when i was coming, u may have to check those posts on how uk students survive and get ideas on what kind of food ur can bring.

awistle: Hospitality jobs are all around, u will just apply and do ur interview via Skype most time and hope u get it, not really seen any bad area around Salford, so it's ur money that determines where u want to stay most times or except a particular apartment is full or booked!

bunburized: Bros, that is a fair amount o. What food will I be eating that will be "just" £8 for a whole 3 square meal? UK aint costly as I was made to believe then.
I will be very happy if a budget of £70 can cover me for a week. Assuming I decide never to cook.
